The subject that is tough for you might be very easy to study and grasp for your friend, who finds it interesting. For example, you may find Electromagnetic Wave Theory very tough because of the various technicalities and Engineering theory that it deals with. But, for your friend, it might be fun to learn, as it gives them a channel to learn, explore, and experiment with something new.
It covers both. The syllabus for B Tech in Electronics Engineering covers both via lab work and industrial projects. Both the theory classes and practical labs are important for students to understand the nuances of the field and become job-ready for the future.
Top recruiters in the business world also look for technical proficiency, practical knowledge, and theoretical understanding in the candidates who can excel at work and drive profitability.

IPMAT is usually considered a bit more difficult than SET, as IPMAT exam has advanced mathematics and is calculation intensive. The exam also have a sectional time limit. But, SET is easier in terms of difficulty, does not have negative marking or sectional timings.
