APSET exam pattern 2024 has been prescribed by the Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. The APSET 2024 exam pattern highlights the overall structure of the exam including names of sections and subjects, the total number of questions, the marking scheme, exam duration, maximum marks and negative marking. The APSET exam comprises two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2 and the exam pattern of both papers is different. 

The APSET Paper 1 is common for all the candidates. The APSET 2024 Paper 1 is of Teaching and Research Aptitude and comprises objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs). On the other hand, Paper 2 is conducted in 30 subjects. Candidates need to select the APSET Paper 2 subject while filling out the online application form. Q:   How many papers are there in APSET exam?

A:

The APSET exam comprises two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both the papers are compulsory in the APSET examination. Have a look at the details of Paper 1 and Paper 2 below:

  • APSET Paper 1: The APSET Paper 1 exam carries 100 marks and is common for all candidates and comprises 50 compulsory objective type MCQs of two marks each. The duration of Paper 1 is one hour. The questions will be bilingual- English and Telugu. The Paper 1 subject is Teaching and Research Aptitude.
  • APSET Paper 2: The APSET Paper 2 is conducted for 30 subjects. It carries 200 marks and comprises 100 compulsory objective type MCQs of two marks each from the subject chosen by a candidate. The APSET Paper 2 exam duration is two hours.

Q:   What is the APSET exam pattern?

A:
The pattern of the APSET exam is decided by Andhra University. It is similar to the UGC NET exam to some extent, as follows: 1. The question papers are usually in two languages: Telugu and English . 2. There are two papers in APSET paper 1 and paper 2. 3. The paper one consists of 50 questions about general aptitude. 4. Paper 2 consists of 100 core subjects based on your master's qualification. 5. Each question is worth two marks in both question papers. 6. The total time allotted to complete both papers in three hours 7. You have one hour for paper 1 and two hours for paper 2. 8. For paper 1, you can refer to the UGC NET paper 1 to get an idea of the questions being asked. 9. The questions in Paper 2 are master's level and MCQ in nature. 10. There are around 30 subjects to choose from for paper 2.

The APSET 2024 exam was held on April 28, 2024. Andhra University, Visakhapatnam carried out the APSET exam 2024 in eight regional centres across the state. The Andhra Pradesh SET exam was conducted for 30 subjects. The APSET Paper 1 is common for all and for Paper 2, candidates need to choose a subject from the list of 30 subjects. The APSET Paper 1 is of 100 marks and Paper 2 is of 200 marks.

APSET Paper Pattern 2024: List of Subjects

APSET Paper 1 is a general paper comprising questions from the Teaching and Research Aptitude subject. However, the APSET Paper 2 is conducted for 30 subjects wherein Commerce, Economics, Education, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, and Social Work subjects will be conducted bilingually (English and Telugu) and all the other subjects will be conducted in English only. Q:   What is the syllabus & exam pattern of the APSET ? Which are the most important topics to focus in the APSET and why?

APSET is an offline exam organized by Andhra University. Exam pattern of APSET as follows: - There are 3 exams in which 75 minutes are given for paper 1 and 2 and 150 minutes are given for paper 3 and all the questions are objective type. There is no negative marking for any wrong answer. Now see the details about all 3 papers and their syllabuses: Paper I Paper I contains 60 questions in which 50 question are compulsory and of 2 marks each. Syllabus for Paper I is General paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude. Paper II: Paper II contains 50 questions in which all question are compulsory to attempt in 75 Minutes. 2 marks awarded for correct answer. Syllabus for Paper II is the chosen subject. Questions are only from selected subjects. Paper III: Paper III contains 75 questions in which all question are compulsory to attempt in 150 Minutes. Syllabus for Paper III is the selected subject in which question are from in depth topics. Most important topics for Paper I are Reasoning, Research Aptitude, Data Interpretation and Higher Education System, and for Paper II and III varies from subject to subject.

Q:   Is there any negative marking in APSET?

A:

No, there is no negative marking in the APSET exam. In the APSET exam, Paper 1 and Paper 2 combinedly contain 150 objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Paper 1 comprises 50 questions of 100 marks and Paper 2 comprises 100 MCQs of 200 marks. Each question is of 2 marks. However, there is no negative marking for wrong answers or unattempted questions in the APSET exam.

The APSET exam consists of two papers to be attempted in three hours. The marking scheme of the APSET is as follows:

  1. Paper one, which is general paper, consists of 50 questions.
  2. Each question on this paper is worth two marks.
  3. The maximum mark in this paper is 100.
  4. Paper two is the subject paper, which consists of 100 questions.
  5. The questions in this paper are also worth two marks each.
  6. The maximum score on Paper 2 of the APSET is 200.
  7. There is no negative marking for any wrong answer in this exam.

Q:   What is the qualifying percentage for APSET?

A:

In the APSET exam, 6 per cent of candidates who have cleared both papers are declared qualified for the eligibility for Assistant Professor/Lecturership. Candidates need to obtain the APSET qualifying marks to clear the papers. Candidates who have secured at least 40 per cent marks (General Category) and 35 per cent marks (reserved categories) in both papers combined together are declared qualified in the exam for Assistant Professor/Lecturership.

Q:   Is APSET a recruitment exam?

A:

No, APSET is not a recruitment exam, it is an eligibility exam. Candidates who clear the APSET exam become eligible to apply for the recruitment of Assistant Professors or Lecturers in the colleges and universities of Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Pradesh SET exam only determines the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professors or Lecturers.
