B.A. (Economics, Political Science) - Batch of 2024
4.4
3Placements4Infrastructure5Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Faculty members of humanities department are really amazing and very helpful.
Placements: Placement of college is average. Students need to be prepared for it before the 5th semester. The highest salary package was around 4 LPA-5 LPA and mostly people from the commerce department get placed because of their industry visits and compulsory internships. Very few people got placed this year. One thing that needs to be improved is college should provide placement training which was not given.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of college is good. It has boys hostel. The canteen food is good. They have 2 canteens. Classrooms are quite big. They can accommodate 100 students. Labs are also there in Science block. The college library has almost all study material we require.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and qualified. The curriculum is also up to the point. For our batch, we had NEP policy, and we were the 1st batch of it. Semester exams are tough in college. The passing percentage is 33%. We also get real-world knowledge examples. In economics, we had mock stock, where we were taught about investing in the stock market via a demo application. In political science, we were briefed by the local police on the work of the police department.

Review of St. Joseph’s University through Ritika's point of view.
Placements: Placement opportunities and salary packages offered are average from what I got to know from seniors. As I’m fresher, I do not have much idea about placements, but I’m gaining knowledge about it. I would like to provide a review again next year.
Infrastructure: Our college provides facilities like laboratories and spacious classrooms. However, for Wi-Fi, we need a password and ID, which is provided by the university, but it doesn't work around campus, except in the library. Canteen food is average. Sports availability is huge on campus.
Faculty: I informed our chemistry teacher that I was poor in chemistry subject. They encouraged me and still helped me to learn the subject. Teachers are very helpful. The course curriculum is relevant and it makes students industry-ready. The semester exam is average, but sometimes it is difficult. No questions are repeated in exams.
Other: I chose this course as I wanted to explore more about tiny organism. The only thing I wish could be improved is that they should show videos related to PPTs. The scholarship opportunities are often shared in the group. Fest is well-organized, but one of the fests was not well-organized this year. Organizing team was rude but on average days crowd of our college is quite good. Campus is not too big and not too small. There's a chapel and two canteens, one is big and the other one is small.

B.A. (Journalism, International Relations, Peace Studies) - Batch of 2026

Good infrastructure and faculty!
Placements: I don't think the placement cell does any work, at least in the undergraduate block. For undergrads, I don't think even the internship cell works. We need to really work hard to get internships by ourselves. Anyway, it's a great experience when it comes to college life.
Infrastructure: The library, classrooms, and all are very nice and lavish where people can study peacefully, and even the canteen is huge enough. The kids enjoy the food served in the canteen as there is a lot of variety and different culture food. It's a hilly place, and kids love it.
Faculty: The teachers are very nice and helpful. Some of them are very annoying, but other than that, the faculty of humanities and English both are very good. Semester exams are not very tough as the teachers help us throughout the semester. The exams are very easy comparatively.
Other: I love to write and be creative with my words, so I opted for this course.

M.A. in Advertising and Public Relations - Batch of 2025

M.A. in advertising and public relations at SJU.
Placements: Around 80% of students get placed if they choose to register with the placement cell. The average salary package is 5 LPA, which can vary depending on individual skills and experience. Recruitment is mainly done by agencies rather than corporates, although companies like EY have also participated in recruitment.
Infrastructure: We have great infrastructure, including a well-equipped library and canteens. The only downside is that the better facilities are located on UG campus, which is right opposite ours. SJU also has excellent sports facilities, such as a football and cricket field, a basketball court, and an indoor court for badminton.
Faculty: Our teachers are all extremely qualified, and we have a set of external faculty members coming in from top companies to teach us. Having well-established individuals from the industry directly teach us has been very fulfilling. The curriculum is constantly updated and in tune with industry trends and requirements, ensuring that we are job-ready. The exams are practical, theoretical, or both, depending on the subject. With hard work and consistency, they can do well in the course.
Other: I chose this course because it is largely job-oriented and trains us to meet industry requirements, rather than being solely theory-based.

B.A. (Psychology, Optional English) - Batch of 2026
3.6
2Placements3Infrastructure4Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Psychology is great here, but I would not recommend Optional English.
Placements: There isn’t placement for my course, so I’m not sure, but there’s a group where they send internship or job opportunities that you can apply for. Career opportunities for my course are content writers, journalism, editors, psychologists, HR, etc. People do get internships, but they normally look on their own without help from the college.
Infrastructure: There are labs, classrooms, a library, canteen, a ground for football and volleyball, etc. Wi-Fi is there, but we don’t have access to it. There isn’t a girls' hostel, as far as my knowledge. The boys' hostel is decent, but the curfew is 6:30/7. The canteen is very affordable and tasty.
Faculty: The psychology faculty and curriculum are good and interesting. Optional English I wouldn’t recommend. It’s not easy or interesting, and the faculty isn’t very helpful. The exams are easy if you’re a regular student and pay attention in class. There are also internal marks.
Other: Mine is the first shift, so classes start by 7 and get over by 12, and hence I have the whole day to do something else. I love that I chose the course for psychology but regret optional English. The campus crowd is great; you’ll find all kinds of people.

2Placements3Infrastructure4Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
A university that can provide much better teaching and placements.
Placements: Around 50 students are in my class, out of which around 5 of them dropped out. Our placements haven't begun yet. Around 20-25 of us have had internships in the course of 3 years. I'm not sure about others, but I interned at the Hindu. Journalism, researchers, etc. are the top roles offered.
Infrastructure: Recently, our department has acquired a new floor exclusive to our course with Wi-Fi and a library close by. I stay in a PG, which is very convenient since the college is just a 5-min walk. The food is enough to survive on. There are not many medical facilities around; even if there are, they are very expensive for students like us.
Faculty: The teachers are alright, but based on some students, the curriculum is relevant only to an extent since we aren't given broadcasting journalism since our course comes under the English department instead of the media and communication department. The exams are quite easy, actually.
Other: I chose this course mainly because it sounded interesting. The best thing I found about this course was how easy it felt, but I would change a lot of things in the course, like including broadcast journalism and corporate journalism more. I would also change the departments to the media communications department because they would have more exposure to the news and entertainment industry. Events and first on campus were pretty basic, like for the first year I had so much fun; it was really good. The second year clashed with some issues, and the third year only one of our first has been conducted; the second one will be conducted. Next semester I am looking forward to that.
