Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant notification 2026 was released for 01/2026 batch. The notification was released in PDF form and comprises exam-related information. Candidates must check the notification before applying for the exam.

Indian Coast Guard Application Form 2026

Indian Coast Guard 2026 application form is made available online. Candidates are required to register themselves with email ID/mobile number. Candidates can apply for only one post. Candidates are required to upload documents in two phases. Few documents are required at the online application stage and few are to be uploaded if shortlisted for stage II. The application fee is INR 250 and can be paid online. SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment of fees.

The eligibility criteria of Assistant Commandant is given below:

Candidates must have born between July 1, 1998 to June 30, 2002 (Five years relaxation for personnel serving in Coast Guard or equivalent personnel in Army/Navy/Air Force)

Commercial Pilot CPL SSA

Candidates should have a Class 12 or equivalent qualification with Physics and Mathematics as subject and should have 55 per cent in each of the subjects. Candidates who have completed the diploma are also eligible, they should possess an aggregate of 55 per cent with Physics and Mathematics. They should possess current commercial pilot license issued/validated by Director General Civil Aviation.

Candidates must have born between July 1, 1998 to June 30, 2004

 

 

Technical Mechanical

Candidates should have Engineering degree from recognised university in Naval Architecture or Mechanical or Marine or Automotive or Industrial and production or Metallurgy or design or Aeronautical or Aerospace with minimum 60 per cent aggregate marks.

Candidates must have born between July 1, 1998 to June 30, 2002 (Five years relaxation for personnel serving in Coast Guard)

 

Technical Electrical/Electronics

Candidates should have an Engineering degree in Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunication or Instrumentation or Instrumentation and Control or Electronics and Communication or Power Engineering or Power Electronics with 60 per cent marks.

Candidates must have born between July 1, 1998 to June 30, 2002 (Five years relaxation for personnel serving in Coast Guard)

Law Entry

Candidates need to have a degree in law from a recognised university.

Candidates must have born between July 1, 1993 to June 30, 2002

Few important points related to the eligibility criteria are given below:
  • Maximum five percent relaxation in aggregate in the degree certificate for SC/ST candidates. No relaxation is applicable for Class 12 marks except CPL-SSA entry
  • Only the candidates who have cleared final year of their degree are eligible to apply
  • Candidates should not have any past record of detention or prosecution
  • Candidates from reserved category will enjoy age relaxation as per government rules
  • Candidates who have not completed their Law Degree yet, need not apply. The application will not be accepted in such cases
  • SC/ST candidates, NCC ’C’ (A grade) holders, Sports person of National level (Inter State & above) and wards of Coast Guard uniform personnel deceased while in service will get maximum 5 per cent relaxation in aggregate in the marks obtained in degree. This relaxation rule is not applicable for Class 12 marks

Indian Coast Guard exam pattern is such that it is divided into Stage I, II, III, IV and V. The exam pattern is different for different stages of selection. Indian Coast Guard exam pattern is explained below in detail.

Stage II: This stage comprises Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and Picture Perception &Discussion Test (PP&DT).

Stage V: Candidates who clear Stage IV are selected for training on the basis of the performance in Stage I and III

Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Selection Process

The selection process of Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant selection process is explained below:

Stage-I (Screening Test): All registered candidates are required to appear for screening test. The test comprises MCQ pattern questions with maximum 400 marks. The total number of questions are 100. The duration of the test is two hours. All India category wise merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks scored in Stage-I (Screening Test) of CGCAT examination.

Stage-II (PSB): This stage is conducted for the shortlisted candidates of Stage I exam. The test comprises Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT). The Stage-II examination is only of qualifying nature. 

Stage-III Final Selection Board (FSB): FSB is conducted for over five days. This stage comprises Psychological Test, Group Task and Interview (Personality test). The board conference is held on the last day and thereafter recommended candidates are sent for Stage-IV i.e. initial medical examination. 

Stage-IV: The candidates who clear Stage-III are required to undergo a special medical examination at Base Hospital, New Delhi. Candidates declared unfit in Special Medical Board(SMB) are included in the merit list, because the candidates declared unfit in SMB have the liberty to appeal the verdict and will report for appeal medicals at designated service hospital within 42 days of completion of SMB. If declared unfit during appeal medicals, they have the option for asking for a review of the results. In this case, the approval of the review is accorded from Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) through Directorate of Medical Services/CGHQ. If the review is approved, the designated hospital for the conduct of the review is indicated in the approval. The decision of RMB will be final and no further appeal will be accepted.

Stage V: Candidates who clear Stage IV and stand in All India Merit List will be provisionally selected for training and are required to report at INA Ezhimala for Naval Orientation Course (NOC) as per the instructions. The All India Merit List is based on combined marks of Stage-I and Stage-III. Candidates reporting at INA Ezhimala for training are required to first undergo photo and biometric verification.

Indian Coast Guard Exam Centres 

The screening test will be conducted at multiple exam centres spread throughout the country. Candidates are required to give preferences for exam city in the application form for Stage I process. Candidates are to fill first choice within 30 kms from the present/ communication residence. If no examination city is within 30 kms from the current
address then the nearest city from current address has to be the first choice of the candidate. Stage II exam will be conducted at Noida, Mumbai/Goa, Chennai and Kolkata centres. Stage III exam will be conducted at the Coast Guard Selection Board (CGSB), Noida. Stage IV will be conducted at Base Hospital, New Delhi. 

Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Admit Card 2026

Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant admit card will be released online for different stages of exam. To download the admit card, candidates need to enter the required credentials. The hard copy of the admit card is not sent to candidates by post. 

Indian Coast Guard Result

Indian Coast Guard result for each stage of selection procedure from Stage-I to V is declared online. Candidates can download their results by logging with the required credential. The Stage I result is announced tentatively within 30 days.

The candidates who have cleared PSB will undergo document verification. The original documents brought by candidates will be verified as per the documents uploaded by the candidates during registration for StageII. In case of any discrepancy, the candidature will be cancelled and a ‘Rejection Slip’ indicating the reasons for rejection will be handed over to the candidate.

Q:   What is the process of Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant medical exam?

A:

The candidates who clear Stage-III are required to undergo a special medical examination at Base Hospital, New Delhi. Candidates declared unfit in Special Medical Board (SMB) will be included in the merit list as they have the option to appeal the verdict and will report for appeal medicals at designated service hospital within 42 days of completion of SMB. Q:   What is the preliminary selection board process in ICG Assistant Commandant?

A:

Based on the performance in the Stage-I, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in Stage-II (PSB)which will be conducted for a day at Noida, Mumbai/Goa, Chennai and Kolkata centres. Candidates to give the choice of PSB centre at the time of filling of application form. Candidates will be screened through Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and Picture Perception & Discussion (PP&DT). The CCBT will be in English only and will be of objective type. During PP&DT the candidates are expected to speak and discuss in English. However, they are free to speak in Hindi if they wish to do so. The Stage-II examination is only of qualifying nature i.e. either Pass or Fail.

Q:   What is the process of Assistant Commandant final selection Board?

A:

The candidates qualifying for Stage-III will be intimated on completion of stage-II at respective centres. The schedule of Stage-III will be intimated to the candidate on personal Login IDs. The FSB call up letter along with reporting instructions will be intimated to candidates on personal Login IDs. FSB is conducted at the Coast Guard Selection Board (CGSB) located at Noida and spans over five days. The candidates are subjected to Psychological Test, Group Task and Interview (Personality test). The Final Selection will be conducted tentatively from Jul - Oct 2024. All documents/certificates verified during PSB are also required to be produced in originals during FSB. Board conference is held on last day and thereafter recommended candidates are sent for Stage-IV i.e. Special medical examination.

Q:   What is the candidate verification in Assistant Commandant exam?

A:

Candidates reporting for Stage-II will first undergo photo and biometric verification. The photo captured & biometric recorded during Stage-II is to be verified with the captured photo & biometric recorded during the Stage-I. If the biometric (thumb impression) of a candidate at Stage-II does not match with the biometric captured at Stage-I, the document verification team is empowered to establish the identity/ genuineness of the candidate by approved procedures by Competent Authority and recapture the Biometric of the candidate for verification in the subsequent stages. However if the document verification team is not convinced with the genuineness of the candidate after manual verification process as mentioned above, then the candidature of the candidate will be cancelled.

Q:   What is Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant selection process?

The selection of Assistant Commandant (GD) is based on an all India order of merit which is based on the performance of candidate in various stages (I – V) of examination (explained in detail below) and the number of vacancies available for the post. Clearing of Stage I, II, III, IV and V is compulsory for recruitment in ICG. All candidates will be compulsorily subjected to biometric, photo identification and document verification during various stages of examination. Various stages of CGCAT are as follows:
