AFCAT Apply Online 2025: The Indian Air Force (IAF) released AFCAT 1 application form 2025 on December 2, 2024. The last date to apply for the exam is December 31, 2024. AFCAT 2 application form 2025 will be released in May 2025. The link to fill the application form will be activated along with AFCAT notification 2025. AFCAT application form filling process comprises several stages which candidates need to complete successfully. AFCAT application fees are INR 550 with GST charges. The application fees are common across various categories.

Q:   When AFCAT Application Form 2025 will be released?

Q:   I am a physics honors graduate. Am I eligible for AFCAT flying branch?

To be eligible for the Flying Branch in AFCAT you must have a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate and should have passed Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level. Additionally, you must have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or BE/B Tech degree (4-year course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. Course Preference: Applicants need to select, Flying, Ground Duty (Technical), Ground Duty (Non-Technical). Candidates who have graduation/post-graduation in Engineering/equivalent technical qualifications are required to appear in EKT. The examination authority reserves the right to allocate branches to candidates as per their suitability and vacancies, irrespective of the choices entered by the candidates.

AFSB/SSB appeared candidates: Candidates need to choose whether passed/failed/not appeared for AFSB/SSB interview. Besides, they need to enter the batch number, the place where they appeared, the number of days.

Source of information for AFCAT: Candidates need to list the source of information from where they came to know regarding the AFCAT exam.

GATE Score: Candidates need to enter their GATE score and the year they appeared in the exam.

Communication Details: Enter permanent and correspondence address in AFCAT application form

  • In the permanent address part, candidates will have to enter the full address, select State/Union Territories, select city, PIN code, nearest railway station, landline number, Aadhaar Card number among others
  • In the correspondence address part, candidates need to enter the full address, state, city, pin code, nearest railway station

Upload Documents: Candidates need to upload the scanned images of their photograph, signature, and Left Thumb Impression (LTI). The specifications related to the uploading of documents are given below:

  • The size of each file should be between 10 KB and 50KB

Q:   How to check the AFCAT payment status?

A:

Once the payment process is successful, the system displays the AFCAT registration number. This means that the payment is successful. Candidates must verify the correction of information entered in the application form before proceeding with the 'Make Payment' option. Applicants will not be able to edit the previous details entered after the selection of 'Course Preferences' step and after the 'Make Payment' step. No cash or cheque or demand draft (DD) is accepted towards payment of examination fee. The examination fee can be paid using credit/ debit cards/ net banking through the payment gateway. Applicants are advised to follow the instructions/ steps given on the payment gateway, and also print/keep the transaction details for their records. After confirmation from bank that the payment is received, the 'Payment Status' display 'Registration Number' which the candidate may note down for future correspondence. Simultaneously, candidates also receive a confirmatory sms/ e-mail.

What is AFCAT Eligibility?

Applicants filling AFCAT application form must check their eligibility before applying for the exam. The eligibility criteria are certain parameters in terms of age, educational qualification, physical standards and nationality which candidates need to fulfill inorder to qualify the exam. Candidates applying for the Flying Branch should be aged between 20 and 24 years while it is 20 and 26 years for the Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. Q:   What are the items prohibited at the AFCAT exam centre?

A:
Candidates are not allowed to carry certain items inside AFCAT exam centre. The following items are prohibited inside the exam centre premises: Blue tooth device, communication/ electronic/ digital/ wireless devices such as calculators, docupen, electronic watches with facilities of calculator, cellular phone, memory card/ stick, pager, organizer, personal digital assistant (PDA), concealed microphone or camera, earphones, radio, headset, walkman, recorder, translator, etc. Pencil-box, book, geometry box, paper, log tables, clip board, slide rule, etc. Personal items such as wristwatch/wristband, bracelets, handbags, ornaments, wallet, purse, head gear, scarf, goggles, jacket, eatables items, etc. Candidates are frisked by the exam centre officials before they are given entry to the exam centre. Candidates carrying these barred items need to deposit those at the entry. They can carry those while exiting the exam centre.

Q:   What is the dress code for AFCAT exam?

A:
AFCAT is one of the most sought-after defence exam in the country. The exam is conducted to select eligible candidates as gazetted officers in the Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. As it is the important defence exam in the country, therefore, the examination authority prescribes dress for candidates appearing in the exam. The guidelines related to dress code are given below: Candidates need to wear slippers/sandals with flat heels Closed footwear such as shoes is not allowed in the exam centre Clothes with large buttons are not permitted. Candidates wearing attire for religious purpose will be thoroughly frisked Candidates colour photograph will be taken during verification process. Candidates are required to put the thumb impression on the admit card in advance (at home) before proceeding to the examination centre and to sign on the same in front of the invigilators Candidates will be allowed to leave the exam hall after completion of AFCAT/EKT For rough work, A4 size sheet will be kept at each candidate's desk. Additional sheets will be provided to candidates on demand. Candidates are required to write name and particulars on the rough sheets and drop the same in the drop box/handover to the staff before leaving the exam hall.

Q:   Can I change the exam centre after AFCAT admit card is released?

A:
No. You cannot change the exam centre after AFCAT admit card has been issued. You cannot take the exam at any other centre other than the one mentioned in AFCAT admit card. Candidates should carefully think before selecting AFCAT admit card in the AFCAT application form. Select only those test cities which are convenient to travel. Candidates should choose the home city as the first test city. Candidates should not choose the test city that is far off from their home. The allotment of exam city depends on the examination authority. The examination authority try to allot test city as per their preferences. However, in case of unavailability of exam centres in the test city chosen by candidates, they are allotted to the different test city. There are cases where examination authority cancels the exam centres in case the number of applicants are less.

AFCAT Salary

AFCAT exam is conducted to select candidates for the post of Group A Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. The selection process comprises online test and AFSB interview. After clearing AFCAT exam, candidates clearing AFCAT exam are offered a salary of INR 56,100-1,77,500. In addition to AFCAT salary, Air Force Officers are entitled to various allowances based on the nature of duty/place of posting. The allowances that Air Force Officers are entitled to include Flying Allowance offered to Flying Branch Officers, Technical Allowance given to Technical Branch Officers. Candidates are also entitled to allowances such as Test Pilot & Flight Test Engineer, Field Area Allowance, Special Force, Siachen, Special Compensatory (Hill area), Island Special Duty, Area, and Remote Locality Allowance.

An extension of four years may be granted subject to service requirements, availability of vacancies, willingness, suitability and merit Grant of Permanent Commission (PC) would be considered subject to service requirements, availability of vacancies, willingness, suitability, merit and as per prevailing policies on the subject. SSC officers presently are not eligible for grant of pensionary benefits.

A:
There is no limit to the number of attempts the AFCAT exam. Candidates falling within the prescribed age limit can appear for the exam. As per AFCAT eligibility, applicants must be 20 to 24 years (at the time of commencement of course). The upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxed up to 26 years (at the time of commencement of course).
