ICG AC application form 2026 for 01/2026 batch released on December 5, 2024. The last date to apply for the exam is  December 24, 2024. The application fee is INR 250 and can be paid online. SC/ST candidates were exempted from fee payment. Candidates can apply for only one post in Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant such as either Assistant Commandant (GD) or Assistant Commandant {GD (P/N) or Assistant Commandant (Women-SSA) or Assistant Commandant (Tech(Engg) or Assistant Commandant (Tech(Elec)) or Assistant Commandant (CPL-SSA) or Assistant Commandant (Law).

All the candidates willing to apply for the posts need to follow the steps given below diligently in order to avoid any mistake in application:

  • Candidates have to visit the official website of the exam, joinindiancoastguard.gov.in
  • Click on the ‘Opportunities’ button given at the upper right corner of the page
  • Select the advertisement for Recruitment of Assistant Commandant- 01/2026 Batch 
  • Click on the 'I Agree' button and the 'Online Application' form will appear on the screen
  • Proceed to fill the application form. All star (*) marked entries must be filled as these all are compulsory fields. Provide your basic details such as name, parents name, address for communication, mobile number, email id, education qualification, marks/percentage in different exams, etc.
  • Candidates have to upload their scanned photograph and signature in the formats given below.

  • After successful registration, a unique system generated Application/Registration number will be sent to the candidates to their registered email Id. This Application/Registration number will be used for future communications with the exam conducting body.

Rejection of Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Online Application

The online application form of Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant might be rejected for the following reasons:

  • Candidates not meeting the eligibility criteria will receive a ‘Rejection Slip’ which will display the cause of rejection with the application number
  • Application without a valid mobile number or email id will be rejected
  • If any candidate is unable to provide the educational certificates in original during document verification, his application will be cancelled

Documents to be Uploaded in Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Application Form

Candidates are required to upload documents in two phases. Few documents are required at the time of filling the application form while a few are required to be uploaded if shortlisted for Stage II. The list of documents that candidates need to upload at the time of application and Stage II is given below:

Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Eligibility Criteria

The post-wise eligibility criteria is given below.

Post Educational Qualification Age Limit

General Duty GD/Pilot/Navigator/Women SSA

Bachelor degree with 60 per cent with Maths, Physics as a subject upto Class 12 level or equivalent

 

Candidates must have born between July 1, 1998 to June 30, 2002

Commercial Pilot CPL SSA

Candidates should have a Class 12 or equivalent qualification with Physics and Mathematics as subject and should have 55 per cent in each of the subjects. Candidates who have completed the diploma are also eligible, they should possess an aggregate of 55 per cent with Physics and Mathematics. They should possess current commercial pilot license issued/validated by Director General Civil Aviation.

Candidates must have born between July 1, 1998 to June 30, 2004.

 

 

Technical Mechanical

Candidates should have Engineering degree from recognised university in Naval Architecture or Mechanical or Marine or Automotive or Industrial and production or Metallurgy or design or Aeronautical or Aerospace with minimum 60 per cent aggregate marks.

Candidates must have born between July 1, 1998 to June 30, 2002.

 

Technical Electrical/Electronics

Candidates should have an Engineering degree in Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunication or Instrumentation or Instrumentation and Control or Electronics and Communication or Power Engineering or Power Electronics with 60 per cent marks.

Candidates must have born between July 1, 1998 to June 30, 2002

Law Entry

Candidates need to have a degree in law from a recognised university.

Q:   What is Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant age limit?

A:

To apply for Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant exam, the age of candidates should be between 21 and 25 years. Relaxation in the age limit will be given to candidates belonging to reserved categories. 5 years relaxation will be given to SC/ST and 3 years to OBC. 5 years age relaxation will be given to personnel serving in Coast Guard or equivalent personnel in Army or Navy or Air Force.

Q:   What is screening test of Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant?

A:

Candidates applying for Assistant Commandant (GD) will appear for section I of computer based screening test, which will consists of 100 questions (4 marks for each correct answer). Stage I examination will be conducted on PAN India basis for a duration of two hours. Section I is divided into four subsections consist of English, Reasoning & Numerical Ability, General Science & Mathematical aptitude and General Knowledge.

Q:   What is the process of Assistant Commandant final selection Board?

A:

The candidates qualifying for Stage-III will be intimated on completion of stage-II at respective centres. The schedule of Stage-III will be intimated to the candidate on personal Login IDs. The FSB call up letter along with reporting instructions will be intimated to candidates on personal Login IDs. FSB is conducted at the Coast Guard Selection Board (CGSB) located at Noida and spans over five days. The candidates are subjected to Psychological Test, Group Task and Interview (Personality test). The Final Selection will be conducted tentatively from Jul - Oct 2024. All documents/certificates verified during PSB are also required to be produced in originals during FSB. Board conference is held on last day and thereafter recommended candidates are sent for Stage-IV i.e. Special medical examination.

Q:   What is Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant selection process?

The selection of Assistant Commandant (GD) is based on an all India order of merit which is based on the performance of candidate in various stages (I – V) of examination (explained in detail below) and the number of vacancies available for the post. Clearing of Stage I, II, III, IV and V is compulsory for recruitment in ICG. All candidates will be compulsorily subjected to biometric, photo identification and document verification during various stages of examination. Various stages of CGCAT are as follows:

(1) Stage-I (Screening Test)

(2) Stage-II ( Preliminary Selection Board)

(3) Stage-III ( Final Selection Board)

(4) Stage-IV (Medical examination)

Q:   What is the process of Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant medical exam?

A:

The candidates who clear Stage-III are required to undergo a special medical examination at Base Hospital, New Delhi. Candidates declared unfit in Special Medical Board (SMB) will be included in the merit list as they have the option to appeal the verdict and will report for appeal medicals at designated service hospital within 42 days of completion of SMB. If declared unfit during appeal medicals, such candidates have the option to request the Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) through Directorate of Recruitment, Coast Guard Headquarters for review of the results. Service Headquarters will consider such request and RMB will be granted based on the merits of the case. RMB is not a matter of right. If the review is approved, the designated hospital for conduct of the review will be indicated in the approval. The decision of the Review Medical Board (RMB) will be final and no further appeal will be accepted.

Q:   What is the preliminary selection board process in ICG Assistant Commandant?

A:

Based on the performance in the Stage-I, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in Stage-II (PSB)which will be conducted for a day at Noida, Mumbai/Goa, Chennai and Kolkata centres. Candidates to give the choice of PSB centre at the time of filling of application form. Candidates will be screened through Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and Picture Perception & Discussion (PP&DT). The CCBT will be in English only and will be of objective type. During PP&DT the candidates are expected to speak and discuss in English. However, they are free to speak in Hindi if they wish to do so. The Stage-II examination is only of qualifying nature i.e. either Pass or Fail.

Q:   What is the candidate verification in Assistant Commandant exam?

A:

Candidates reporting for Stage-II will first undergo photo and biometric verification. The photo captured & biometric recorded during Stage-II is to be verified with the captured photo & biometric recorded during the Stage-I. If the biometric (thumb impression) of a candidate at Stage-II does not match with the biometric captured at Stage-I, the document verification team is empowered to establish the identity/ genuineness of the candidate by approved procedures by Competent Authority and recapture the Biometric of the candidate for verification in the subsequent stages. However if the document verification team is not convinced with the genuineness of the candidate after manual verification process as mentioned above, then the candidature of the candidate will be cancelled.

Q:   What is document verification process in Assistant Commandant exam?

A:

The candidates who have cleared PSB will undergo document verification. The original documents brought by candidates will be verified as per the documents uploaded by the candidates during registration for StageII. In case of any discrepancy, the candidature will be cancelled and a ‘Rejection Slip’ indicating the reasons for rejection will be handed over to the candidate.

The medical standard prescribed for Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant exam is given below:

Height: Candidates should be 157 cms. Reduction in minimum height for candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas will be in accordance with the Central Govt. regulations.
