Q:   How effective is the placement cell for M.E./M.Tech courses at Thiagarajar College of Engineering?

    A:
    {Source: M.E./M.Tech students & alumni}

Effectiveness of the Placement Cell for M.E./M.Tech Courses

    * Decent placement record: Recruiters visit the campus with decent packages ranging from INR2 to INR5 Lacs per annum (LPA). The placement percentage is around 30%.
    * Active placement cell: The placement cell is very active and connected with top companies, ensuring that students get placed in reputed organizations.
    * Internship opportunities: The college provides internships, which helps students gain practical experience and build their resume.
    * Placements vary across industries: While no core company has visited yet, some students have received offers from off-campus companies, with the highest package being INR23 LPA and the lowest being INR4 LPA.
    * Students' expectations vs reality: Some students feel that the placements could improve, while others are satisfied with the current scenario.
    * College's efforts to improve placements: The college encourages students to connect with their known companies and supervisors to facilitate placements. However, some students reported that the college does not offer significant assistance with internships.

In summary, while the placement cell shows promise, its effectiveness varies depending on the industry and individual student experiences. The college needs to focus on improving its connections with core companies and providing better internship opportunities to enhance the overall placement scenario for M.E./M.Tech students.

The study methods they teach us and the lab.
Placements: The semester is not a problem for the placement in M.Sc. Trigo, TCS, HCl, and many more companies visited our college for internships and interviews. The highest is 12 Lacs per annum. 75 percent of students get placed during campus interviews. TCS, Trigo, HCl, and many more companies offer placement internships and job offers. The minimum salary offer is 350000 per annum, and the maximum salary offer is 12 Lacs per annum. The jobs and roles offered are mostly developers and junior developers.
Infrastructure: Annual Day and Sangamam are the annual fests. Sangamam is conducted for 3 days for the whole college. Sports Day is also conducted every year. There are NCC and various clubs in our college. Each department has separate clubs and activities.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members are caring, with Dr. as a suffix on their names. Highly educated faculty members you meet in this college. Some newly appointed teaching staff are not that good at teaching, though they are caring with N numbers of degrees. Practice makes man perfect, and as time passes, they will improve their teaching style for sure.

    Good college and best teachers.
Placements: Almost 63% of students are placed in our course. The highest package offered is 20 LPA, the lowest package offered is 3 to 5 LPA and the average package offered is 7 to 9 LPA. Recruiting companies are HCC, GAAR, DLF, etc. Internship opportunities are more for the skilled students in our course.
Infrastructure: We have good facilities in our college. We have Wi-Fi facilities with high range on campus. There is an extensive library and a multitude of classrooms. The library has all field books. The labs are well-equipped with all equipment. The hostel facilities are good and the hostel mess food is not much good. But canteen food is good.
Faculty: The teachers are knowledgeable but some have less experience in teaching. The teaching quality varies. While all the teachers are Masters in their respective subjects, many lack the patience and skills they make us ready for industry. The semester exams are hard to pass. Pass percentage is 78%.

The college has good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: Our college has good infrastructure, as they provide well-designed classrooms with smart boards. The campus offers a wide range of playgrounds. The placement rate for students in this course is 65%, with the lowest package offered at 3 Lacs per year, the highest at 8 Lacs per year, and an average of 5 Lacs per year. Top recruiting companies like Microsoft, Dell, HP, Infosys, and Accenture visit here. Many students secure internships at Google and Microsoft; the percentage of students who obtain internships is 75%. The top role offered is hardware designer.
Infrastructure: The college has good infrastructure and facilities, providing a well-equipped campus cafeteria. The classrooms are clean and equipped with smart boards, and the seminar hall is spacious. Even the quadrangle, where functions take place, is well-maintained. The hostel provides good facilities; the food is hygienic, and there is a canteen for daily travelers. Medical facilities are available when needed. They organize intra and inter-college games and sports to encourage sports participation.
Faculty: The teachers are well-qualified and knowledgeable in their subjects; they are also very professional and helpful in clarifying our doubts. The teaching quality is good. The curriculum is relevant to industry needs, making students industry-ready. Exams are manageable; even studying a day before can suffice to pass. However, for higher marks and better percentages, studying from the beginning or a month prior is advisable. About 80% of students pass exams.

Hostel life is filled with lots of fun and happiness on weekends.
Placements: From the 5th and 6th semesters, students are eligible for campus placements. Companies like Godrej, Hitachi, and other MNCs visit and make numerous offers. I do not know the exact number, but the highest package offered in my 3rd year was 22 LPA, and the average is 12 LPA. It depends on how many students have applied for campus placements. This year, the percentage of students who got placements from the total who applied was 70% to 80%. I have completed my degree and am preparing for a government job.
Infrastructure: Apart from studies, there are many extracurricular activities like chess, tennis, volleyball, basketball, and football. Interested students can participate, and they also conduct tournaments within or between other colleges to showcase their talents. All festivals are celebrated with our traditional methods, such as wearing ethnic costumes, decorating classrooms, playing games, etc., which was truly amazing and appreciable.
Faculty: The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:10, and the faculty is very easy to approach, especially in the Botany Department. Although the humanities have far more students than us, their faculty is also easy to approach. Dr. Sunil Dheeman was my favorite because he was so humble and always cared about students. There are 6 semesters, so there are 6 theory exams and 6 practical exams. Hardly 1 or 2 students fail.

They do so many things for the students, and it improves their state.
Placements: This is my favorite part of the discussion. The placement of this university is absolutely excellent. The placement percentage is 98%, and it is real. It also has a NAAC grade of A++. Most students get placed in the campus placement drive only. The average package at this university is up to 7 LPA, and the highest is up to 50 LPA.
Infrastructure: They hold functions for all the students, like Pongal Celebration, Onam, Holi, etc. There is a library that helps students improve their knowledge, and it is equipped with a projector and screen for various activities. Social groups are all about the students' mentality; if they want to participate, they will, and if they don't, they won't.
Faculty: The faculty is very good and helpful. If we have any doubts regarding academic work or other matters, they are very cooperative. Regarding the examination process, they give hints about what will be on the exams and how marks are awarded. They give marks based on whether you have really studied or not.

Over 200 companies are there for Recruiting Talented and Protect Nature, Companies such as GoGreen, SaveEarth, and GEPIL, DEWS, etc. Roles such as Environment Consultant and Environment Officer.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure good, and rooms are cleaned and maintained properly, peaceful environment. Luxurious Hostels with 3 and 4 sharing rooms are available. But, there is one issue Washrooms will be cleaned once in Week. Faculty are good, and we have a Good Canteen for all foodies.
Faculty: Faculty are more helpful when Studying. The faculty is really good; many faculty are already doing their Ph.D. in different fields, and the college also organizes many Environment Visits to different places.
