NIFT 2024 Exam Analysis – Difficulty, Expected Cut-off, Length of Paper

Candidates can refer the space below to know about the complete exam analysis of NIFT 2024 and students' reaction here.

Richa: I appeared for the B.Des exam. The exam was easy. Reasoning section was easy and Maths was the difficult. The overall difficulty level was moderate.

Shivam: I appeared for the B.Des exam. The overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate. I found Math and English section easy while GK section was difficult.

Meenal: I appeared for B.des paper. The paper was moderate. I found English paper easy. I attended around 85 to 90 questions in the exam.

Q:   Can I take mock tests of other exams to prepare for NIFT 2024 exam?

A:
Along with sample papers, mock tests are considered essential tools to prepare for the NIFT 2024 exam. However, considering the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) may or may not conduct mock tests for the NIFT 2024 exam, the candidate may conduct mock tests of other exams. For instance, the candidate may take mock tests conducted by the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). But it may be noted that the difficulty level of the SEED exam is not at par with the NIFT exam. So, while mock tests will help the candidate get an exam like ambience, it is not enough. It is therefore recommended that the candidate solves as many sample papers to improve ones problem-solving and time-management skills.

Q:   Do we need to join coaching to prepare for NIFT entrance exam?

A:
Joining a coaching for NIFT preparation is not really needed. Coaching is for those who want to learn how to draw things. But, if someone has this talent, which most students passionate about sketching and painting do possess, there is no need for coaching. One can prepare through self-study. For your understanding, I would like to give an example. In coaching, students are made to learn how to draw the 3D image by various techniques using measuring instruments but one who is natural at art can imagine what 3D image would look like if it has to be drawn on a paper and would draw the same. In both cases, the outcome is the same. Regarding theory, that is, GAT, if you are confident to solve Maths, History, Geography, General science up till class 10th level, then there is definitely no need for coaching. Though the level of English is a bit high you can improve it yourself.

Q:   Do I need to check previous years NIFT cut-off to prepare for the exam?

A:
While the NIFT cut-off is not static, it is good idea to take a look at the cut-off record. It is because by consulting the cut-off, the candidate will get a fair idea as to what is a safe score or rank for admission. When consulting the cut-off table, it is important that the candidate refers to their chosen programme and respective category only. After consulting the cut-off and analyzing any specific trends, the candidate needs to prepare acrodingy. For instance, if the aim is to get into NIFT Delhi, the candidate will have to prepare with a different intensity, then say getting admission to NIFT Srinagar.

Q:   What are the dos and don'ts for the NIFT CAT exam?

A:

The NIFT CAT exam will be administered in an offline mode and will be a drawing-based exam. During the course of the exam, the candidate is not allowed to write any personal details and place identification marks. The CAT exam will evaluate the candidate on parameters like intuitive ability, power of observation in concept development, and design ability. To prepare for the CAT the candidate needs to work on geometrical shapes, product drawing, line quality, shading, human figures, principles of composition, etc. To improve ones figure drawing skills, one may stick drawing, before moving on to block drawing, and then evolving to add clothes and other items.

Q:   How many sample papers do I need to prepare for NIFT?

A:

There are no fixed number of sample papers that the candidate needs to solve for the NIFT exam. That being said the candidate must solve as many sample papers as possible to improve ones problem-solving and time-management skills. To get the most out of the sample papers, it is recommended that the candidate starts solving sample papers as early as possible. For instance, the candidate may solve sample questions after completing a chapter. Along with solving the sample papers, it is also important for the candidate to analyze their performance. This exercise will help the candidate identify weak areas or pain points and fix them at infancy.

Manisha: I appeared for B.des. The paper average for me. I found the GK section difficult while English section was easy.

Naina: I appeared for B.des. The exam was moderate. The GK section was tough as the questions were from mostly from history.

Rehan: I appeared for B.des paper. I found Maths paper quite tough while English and GK sections were easy.

Neha: I appeared for B.des paper. The overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate to difficult.
