Life at TCE course, infrastructure and more.
Placements: 100% placement is assured at this college. Everybody gets placed in at least the minimum package offered by the company. The highest as of now is 24 LPA to 30 LPA and the lowest could be 3.5 to 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Shop Up, Sahaj, Brillio, Kia, Accenture, Caterpillar, Fidelity and so on, and most of these companies offer summer internships. Due to the recession, companies like TCS and Zoho did not visit this time. Mostly software-developer, tester, backend roles, etc. are offered.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, labs, and a library are offered and utilized well. Wi-Fi may not be good in certain areas. The hostel per room accommodates 4 and the hostel food is purely vegetarian. Taste is average only and the overall cost is 70,000. TCE supports students in participating in various sports, like basketball, cricket, hockey and so on.
Faculty: Teaching is good and the curriculum is not so tough. Yet self-study helps to gain more knowledge in depth since the courses offer a basic layout. Semester exams are not so tough; most of the questions will be from internals. The pass percentage is around 80%.
Other: This course covers recent trends and if your really passionate about code, you can select this course to become a software developer. But events are very few; there are no celebrations for any occasion.

It is a very good college for placements and to improve yourself.
Placements: More than 90% of students get placed in super dream, dream and shared companies. The highest package offered is 25 LPA, the lowest package is 4 LPA, and the average package is 8 LPA. Top recruiters are Amazon, Zoho, Fidelity etc. In the 5th semester, 5 students got a 2-month internship in Fidelity with 35,000 per month.
Infrastructure: Our college has high-end infrastructure and various lab facilities. Each department has its own laboratories. Each lab has a well-trained lab assistant and technician. Hostels serves only vegetarian food items, and it has wide varieties as in a restaurant. The college also encourages and supports students to engage in various sports and games.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified, professional and friendly with students. Most of the faculty members hold Ph.D. and are doing research in various domains. They also help students with placements and higher studies. The course curriculum is highly relevant. Semester exams are easy to clear if prepare well. The pass percentage is 50%.

Thiagarajar College of engineering review .
Placements: About 40% of our course students were placed. Our universities do their best by offering students virtual internships alongside academics. This pandemic has made the internship programme too difficult for students. However, for offline, the College recommends many companies by offering the Bonafide Certificate. Very few companies have visited our department like L&T. Software companies such as HCL, Infosys, Wipro are visiting our university for internships. This pandemic has made internships very difficult for students.
Infrastructure: All laboratories are fully equipped. Wi-Fi is available in every block of our university. The library is well maintained and monitored to ensure smooth check-in and check-out of books. The best part of TCE is the hostel that offers high quality healthy vegetarian recipes. Our university has a separate block for pharmacies. Sports and games have strong teams and coaches in only a few sports.
Faculty: All teachers, apart from academics, help develop students' passion. Faculty members have extensive experience in their current fields. The syllabus is very relevant for both the placement exam and the GATE exam. The results are based on competitive exams, so it makes sense to prepare during the UG course. Semester exams are a bit difficult to master, but with proper planning with course results, you can certainly get a decent CGPA.

It is the best college in Southern Tamilnadu.
Placements: The placements are good for the IT department. Top MNCs like Amazon, Microsoft, ZOHO, and Service-based companies like TCS, CTS, WIPRO, Accenture, and other startups visit here. Almost everybody gets placed. We get internships from these companies starting from the 3rd year.
Infrastructure: All the facilities required are there, Wi-Fi is available, but not at every place. There are a lot of labs available and students can use them anytime whenever it's open. The canteen food cost is affordable and tastes good. A library is a place we can visit whenever we want and has a huge collection of books.
Faculty: Many faculty have completed their doctorate here at TCE. And most of their teaching is great. The curriculum is not the latest in everything but much better than many other universities and other autonomous colleges in Tamil Nadu. The pass percentage is 50 and the exams follow remember, understand, apply, and analyze pattern that is good. But we have to deal with the assignments.
Other: The best thing about our course is the opportunities in the current world. I wish there could be more industrial exposure. The technical events happen a lot but other cultural events are a rarity. IVs are hardly supported by faculty and they give only 1 day's permission for it.

It is a place to study and possibly get a good placement.
Placements: Although not comparable to institutions like SSN or PSG, TCE still maintains a decent placement record only because of the trust some particular companies hold over the students passing out of the college. The college sees regular placement offers from companies like Zoho, VMware, Deloitte, Delta Tech, Shopify, TCS, Accenture, Wipro, and all those service-based companies we hear of. The companies, like Microsoft and Amazon, arrive infrequently. The percentage of startups participating in the placement process has increased of late. It might negatively affect the opportunities offered. The pay is anywhere from average to good. Super dream packages are still a tough nut to crack, and you can expect an average salary of 5 LPA to 7 LPA.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure, although slightly disappointing, are a better situation than what other colleges offer. The IT department is fully stocked with all available technologies ready for use. Only the Internet connection is an issue. There is no debate about it. The science block, where students spend their first year, is well accomodating. Although Wi-Fi is not fully available throughout the campus, even if it is, the connection is pathetically weak except at the library. The college has done excellent work with the library; it's stocked with every available resource out there, and the staff there are very helpful. The E block of the men's hostel is the only good block when it comes to room quality. It's huge, spacious, and has facilities for every person staying there. Four guys can stay in a room. Mess provides only pure vegetarian food, and the quality is good, or for the most part, it's eatable. No worries here, you will get used to this routine. Sports and games are highly encouraged here, with competitions and inter-department games being a common affair. The college has a good reputation in the university games thanks to the activities of the management and our seniors here. We have recently got a refurbished, high-quality indoor stadium able to host multiple sports at once, so the support the management extends to the sports is evident.
Faculty: The qualifications of faculty members are excellent here, at least in our batch. Every professor here exhibits a great deal of knowledge, and the way they handle students and the course around them is unique. Teacher quality, non-debatable, surely amazing. The course curriculum, sadly, is a bit old. 2018 was the last course draft. The methodologies listed are very old and not relatable at all. However, the teaching faculty here makes up for the oldiness. They try to introduce us to new technologies available and, inherently, make us industry-ready. The exam was ridiculously easy if you learn quantitatively rather than qualitatively; the questions were more like "Write a few sentences about Elon Musk" rather than "How influential is Elon Musk in the current world." Keeping arrears here is very rare.
Other: The course needs to be updated to the current trend immediately. The course is obviously better than CSE at the college. Faculty members are in-house because it's B. Tech is managed internally, so they go with the college flow, and this course is what students really need to get into the IT field, not CSE. If you come looking here for cultural and other things, I must say it's rather disappointing than a simple dissatisfaction. But this time, I really can see some prominent events happening around us. Maybe the management has now started supporting it or something. The display of talent here by students is amazing. These guys are gold mines waiting to be made into ornaments, and now it looks like they have started digging. The campus is situated inside a forest-like area under the Thirupparankundram hill, for your information; that doesn't have anything to do with the climate. There is a reason why the Madurai heat is so special. You get roasted and boiled alive alternately each day. Even if you had lived in the Thar desert, you would not be able to bear the heat suffered by hostelers.

Q:   Can students with a minimum cutoff for B.Sc get a seat at Thiagarajar College of Engineering?

A:

Thiagarajar College of Engineering mainly has B.Tech programs, not B.Sc. For B.Tech, whether you can get in depends on your cutoff score, which can change each year because of competition. So, if your score is close to the cutoff, you might get in. But for B.Sc, you should check with the college to see if they offer those programs and what you need to get in.
