Choose your career according to interest: Simran Dhar
I completed my school education from Jammu as I belong to this state. I wanted to become a doctor but destiny had decided something else. My parents insisted me for taking non-medical subjects. I took both Maths and Biology i.e. PCMB. I liked my subjects a lot. I started feeling the love for both Maths and Biology, and I started deciding about what I want to become. I decided to be a web developer. Web development fascinates me a lot. I love how people create beautiful, attractive and informative websites. Of course, I also wanted to learn that and for starters, I have to get into some reputed college. But then, came the question that in which college I would want to go to.
College Journey:
I wanted to study in Bangalore, so for that, I gave the KCET examination and got a good rank in it, but still, I couldn’t score well enough to get my dream college. But with the grace of God, I got admission in BMS Institute of Technology and Management, which is the sister college of BMS. I gave many entrance exams like JEE Main, KCET, JKCET (J&K BOPEE CET), NEET UG, etc. I took many coaching classes for many subjects. My favorite subject was Biology and I was good in that, so I didn’t take it seriously. I gave my full concentration on Maths and Physics, because those subjects required a lot of practice and you can’t just cram it. You’ve got to understand the concepts. I once thought of relocating to Kota, which is the factory of preparing great engineers and doctors, but something suddenly broke out, so I dropped that plan.
My tips for aspiring students is that don’t waste your time thinking about good coaching classes. I know it matters a lot but it truly depends on you. Self-study is the best. Study in such a way so that you can teach others too. Be confident, because you’ve got to go through a lot of hardships, competitions, etc. so don’t let yourself down. Start living your dream, as half your work is set, while for the other half, you need to act.
College Life:
My college is going well. I’m learning many new things here. The girl present today and that of previous years is really different. I’m totally changed. My ideas, creativity, everything has been modified. As I’m still in my BE course, I can’t explain my overall experience, because I’m still in my best days of life. College life is for both learning and enjoying, but if you only take the latter seriously, you are going to endure a lot of pain in your upcoming days. The survival is hard and the competition is tough; only the smart will survive. So, buckle up, as this journey of life is interesting and exciting too.
Did I choose the right career? Yes, I definitely chose a right career; I was meant for it. My decision of coming to Bangalore far from my native place and choosing this career and college are absolutely right, and I’m not going to regret this in my life.
I’m still halfway in my journey, so I don’t know that what are the things waiting for me in the future, but till now, my college is supportive and is providing lot of chances for me to get my dream job.
Career selection:
As I’m still naive in giving pieces of advice, still, I want to tell one thing; choose your career according to your interest, because that’s going to make your job a play for you in which you are not going to get bored. Start finding your strengths because these are going to decide your future. One important thing is that don’t ever listen to your relatives. For me it was horrible. Take advice from others because it’s free but don’t listen to them. Your parents are enough for giving pieces of advice.
“Pieces of advice are like watches. Everyone will tell their time and for them, that’s right.”
If you’re still confused in deciding your own future/career, then remember one thing i.e. ”Beggars cannot be choosers.” So, don’t expect anything great from your life. I hope my words wouldn’t hurt anyone’s emotions. My intentions are only to wake you up that it’s your career, not of others, so decide yourself whether you want to become the CEO of your own life or just an employee of the other person.
