The Indian Air Force (IAF) released the AFCAT 1 short notification 2025 on November 22, 2024. The detailed AFCAT 1 2025 notification was released on December 2, 2024. AFCAT 1 application form 2025 was released along with the notification on December 2, 2024. The last date to apply for the exam is December 31, 2024. AFCAT 1 2025 exam will be conducted on February 22 and 23, 2025. 

The short notification for AFCAT 2 2025 exam will be released in May 2024. The detailed notification for AFCAT 2 2025 will be released on June 1, 2025. Q:   What is AFCAT Exam Pattern?

A:
AFCAT exam pattern highlights the overall structure of the exam such as number of sections, weightage of topics, time duration, total marks, marking scheme, etc. AFCAT exam is divided into online test and AFSB interview. Besides AFCAT candidates who applies for the technical branch are required to appear for the Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT). AFCAT test comprises different sections such as General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English . Numerical Ability, Military Reasoning, and Aptitude test. EKT carries questions from Mechanical, Computer Science, and Electrical & Electronics. AFCAT carries a total of 100 questions whereas, EKT carries 50 questions. The total marks allotted to AFCAT are 300 whereas, EKT carries 150 marks. The duration of AFCAT exam is two hours whereas EKT is held for 45 minutes. Both AFCAT and EKT is held in online mode and the language of the question paper is English.

AFCAT notification PDF comprises the important details related to the exam such as selection process, eligibility, important dates, application process, exam pattern, syllabus, etc. Candidates must read the notification carefully before applying for the exam.

AFCAT 2025 Application Form

AFCAT 2025 application form is released along with the notification. The application form of AFCAT is comprised of two parts. In Part 1, candidates must register for the exam by entering the prescribed details. In part 2, candidates are required to fill the detailed AFCAT application form. AFCAT application fees, INR 250 across all categories, can be paid online only. The steps to apply online for AFCAT exam are given below:

AFCAT Eligibility 2025

Q:   How difficult is AFCAT exam?

A:
It is not that difficult to crack AFCAT if candidates follow the right strategy for preparation. Before beginning with the preparation, candidates must go through the AFCAT syllabus because it will help them to know the topics to be covered for the exam. After completing the syllabus, candidates must attempt the mock tests to analyse the level of their preparation. The tips and tricks to prepare for the exam are given below: Gain complete knowledge about the syllabus and exam pattern Candidates need to solve the previous years' question papers to know the types of questions asked in the exam Candidates should be thorough with the Current Affairs Candidates should attempt mock tests Candidates must make a proper strategy for the exam based on the topics given in the syllabus

Q:   Is there any negative marking in AFCAT exam?

A:
Yes, there is a negative marking in AFCAT exam. For each wrong answer, one mark is deducted. For example, if a candidate attempts 20 questions from the Quant section and gets 18 questions correct but gets two questions incorrect. Then the candidate's score for this section will be calculated based on the formula 18x3-2, I. e. , 52. However, no marks are deducted for unanswered questions. Therefore, candidates must choose questions wisely basically the ones which they can answer correctly. Candidates should aim towards solving all the questions since there is a negative marking. They should solve questions that they are sure of. Candidates should also leave the questions that are time-taking. While answering questions, candidates should also take note of the time limit.

Q:   What is section-wise weightage in AFCAT exam?

A:
AFCAT exam comprises sections such as General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English Numerical Ability, Military Reasoning, and Aptitude test. Out of the 100 questions, Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test carries 35 questions, Verbal ability in English carries 30 questions, Numerical Ability carries 15 questions, General Awareness carries 20 questions. The Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test section carries a total of 105 marks, Verbal ability in English carries a total of 90 marks, Numerical ability section carries a total of 45 marks, General Awareness section carries a total of 60 marks. Candidates can check below the section-wise weightage of AFCAT exam: Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test: 35 questions and 105 marks Logical Reasoning: 30 questions and 90 marks Numerical Ability: 15 questions and 45 marks General Awareness: 20 questions and 60 marks.

Q:   What is the time duration of AFCAT exam?

A:
AFCAT exam is conducted for two hours whereas EKT is held for 45 minutes. There is no sectional time limit in AFCAT exam. The candidates are allowed to leave the examination hall after the completion of the exam. AFCAT exam is conducted in two shifts. Shift 1 exam is conducted from 9.45 am to 11.45 am whereas Shift 2 is held from 2.15 pm to 4.15 pm. Candidates need to answer 100 questions in AFCAT exam within two hours. Candidates can divide time among the sections according to their convenience. Candidates can learn time management by practicing previous years' question papers and mock tests. The total marks allotted to AFCAT exam are 100.

Q:   How many attempts are in AFCAT?

A:
There is no limit to the number of attempts the AFCAT exam. Candidates falling within the prescribed age limit can appear for the exam. As per AFCAT eligibility, applicants must be 20 to 24 years (at the time of commencement of course). The upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxed up to 26 years (at the time of commencement of course).

Q:   Can I edit the details entered in AFCAT application form?

A:
Candidates can edit the details entered in the AFCAT application form through the online correction window made available by IAF. Candidates can edit the details such as name, father's name, mother's name, photograph, signature, and thumb impression image. Candidates are not required to pay any fee to make changes to the application form. The steps to make corrections in the application fees are given below: Visit the official website of IAF Go to the candidate's login page Enter the required credentials on the login page Click the application form correction link Candidates can correct their names, father's name, mother's name, uploaded photograph, signature and left thumb impression, etc. Candidates cannot edit the other details entered in the application form Correct the details and save it

Q:   Where can I download AFCAT admit card?

A:
AFCAT admit card is released online on the official website of IAF. The direct link to download the admit card is also provided on this page. Candidates need to download their admit cards online as the hard copy of it is not sent to candidates by post. The steps to download AFCAT admit card are given below: 1) Visit the official website of IAF 2) Go to the Candidate Login section on the home 3) Candidates need to click on the AFCAT cycle for which they have submitted their application forms 4) AFCAT login page opens 5) In the login page, candidates need to enter their email IDs, password and captcha code 6) AFCAT admit card appears on the screen 7) Download AFCAT admit card and take its printout 8) Candidates should keep their admit cards safely till the completion of recruitment process.

Eligibility criteria for the Air Force Common Admission Test AFCAT exam: Educational Qualification: Pass 10+2 with 60 percent in Maths and Physics. Physical Eligibility: For Flying Branch - 162.5 cm (for both men and female) For Ground duty (Tech-NON tech): Male -157.5 cm and Female -152cm. AFCAT 2025 Exam Pattern

AFCAT Exam Pattern is such that it is divided into online tests and AFSB tests. The online test comprises questions from General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test. The EKT, which is conducted for the Technical branch candidates, comprises questions from Mechanical, Computer Science, and Electrical & Electronics. The total marks allotted to the test are 300. Candidates qualifying the online test are called for AFSB interview. The AFSB interview is conducted in different stages. The first stage comprises Officer Intelligence Rating Test, Picture Perception Test, and Discussion Test, the second stage includes Psychological Test, Group Tests, and Interview. Candidates applying for the flying branch are required to appear in the Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS). The structure of AFCAT exam pattern 2025 is given below.

AFCAT 2025 vacancies will be announced along with the notification. In 2024, a total of 304 vacancies were announced for AFCAT 2 2024 exam and 317 vacancies were announced for AFCAT 1 2024 exam. Out of the total vacancies, 10 per cent of seats out of CDSE vacancies are reserved for Permanent Commission (PC). 10 per cent of seats out of AFCAT vacancy for Short Service Commission (SSC) are reserved for the NCC Special Entry Flying branch.
