RRB Group D Exam Analysis 2025: Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) conducts RRB Group D exam to select candidates for various level 1 posts. Q:   What is RRB Group D normalisation?

A:
RRBs follow percentile-based normalisation in the RRB Group D exam. The percentile score of each candidate is converted into normalised marks by inserting the raw marks into the base shift. The calculation of base shift is done by using the standard mathematical formula of interpolation. The percentile score indicates the percentage of candidates that have scored equal to or below (same or lower raw scores) that particular percentile in that examination.

Q:   What is percentile based marks calculation in RRB Group D exam?

A:

Percentile scores are scores based on the relative performance of all candidates who appear for the examination. The marks obtained are transformed into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each shift. The percentile score indicates the percentage of candidates that have scored equal to or below (same or lower raw scores) that particular percentile in that examination. Therefore, the topper (the highest score) of each shift get the same percentile of 100 which is desirable. In percentitle-based normalisation, the marks obtained between the highest and the lowest scores are also converted to appropriate percentiles. In case of two or more candidates secure same normalised percentile score, their merit position is determined by age criteria.

Q:   Is there any qualifying marks in RRB Group D exam?

A:

Yes, there are qualifying marks in RRB Group D exam. The qualifying marks for your and EWS categories are 40 and 30 for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, and ST. These percentage of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2 per cent for PwBD candidates in case of shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them. Besides the cut off marks, candidates are required to secure the qualifying as per their categories to qualify the exam. For each correct answer in RRB Group D exam, candidates score one mark. 1/3 marks are deducted for wrong answers. The category-wise RRB Group D qualifying marks is given below.

RRB Group D Exam Pattern 2025

RRB Group D exam pattern comprises four sections. The exam is conducted in 15 languages. The total duration of the test is 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied by the scribe). The test paper comprises a total of 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions. The total marks allotted to the test are 100. The structure of RRB Group D exam pattern is given below.

Q:   What is RRB Group D exam pattern?

A:

The CBT of RRB Group D exam comprises four sections-General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning and General Awareness and Current Affairs. Total marks allotted to CBT are 100. Based on the marks obtained in CBT, candidates are called for PET. The PET is qualifying in nature. Those who qualify the PET are called for document verification. Final empanellment of candidates is done based on the performance in CBT subject to their qualifying the document verification and medical exam. The structure of RRB Group D exam pattern is given below.

Q:   What is RRB Group D selection process?

A:
RRB Group D selection process comprises CBT, PET/PST, document verification and medical exam. The transgender candidates are given relaxation in the PET. CCAAs trained in railway establishment are given due weightage of marks obtained in their NCVT exam in preparation of final merit list after the conduct of CBT. Based on the performance of candidates in CBT subject to their qualifying in PER, candidates are called for document verification as per their merit and options. In case of two or more candidates secure same marks, their merit position is determined by age criteria i.e., older person is placed at higher merit and in case age is same, then alphabetical order (A to Z) of the name is taken into account to break the tie. Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and community certificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates. All candidates clearing the DV are called for medical exam. RRBs/RRCs only recommend names of the empanelled candidates and appointment is offered only by the respective Railway Administrations.

Q:   In how many language questions are asked in the RRB Group D exam?

The question paper of RRB Group D will be available in 15 languages besides English and Hindi. The question paper is framed in languages such as Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipur, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu. RRB Group D Phase 5 Exam Analysis 2022

The difficulty level of RRB Group D Phase 5 exam was easy to moderate. The General Awareness section was moderate, General Science section was moderate, Maths section was moderate, General Intelligence and Reasoning section was moderate.

RRB Group D Phase 4 Exam Analysis 2022

RRB Group D Phase 4 exam was conducted from September 19 to October 7 for RRCs-Central Railway (Mumbai), Eastern Railway (Kolkata) and North Eastern Railway (Gorakhpur). The General Awareness questions were tough. The questions were asked from the last year's current affairs in some sets. In some sets, there were no questions from the current affairs of 2022. There were few questions from Chemistry. Questions in Physics were asked from Electricity, Lense, Light, etc. In Maths, questions were asked from SI, CI, proportion, Simplification, etc. The questions in Maths were easy. The overall difficulty level of the Reasoning section was moderate. In Reasoning, questions were asked from Coding Decoding, Seating Arrangement, Order, etc.

RRB Group D Phase 3 Exam Analysis 2022

RRB Group D Phase 3 exam was moderate to difficult in terms of difficulty level. Questions in RRB Group D Phase 3 were asked from the Articles of the Constitution in polity. In Reasoning, questions were asked from Seating Arrangement (Circular and Linear Seating Arrangement), Coding-Decoding. In Maths, questions were asked from Simple Interest, Profit and Loss, Work and Time, Speed. In General Science, questions were asked from Volume of Cylinder, Chemical Reactions, and Electric Current. There were fewer questions from Biology in General Science.

 In GK, questions were asked from the winner of IPL 2022, Finance Commission, Most Polluted River in India, Ozone Layer, etc. In Physics, there was one question what will an astronaut see from space?

The Phase 2 exam was easy to moderate in terms of difficulty level. Few questions in Reasoning and Maths were tricky. Seven questions were asked from Darpan. The overall analysis of Phase 2 paper is given below.

RRBs conducted the RRB Group D Phase 1 CBT from August 17 to 25. The overall difficulty level of the paper was moderate. The General Science and General Awareness and Current Affairs sections were moderate to difficult. The difficulty level of Mathematics and General Intelligence and Reasoning sections were moderate. The Chemistry portion of General Science was difficult. In Biology, one question was asked from the Photosynthesis reaction. Questions in Maths were asked from Profit and Loss, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Bar Graph, Average, Trigonmetry, Height and Distance.
