AFCAT Exam Pattern 2025

AFCAT and EKT 2025 are conducted in computer-based mode. Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) is conducted for candidates who opt for the Ground Duty (Technical) branch. The language of the exam is English. A total of 100 questions are asked in the AFCAT exam while EKT carries 50 questions. Candidates get two hours to solve AFCAT paper while 45 minutes for EKT. The test paper of AFCAT comprises questions from General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, Military Reasoning, and Aptitude test.

EKT comprises questions from Mechanical, Computer Science, and Electrical & Electronics. The difficulty level of AFCAT syllabus is of graduation level. The total marks allotted to AFCAT are 300 while EKT carries 150 marks. Candidates qualifying the online test are called for AFSB interview. AFCAT exam pattern highlights the overall structure of the exam. The structure of the exam pattern is given below.

Q:   Is there any negative marking in AFCAT exam?

A:
Yes, there is a negative marking in AFCAT exam. For each wrong answer, one mark is deducted. For example, if a candidate attempts 20 questions from the Quant section and gets 18 questions correct but gets two questions incorrect. Then the candidate's score for this section will be calculated based on the formula 18x3-2, I. e. , 52. However, no marks are deducted for unanswered questions. Therefore, candidates must choose questions wisely basically the ones which they can answer correctly. Candidates should aim towards solving all the questions since there is a negative marking. They should solve questions that they are sure of. Candidates should also leave the questions that are time-taking. While answering questions, candidates should also take note of the time limit.

A:
There is no limit to the number of attempts the AFCAT exam. Candidates falling within the prescribed age limit can appear for the exam. As per AFCAT eligibility, applicants must be 20 to 24 years (at the time of commencement of course). The upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxed up to 26 years (at the time of commencement of course).

AFCAT Selection Process

The selection process of AFCAT comprises online exam and AFSB interview.
