ICG AC Selection Process 2025: The selection of Assistant Commandant recruitment in the Indian Coast Guard is done on the basis of merit. ICG AC selection process 2025 is done on the performance of candidates in various stages (I to 5) of examination and the number of vacancies available for the post. Clearing of ICG AC Stage I, II, III, IV and V is compulsory for recruitment in ICG. All candidates will be compulsorily subjected to biometric, photo identification and document verification during various stages of the exam. Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Selection Procedure
Below find different stages of the selection process for Indian Coast Guard assistant commandant:
Stage 1: The stage 1 include conduct of screening Test for the eligible applicants which will be a computer based exam at various centres all over india. Screening test is to be conducted for candidates applying for the post of GD/CPL and Technical(Mechanical/Electrical & Electronics).The screening test will be conducted in MCQ pattern with maximum marks of 400 consisting of 100 questions. For correct answer, candidates score four marks and one negative marking for each incorrect answer. The duration of the exam will be of two hours and medium of test paper will be English.
Important Points to Note:
- All India category-wise merit list for Stage1 will be prepared on the basis of marks scored in Stage-I (CGCAT) of CGCAT examination and DOB. If merit is tied at last shortlisted candidate, than all the candidates having same marks will be shortlisted for stage II (PSB)
- Indian Coast Guard has the discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all subjects of the examination for shortlisting of candidates for stage-II (PSB)

Stage II (Preliminary Selection Board (PSB): Based on the performance in the Stage 1, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in Stage-2 (PSB) which will be conducted for a day at Noida, Mumbai/Goa, Chennai and Kolkata centres. Candidates to give the choice of PSB centre at the time of filling of application form. Candidates will be screened through Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and Picture Perception & Discussion (PP&DT). The CCBT will be in English only and will be of objective type. During PP&DT the candidates are expected to speak and discuss in English. However, they are free to speak in Hindi if they wish to do so. The Stage-2 examination is only of qualifying nature i.e. either Pass or Fail.
Important Note:
Candidate’s Verification: Candidates reporting for Stage-2 will first undergo photo and biometric verification. The photo capture & biometric recorded during Stage-2 is to be verified with the captured photo & biometric recorded during the Stage-1. If the biometric is not matching with the screening data, then the candidature will be cancelled. The biometric database will be stored for further stages of examination.
Documents Verification: The candidates who have cleared PSB will undergo document verification. The original documents brought by candidates will be verified as per the documents uploaded by the candidates during registration for Stage II. In case of any discrepancy, the candidature will be cancelled and a ‘Rejection Slip’ indicating the reasons for rejection will be handed over to the candidate.
Stage 3 (Final Selection Board (FSB): The candidates qualifying for Stage-3 will be intimated on completion of stage-2 at respective centres. The schedule of Stage-3 will be intimated to the candidate on personal Login IDs. The FSB call up letter along with reporting instructions will be intimated to candidates on personal Login IDs. FSB is conducted at the Coast Guard Selection Board (CGSB) located at Noida and spans over five days. The candidates are subjected to Psychological Test, Group Task and Interview (Personality test). All documents/certificates verified during PSB are also required to be produced in originals during FSB. Board conference is held on last day and thereafter recommended candidates are sent for Stage 4 i.e. Special medical examination.
Stage-IV (Medical Examination): The candidates who clear Stage-3 are required to undergo a special medical examination at Base Hospital, New Delhi. Candidates declared unfit in Special Medical Board(SMB) are included in the merit list, because the candidates declared unfit in SMB have the liberty to appeal the verdict and will report for appeal medicals at designated service hospital within 42 days of completion of SMB. If declared unfit during appeal medicals, they have the option for asking for a review of the results. In this case, the approval of the review is accorded from Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) through Directorate of Medical Services/CGHQ. If the review is approved, the designated hospital for the conduct of the review is indicated in the approval. The decision of Review Medical Board (RMB) will be final and no further appeal will be accepted.
Stage-V (Induction): The candidates who clear Stage-IV and stand in All India Merit List as per the vacancies available will be provisionally selected for training and will be required to report at INA Ezhimala for Naval Orientation Course (NOC) as per the instructions. All India Merit List will be based on combined marks of Stage-I and Stage-III.Candidates reporting at INA Ezhimala for training will first undergo photo and biometric verification.
Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Validity of Selection
The selection of the candidates for a particular batch is valid for that particular batch only. Qualified candidates whose names do not appear in the final merit list will have no rights for automatic selection for the next batch. If those candidates want to join the service, they have to appear for the exam again next year following due procedure.

The educational qualification prescribed for Indian Coast Assistant exam is given below:
- Should hold a degree of recognised university with minimum 60% aggregate marks for General/OBC/EWS candidates and 55% aggregate for SC/ST candidates.
- Mathematics and Physics as subject up to Intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with minimum 55% aggregate marks in Mathematics and Physics. The candidates who have completed graduation after diploma, are also eligible, provided they should possess an aggregate of 55% marks in Diploma with physics and mathematics in its curriculum.

The medical standard prescribed for Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant exam is given below:
Height: Candidates should be 157 cms. Reduction in minimum height for candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas will be in accordance with the Central Govt. regulations.

Candidates reporting for Stage-II will first undergo photo and biometric verification. The photo captured & biometric recorded during Stage-II is to be verified with the captured photo & biometric recorded during the Stage-I. If the biometric (thumb impression) of a candidate at Stage-II does not match with the biometric captured at Stage-I, the document verification team is empowered to establish the identity/ genuineness of the candidate by approved procedures by Competent Authority and recapture the Biometric of the candidate for verification in the subsequent stages. However if the document verification team is not convinced with the genuineness of the candidate after manual verification process as mentioned above, then the candidature of the candidate will be cancelled.

To apply for Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant exam, the age of candidates should be between 21 and 25 years. Relaxation in the age limit will be given to candidates belonging to reserved categories. 5 years relaxation will be given to SC/ST and 3 years to OBC. 5 years age relaxation will be given to personnel serving in Coast Guard or equivalent personnel in Army or Navy or Air Force.
