NIFT cutoff 2025 - The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will release the NIFT 2025 cutoffs at the time of counseling and seat allotment.

In the previous edition, FOUR regular and one SPOT seat allotment rounds of NIFT counseling were conducted. For each of these rounds, a separate cut-off was released.

Candidates who met the cut-off for a particular round were offered admission in that round. Or else, the candidate was considered for admission in subsequent rounds.

However, if the candidate failed to meet the NIFT cut-off in the last round of seat allotment, they were disqualified from the admission process.

So, to be eligible for admission, you must meet the cut-off for that round.

NIFT 2025 cut-off would be category-specific.

The direct link to download the institute- and category-wise cut-offs will be given below once they are available.

In the meantime, you can download previous years' NIFT cut-off. To download, click on the relevant link.

NTA will conduct the NIFT 2025 exam tentatively in the 1st week of February 2025. The application form for NIFT 2025 is expected to OPEN in December 2024.

Q: When will NIFT cutoff be released?

The National Instituite of Fashion Technology will release the NIFT 2025 at the time of seat allotment and counseling.

The cut-offs will be available institute and category-wise for all the program at nift.admissions.nic.in.

The cut-offs will be prepared by considering factors like the seat intake, the merit rank of candidates, admission category, etc. Note that if the seat intake is increase the cut-off would likely go down and vice versa.

Q: What is NIFT 2024 opening and closing ranks of NIFT Bengaluru for open category?

The NIFT Bengaluru admission cut-offs are now available for Round I, II, and III.

The cut-off has been released for all the 18 participating colleges.

To check the cut-off, you need to go to the https://admissions.nic.in/ portal.

Under eServices, select OR-CR.

The roundwise NIFT 2024 cut-off or closing rank (All-India Quota) for the open category for NIFT Bengaluru for the 3rd Round are given below:

Round I - 29 (opening rank), 234 (closing rank)
Round II - 208 (opening rank), 236 (closing rank)

Q: I have failed to meet NIFT 2025 cut-off in previous rounds. Will I get admission?

NIFT 2025 counseling process will be conducted online and will have multiple rounds.

In the previous edition of the exam, four regular rounds, followed by a SPOT round, of seat allotment was conducted.

If you meet the cut-off in any of these rounds, you will be considered for admission in that round. However, if you fail to meet the cut-off criteria, you may be considered for admission in the subsequent rounds provided you meet the cut-off for that round.

Or, else you will have to wait for the SPOT round, where seats will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Vacant seats after completion of the regular rouns will be offered in the SPOT round.

Q: I belong to the SC category? Will I be considered for NIFT admission under open category?

Yes, candidates belonging to the SC, and other reserved categories will be considered for admission under both the respective and open categories.

Considering you belong to the SC category, this means you will be considered for open and SC admission lists. If you meet the cut-off in any of these lists, you will get admission.

But the institute you are being allocated will depend on the course you have selected (and their order of priority) at the time of choice-filling. Note that if you are not offered the first preferred seat, you are typically considered for upgradation in subsequent rounds.

Things you must know about NIFT 2025 cut-off

Here are a few points you need to know about the NIFT cut-off 2025

The cutoff of NIFT 2025 will be released after seat allotment is made.
The cut-off can be checked online at nift.ac.in/admission.
The cutoff would include the NIFT 2025 opening and closing common merit ranks.
Note that the cut-offs will be released category-wise and for each of the participating NIFTs.
Candidates who meet the cut-off rank (or marks) for their chosen program and category only will be considered for admission.
If a candidate fails to meet the cut-off in a preceding round, then the candidate will be considered for admission in the next seat allotment rounds.
However, if the candidate fails to meet the cut-off in the last round of allotment, he or she will not get admission.
The cut-off would be prepared considering factors like seat intake, total applicants, category under which admission is sought, etc. If any of the factors change, the cut-off would also change. For instance, if the seat intake is increased, the cut-off would come down, and vice versa.

Q: What is NIFT cutoff?

NIFT cutoff for a participating NIFT is the last rank for which admission is offered in for a particular programme and category. This means, if a candidate fails to score a rank equal to or higher than the cutoff rank, they don't get admission. Typically, a higher ranked institute will invite: More applications Higher ranked candidates This in turn pushes up the cutoff in higher ranked (or popular) institutes. Likewise, a lower-ranked institute will receive comparatively fewer number of applications, and mostly from lower-ranked candidates. This means, cut-off in these institutes are lower making it much easier to get admission.

Q: When can I download the NID DAT 2025 answer sheets?

The National Institite of Design (NID) will release the answer sheets of the candidate after the declaration of the FINAL results. Further, the answer sheets will only be available on request, only after the admission process is complete.

The answer sheet is not be issued during the admission process.

To request the answer sheet for the admission cycle 2025-26, the candidate has to make a payment of INR 1000 online/ per exam. The candidate will also have to furnish the NID DAT 2025 admit card duly signed by the invigilator and seal of the exam center with the request.

The answer sheet will be sent to the candidate within 15-20 days after receiving the payment.

The National Institute of Design will, however, not release any answer keys for the DAT Prelims exam.

What is a good score in NIFT?

How good is a score depends on several factors like the program of study, seat intake, the category you belong to, the institute you have selected for admission, etc.

For instance, if you belong to the OPEN category, you might not get admission even if you score, say X marks. However, a candidate belonging to the reserved category may easily get easy get admission if they score X marks.

So, you have to take into account the above factors when discussing what is a good NIFT 2025 score.

Also, note that the NIFT admission cutoff is not fixed and may change depending on factors like the difficulty level of the exam, total applicants, merit ranks of these applicants, and seat intake.

Factors Determining NIFT Cutoff 2025

The cutoffs of NIFT 2025 will be prepared by considering the following factors:

The number of candidates participating in the counseling process
The merit rank of applicants
The seat intake for the program opted for admission
The category under which admission is sought
The institute applied for admission to

Among the various categories for which the cut-off would be released include General, SC, ST, OBC-NCl, Domicile, and PwD categories. Mentioned below is the last Common Merit Rank (CMR) at which candidates were offered admission in the 2016-2017 academic session in BDes as well as BFTech course at the corresponding NIFT campus. The official NIFT website informs that the below mentioned “chart is only an indicative tabulation as the final allotment of campuses as per Common Merit Rank (CMR) may vary from year to year depending on a candidate’s preference. The domicile category seats are available in campuses located at Kannur, Patna, Kangra, Jodhpur and Bhubaneswar”.

Q: How can I check NIFT cutoff?

Candidates can check NIFT cutoff 2025 online on the official website of the National Institute of Fashion Technology. NIFT cutoff is released as a PDF file containing the opening and closing ranks. The cut-off would be category-specific. So, the candidate needs to check the cut-off for the category they belong to. Also, note that candidates from reserved categories will be considered for admission under general category as well. However, candidates belonging to open category will not be considered for admission under reserved categories.

Q: What is the NIFT closing rank for admission to NIFT Panchkula?

The cut-off for NIFT Panchkula is released category and programme-wise. So, candidates seeking admission to a particular programme need to consult the cut-off in their reserved or open category. For the year 2022, the opening CMR of Dom. OBC category for the Fashion communication was 6023; the closing CMR was 6414. The opening CMR for admission to the Fashion Design course was 5182, while the closing CMR was 5298. Meanwhile, for the M.Des programme, both the opening and closing CMR for the Dom. OBC category was 528. Note that CMR stands for common merit rank.

Q: What are the various Masters courses for which NIFT cut-off would be released?

The master's programme is offered in the following disciplines - Master of Design (M. Des. ) Master of Fashion Management (M. F. M), and Master of Fashion Technology (M. F. Tech. ). The cut-off would be released separately for all these courses. This means, if the candidate meets the cut-off criteria for M. Des but fails to meet the cut-off for M. F. Tech, in that case the candidate will only be eligible for admission to the M. Des programme. So, the candidate needs to check out the cut-off or closing ranks for the programme they are seeking admission to. The cut-off would be determined by considering factors like total applicants, seat intake, merit ranks of the applicants, and also admission category.

Q: What are the various factors that determine NIFT cut off?

NIFT cutoff depends on variables like: seat matrix, category of the candidate, total applications, category, Common Merit Rank (CMR) of the candidate in NIFT 2025, and the popularity (or ranking) of the institute. If any of these variables changes, the cut-off would also change. For instance, if the number of applicants goes up, the cut off would also go up. On the contrary, if the number of applicants is low, the cut-off would stay on the lower side. Candidates planning to appear in the NIFT 2025 exam may consult the previous years cut-of for the exam to get an idea as to what is a safe score or admission. When checking the cutoff, it is important to however refer to ones own category.
