In the APSET exam, 6 per cent of candidates who have cleared both papers are declared qualified for the eligibility for Assistant Professor/Lecturership. Q: Is there any negative marking in APSET?
No, there is no negative marking in the APSET exam. In the APSET exam, Paper 1 and Paper 2 combinedly contain 150 objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Paper 1 comprises 50 questions of 100 marks and Paper 2 comprises 100 MCQs of 200 marks. Each question is of 2 marks. However, there is no negative marking for wrong answers or unattempted questions in the APSET exam.

The APSET validity is for a lifetime. Q: What is the use of APSET?
The Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET) is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professors or Lecturers in the colleges and universities of Andhra Pradesh. The APSET exam is conducted in 30 subjects. There is no limit on number of attempts in the APSET exam. However, candidates need to fulfill the APSET eligibility criteria to appear for the exam.
Q: What is the marking scheme of the APSET?
The APSET exam consists of two papers to be attempted in three hours. The marking scheme of the APSET is as follows:
- Paper one, which is general paper, consists of 50 questions.
- Each question on this paper is worth two marks.
- The maximum mark in this paper is 100.
- Paper two is the subject paper, which consists of 100 questions.
- The questions in this paper are also worth two marks each.
- The maximum score on Paper 2 of the APSET is 200.
- There is no negative marking for any wrong answer in this exam.
APSET 2024 Result Preparation Criteria
The APSET exam result is prepared by the Andhra University. The result and the qualification status of candidates in the APSET exam are decided as per the norms laid down by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The UGC criteria based on which the APSET result 2024 is declared is as follows:
“The top 6% of the candidates who appear in both papers and secure at least 40 per cent aggregate marks for candidates belonging to the General Category and at least 35 per cent aggregate marks for candidates belonging to reserved categories will be declared qualified for Eligibility for Assistant Professor/ Lectureship by following the reservation policy of the State Government”.
These 6 per cent candidates would be distributed among various categories as per the reservation policy, such as - BC-A (7%), BC-B (10%), BC-C (1%), BC-D (7%), BC-E (4%), SC (15%), ST (6%). In each category, 33.33% of Women category and 4% of PWD candidates are given reservations vertically.
Q: I have not cleared the APSET exam. Can I appear for the exam again?
Yes you can appear for the APSET exam again If you fail to clear the exam. There is no limit on the number of attempts in the APSET examination. Candidates who have already cleared the APSET exam and still want to improve their scores can also reappear for the exam. The APSET exam is conducted every year by the Andhra University, Visakhapatnam to determine the eligibility of candidates as Assistant Professor or Lecturers in Universities and Colleges of the state.
