Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   Can I get into Ramjas College without CUET?

A:

No, Ramjas College admission to all the courses, i.e., undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, is entrance-based. While this DU-affiliated college accepts CUET UG exam for admission to its undergraduate courses, such as BSc, BA and BCom admission to all the postgraduate courses is subject to the CUET- PG exam starting admission 2023. Ramjas College along with DU started accepting CUET UG starting 2022 and the CUET PG from 2023 session onward. Before this, admission to undergraduate was based on merit in Class 12 and PG admission was mostly subject to DUET exam previously conducted by DU.

Q:   Is Ramjas College good for Certificate?

A:
{Source: Certificate students & alumni}

Based on the feedback provided by students and alumni, here's what we found:

* Infrastructure: The college has good infrastructure, with large classrooms, a big ground, a canteen, a library, and a medical room. However, the Wi-Fi facility is limited.
* Teaching: Teachers are helpful and supportive, with good teaching skills and qualifications. They use different techniques to engage students and communicate effectively.
* Course Curriculum: The curriculum is relevant and prepares students for the industry. It covers the basics of Japanese, including Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji.
* Placements: While there may be limitations for Diploma holders, around 55-60% of students get placed, and the highest salary package offered is INR4.5 LPA.
* Certificate Course: As a certificate course, no package is offered, and students need to further study and obtain a Diploma for job prospects. However, students can pursue careers in French translation companies, guiding services, or teaching.

Overall, while Ramjas College has its strengths and weaknesses, it appears to be a decent option for those pursuing a certificate course in French. However, students must be aware of the limitations and plan accordingly for their career goals.

* Limited scholarship opportunities.
* Unclear and unrealistic expectations regarding career prospects.

Placement Situation:

* Placement rates vary across courses, with few students securing direct placements in their field of study.

"Ramji's college: Great infrastructure, timely events, knowledgeable staff in Botany department."
Placements: The highest salary package for a botanist is between 3 and 5 lakhs per annum, and the lowest is between 2 and 4 lakhs per annum. Some companies that hire botanists are Bayer, Syngenta, Novartis, and Pfizer. There are no specific companies that hire botanists. Botanists can work as environmental consultants, pathologists, and many other roles.
Infrastructure: The overall infrastructure of the hostel is good, and all necessary facilities are provided, including air-conditioned rooms and labs. The food quality is good, and hygiene is taken care of, with cleaning done on time and food prepared in a hygienic manner. Overall, taking a hostel will be more beneficial than getting one.
Faculty: The teachers are very good and have 10 to 20 years of teaching experience. They will guide you on a personal level and have a lot of knowledge. For industrial level, we will have to do some extra courses on our own, but the college teaches the rest well. The course exams are conducted semester wise. If we follow the teacher's teachings carefully in class and attend the practicals properly, we can pass the exams. But if we have not studied at all, we will not be able to pass.
Other: Botany is a course related to the environment. If you want to work in environmental science, then Botany is a good option. There are also many options in the teaching line. In addition, you may have the option to work in private companies. If you take admission in this course, then attend some workshops along with it and also take admission in additional courses so that your resume looks good. Overall the college is very good, the infrastructure is good, the crowd in the college campus is very good and you will like it here. Along with this, the college has a good name too. Along with this, there are festivals in the college from time to time which are organized by the college itself. Along with this, at the department level, there are festivals held from time to time which also gives you a lot of exposure. And along with this, many extra-curricular activities, sports games, other events and events are organized in the college.

Beyond the red brick: the essence of Ramjas.
Placements: The placement for science courses is very limited. People usually opt for pursuing a master's and then a Ph.D. Off-campus placements in various labs are available. The highest placement of Rs. 7 Lacs was given in Ramjas college. Only 30% of the students get offered internships as this course has more scope for research so people prefer to pursue higher education. Lab assistant, research fellow, scientist, lab technician, and teacher are some of the top roles offered in this course.
Infrastructure: The labs are great, but the instruments are not repaired often, the hostels have very few seats, and the labs have great infrastructure like projector white boards. The classrooms are spacious, with enough seating capacity for at least 50 people. The department has a garden and greenhouses where plant materials are available to perform practicals. The teachers are not very tech-savvy but are cooperative, encouraging students to participate in internships and providing great course materials.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified, having Ph.D.s in their respective fields; however, they are not so willing to use teaching tools like projectors, which often fails to satisfy students. They provide great study materials, are always available for solving queries and help us greatly perform all lab work with their years of expertise. The course curriculum is more focused on research-based study in areas of STEM, which prepares us for working in world-renowned labs with the correct precision of performance. The semester exams are quite difficult, with application-based questions set by state-of-the world faculty members of Delhi University. The pass percentage is well above 70%. People who follow classes regularly can easily pass the exam with minimal effort.
Other: My interest in plant biotechnology has made feel the need to pursue botany. I aim to become a professor and encourage more people to invest in research and academia. It makes us ready for lab work with frequent field trips to industry performing outdoor work and compulsory lab classes, It also teaches us the various methods of publishing journal and the scope in projecting intellectual properties by creating patents, copywrites, etc. MOZAIC is the annual fest of Ramjas, which invites famous singers like Sonu Nigam and Honey Singh. The crowd is great; you can take the feel of your college life to the fullest, be it the Sudama tea stall or Tom's magnificent Maggi. The societies make sure that the auditorium is filled with programs almost daily. Through various societies, you can gain various skills which make you real-world-ready. The clubs like MELANGE, SHUNYAA, FOCUS, RAMJAS MUN, and GLITZ are the well-known societies of our college.

Average in all aspects, it's good, I can say.
Placements: There are no placements in my course because I currently pursue undergraduate studies in Botany Hons. There are never any placements in my college, and I guess in other colleges as well. Though there are internships, there are no placements at all. There are almost 50-60 students in my course.
Infrastructure: There is no reliable Wi-Fi in our college, though there is good infrastructure like a sports complex, well-maintained labs, classrooms, and library. The hostel is quite small; there may be only 90-100 girls who can get admission. Hostels need to be bigger so that we can get seats.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified and knowledgeable. They teach us through PDFs, and their teaching quality is highly appreciable. Semester exams are quite tough, not so tough, but they are lengthy. We do not get much time in exams, so there is no cheating and all.
Other: Overall, all are average .

An absolutely wonderful experience at Ramjas College.
Placements: In my course, you can't expect placement just after graduating in a subject like botany. But for other courses, the placement is quite good but the package is just satisfactory at about 5 lacs. Top companies like Deloitte and KPMG offer jobs at Ramjas. It is fairly good when it comes to placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of Ramjas is really good. Being a Science student, I can assure that labs are well-equipped with good instruments. library is really good, with large range of books which students can issue using their ID. Classrooms are good and desks are also good. I have no complaints in classroom. The canteen food is very reasonable. The taste is satisfactory. There are many sports that students indulge in in their free time. They have a well-equipped gym as well.
Faculty: The faculty is really supportive, knowledgeable and helpful. Being at Delhi University, you can understand that they hire really good candidates. The curriculum is provided by Delhi University, which is a perfect blend of theoretical and practical knowledge, at least for my course, offering a wide range of papers as electives in various departments.
Other: The crowd at the college is good, with a really nice campus life.

Excellent faculty and good crowd.
Placements: Being a government institution, it promotes a lot of scholarships and internships. However, in my course of study, B.Sc. Hons., there are very few jobs available for graduates in my particular subject. As a result, most graduates have to pursue an additional degree, such as an M.Sc. or B.Ed., in order to find suitable employment.
Infrastructure: The campus is big compared to other Delhi University colleges. It has all the facilities you need, including good infrastructure, spacious rooms, and a big library with enough books. However, most of the books in the library are useless. Recently, they have added medical facilities. I don't know if they have jammers, but there is always a network issue. They have many sports and two big grounds, and they are active in sports.
Faculty: The majority of the faculty were friendly and highly qualified, with PhDs and ample expertise in their respective fields. However, the curriculum has remained largely unchanged for several years, with minimal updates. I believe the curriculum could be more tailored to student needs, emphasizing learning over grades. On the plus side, the university offers numerous scholarship opportunities for students, and the semester exams are not overly challenging.
