CEETA PG 2025: CEETA PG 2025 admissions are expected to start in the first week of January 2025. Also known as the Common Engineering Entrance Test and Admission—Postgraduate (CEETA PG), it is a state-level entrance test conducted by Anna University, Chennai, on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu to offer admissions to M.Tech/M.Arch/M.E/M.Plan. Earlier, Anna University conducted the TANCET exam to provide admission to postgraduate courses. From 2023, TANCET has been replaced by the CEETA PG entrance exam. 

The CEETA PG 2025 application form mode is online, and the exam takes place offline. The admission process for CEETA PG 2025 comprises registration, exam, counselling, etc. Candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the CEETA PG 2025 examination. To be eligible for admission, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in relevant fields with a minimum score of 50% (for the general category) and 45% for (the SC/ST category). What is CEETA PG?

CEETA PG is a state-level entrance test conducted by Anna University to offer admission to postgraduate programs. Based on CEETA PG scores and the counselling process, candidates are allotted seats for M.E, M.Tech, M.Arch, and M.Plan programmes at the following universities -

  • Anna Univesity Regional Campuses and University Colleges Engineering
  • Annamalai University
  • Government Engineering Colleges through Centralised Single Window Online-Counselling

In addition, government-funded engineering colleges and technical institutions funded by the Central Government affiliated with Anna University can participate in the CEETA PG 2025 admissions. A few self-financing engineering colleges also use CEETA PG scores for admission.

Q:   When will CEETA PG be held?

A:

CEETA PG is expected to take place in the second week of March. It is a 2 hour examination. The conducting bodies will soon announce the admission and exam dates for the CEETA PG. The exam will include multiple choice questions from Engineering Mathematics, Basic Engineering & Sciences and from respective disciplines.

Until 2022, the admissions were based on TANCET. CEETA PG 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Anna University will announce the CEETA PG 2025 eligibility criteria on the official website, tancet.annauniv.edu. Candidates applying for the CEETA PG 2025 admissions, must meet the eligibility criteria mentioned below. The CEETA PG eligibility for ME/MTech/MPlan/MArch admissions is below.    

(i) Hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum score of 50% (General category) or 45% (reserved categories)   

(1) BE/BTech/BArch degree    

(2) Master’s Degree in the relevant branch of Science / Arts   

(3) BPharm   

(4) 10 + 2 + AMIE (with 2 years experience)   

(5) 10 + 3-year diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE (with 2 years experience)   

(ii) Candidates in their final year/semester of the degree courses during their academic year, except for courses offered by a Professional Institution like AMIE, can apply for CEETA PG 2024.    

(iii) GATE candidates who want admission under CEET PG must appear for CEETA PG to be considered for admission.    

(iv) Candidates with a valid GATE score in 2023, 2024, or 2025 with qualifying marks for assistantship in XE (Engineering Science) or XL (Life Science) papers are eligible to appear for CEETA PG 2025.    

(v) Candidates from other states may also be eligible to appear for the entrance test, subject to the conditions set by the admitting authority/university.

To be eligible for CEETA PG (M.Arch) programs, candidates must have a bachelor's degree in architecture (B.Arch) with a minimum qualifying mark from a recognised university or institute. Candidates qualified as AIIA (Associateship Examination of the Indian Institute of Architects) with valid registration with the Council of Architecture are also eligible for CEETA PG admission.

CEETA PG 2025 Application Form

The CEETA PG 2025 application form is expected to be released in the second week of January 2025. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply. The form is online and must be submitted before the due date. Details entered on the application form had to be carefully checked before submission. Care should be taken with the information provided. Incorrect information may result in rejection and disciplinary action. Only online applications will be considered, and applications received through other means will be rejected. Ineligibility determined during verification of original certificates can result in loss of admission or continuation of study.  

The CEETA PG 2025 application form fees for the candidates are as follows -

  • For SC/ST/SCA of Tamil Nadu - INR 900 + GST on counselling fee of INR 400/-
  • For other applicants - INR 1800 +  GST on the counselling fee of INR 800/-

CEETA PG 2025 Admit Card

The admit card for CEETA PG will be available on the official website after registration. The CEETA PG 2025 Admit Card must be presented during the Entrance Test, Counselling, and Admission. If lost, a duplicate can be obtained by paying 300/- through a Demand Draft, with a written request to The Secretary (TANCET/CEETA-PG), Anna University, Chennai – 600 025 indicating the Registration No. / Application number and Examination Centre.   

CEETA PG 2025 Exam Pattern

CEETA PG 2025 will be conducted offline mode. The ME/ MTech/ MArch/ MPlan entrance exam will have three parts: Part I (Engineering Mathematics), Part II (Basic Engineering & Sciences), and Part III (specific to the respective discipline). Multiple Choice Questions are asked in the exam. 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer, and a deduction of ⅓ marks will be made for each incorrect one.    

Q:   Is there a negative marking in CEETA PG?

A:

There is negative marking in CEETA PG. For incorrect answers, the candidates will lose 1/3 mark. Marks will not be deducted for the questions left unanswered. Multiple shading will be considered as a wrong answer and a 1/3 mark will be reduced. Hence, candidates have to be very carefull while marking their answers. Since, CEETA PG has negative marking, students are advised to avoid guesswork and only answer the questions they are confident about.
