MAHA TET exam pattern 2024 is prescribed by the Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE). The Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHA TET) exam is conducted for two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. MAHA TET Paper 1 is conducted for candidates who want to teach Classes 1 to 5 and Paper 2 is for aspirants who want to teach Classes 6 to 8. Candidates who wish to teach Classes 1 to 8 need to appear for both papers. The nature and standard of questions asked in Papers 1 and 2 are based on the MAHA TET exam pattern. Given below is the complete MAHA TET exam pattern 2024 for both papers.

Q:   How many papers are there in MAHA TET exam?

A: 

The MAHA TET exam comprises two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. The MAHA TET Paper 1 is for candidates who want to teach Classes 1 to 5 and Paper 2 is for candidates who want to teach Classes 6 to 8. Candidates who want to teach Classes 1 to 8 need to appear for both the papers. In each paper, candidates are asked 150 objective-type multiple choice questions (MCQs).

Q:   Is there negative marking in MAHA TET exam?

A: 

No, there is no negative marking in the MAHA TET examination. Candidates are given zero marks for wrong or incorrect answers in the exam. The MAHA TET exam comprises a total 150 questions in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 and each question carries 1 mark. For each correct answer in the exam, candidates are given 1 mark and 0 for the incorrect answer. There is no negative marking for incorrect answer or unattempted question in the MAHA TET exam.

Nature and Level of Questions in MAHA TET Paper 1

  • In the Child Psychology and Pedagogy section, questions are related to the educational psychology and teaching-learning process of students in the age group of 6-11 years. The section also includes questions on children with special needs, their characteristics, school interaction and the characteristics of a good teacher. To prepare for this section, candidates can refer to the current syllabus of the teacher diploma.  
  • In Language-I, candidates have the option to choose from English, Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Telugu, Sindhi and Kannada
  • In Language-II, candidates have the option to choose from English and Marathi
  • Questions in the Mathematics section are aimed to test candidates’ knowledge of basic principles of mathematics, logic and problem solving
  • Questions in the Environmental Studies section are related to topics such as History, Civics, Geography, General Science and Environment

A: 

The MAHA TET exam is valid for life. Candidates who clear the MAHA TET exam are awarded the eligibility certificates. The MAHA TET Certificate holds the lifetime validity. However, the MAHA TET certificate was valid for only 7 years earlier. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) extended the validity of the State TET and CTET certificates to lifetime in the year 2020.

Nature and Level of Questions in MAHA TET Paper 2

  • In the Child Psychology and Pedagogy section, questions are related to the educational psychology and teaching-learning process of students in the age group of 11-14 years. The section also includes questions on children with special needs, their characteristics, school interaction and the characteristics of a good teacher. To prepare for this section, candidates can refer to the current syllabus of the teacher diploma course relevant for the age group of 11-14 years.  
  • In Language-I, candidates have the option to choose from English, Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Telugu, Sindhi and Kannada
  • In Language-II, candidates have the option to choose from English and Marathi
  • In Mathematics and Science subject group, there are 30 questions each on Mathematics and Science. Questions in this section test candidates’ fundamental knowledge of Mathematics and Science subjects and problem-solving ability.
  • Questions in Social Sciences section test candidates’ concepts, content and pedagogical knowledge of Social Sciences subject
