B.Sc. (Chemistry, Biotechnology) - Batch of 2026
Offered by St. Joseph’s University
4.4

Value for money and a university life worth living.
Placements: As this field barely has any job opportunities with only a bachelor’s degree, you need a minimum of a master’s degree in order to land a good job. But with only a bachelor’s degree, the salary will be around 2-4 LPA. I don't think any of my seniors got any placements as everybody chose higher education. But for other courses like BCA and B.Com, the placements are good.
Infrastructure: The course is pretty good. The library has more academic-related books than fiction novels, which is actually very helpful for students. There is also an on-campus gym that we can use. The food is alright; it's college, so yes. And most importantly, hostels are not provided for girls, only for boys.
Faculty: The teachers are the best. If you fail or get low marks, they will keep extra classes just to help us understand the concepts better. I don't think this is there in many universities. The practical and theory concepts are very well organized; every week's practical is based on the theoretical concepts we learn that very week.

Review of St. Joseph's College.
Placements: Internship opportunities are good. Teachers recommend students apply for a master's degree and then look out for a job. They help in job hunting.
Infrastructure: Labs are average but the fee is high. Girls hostel is not available in our college. Classrooms are good in the new block. Library is huge. Food depends on the canteen as there are 2 major canteens that serve good snacks.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are helpful except few. Semester exams aren't so difficult if students study well. Many students do not pass and attend supplementary exams. Teachers are helpful in offering courses after their bachelor's degree.
Other: Our college doesn't organise many fests.

Really good infrastructure, great for extra curricular activities and fests, moderate placements.
Placements: I've heard that placements are really good in our college. Almost 50% of them get placed. The package differs from 1lpa to 20 lpa. Recruiting companies like Goldman Sachs, Wipro, Dell, Accenture etc. Top roles offered in my course is senior lab technician.
Infrastructure: We have football ground, auditorium, library, multiple canteens, quadrangle, Wi-Fi, telescope area, lifts for students and staff, indoor play area, conference halls, boys hostel etc. The quality of canteen is moderate. Medical facilities, library, sports and games are really good.
Faculty: Teachers were fairly helpful and knowledge. But highly qualified. Teaching quality could be better in some areas. The course curriculum is just right and it makes students industry ready. Semester exams are moderately difficult and pass percentage is 35.
Other: I chose this course because I always wanted to get into pure Science field and I thought biotechnology being one of my subjects would make this journey more interesting. I wish my teachers understood that they are putting us under a lot of pressure at a point of time and sometimes we are free. I wish there was consistency in this matter. Events, extra curricular activities and fests are just the best part of this college. There is not a great connectivity though. But the scholarship and the crowd is pretty amazing.

It offers a great college life.
Placements: Almost 70% to 80% of students get placed in our college. TCS, Wipro, IBM, ICICI Bank, HP, etc., are some of the esteemed organisations that recruit students here. The best salary package goes to 80 LPA. Most of the students get internships, and they can easily develop their skills.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is well-maintained, and Wi-Fi is covered all over the college. The hostel is good. There is a gym facility. There are two indoor basketball courts. All the labs are well-equipped with high-quality products and machinery. Hostel food is good.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful. They do great work at the college in teaching and clearing doubts. All are highly qualified staff. They are the best you can get from an institution. The semester is well managed. There were some issues due to COVID, but now it's great.
Other: Fests and all the activities are done well. A good budget is made and all kinds of awesome things are done.

It is a good college and has value for money.
Placements: I'm still in 2nd year I don't know much about placements and all but one thing I know is that one with a good percentage can have a chance to get selected in college placements. If you have backlogs, you are not allowed to attend the college placements.
Infrastructure: The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled. The classrooms are spacious and some of them are small. Overall it's good and we have access to a large number of books and Wi-Fi all over the library. It is spacious also and we have e-library where we can get access to e-books.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members are well qualified except a few and the teaching is good. Most of them are helpful and they guide us on what to do after the degree. The course curriculum is good and we have 2 semesters a year. We have industrial visits in 3rd year and coming to exams if we study we will get good marks.
