SSC CPO Selection Process
The stages of SSC CPO recruitment process are explained below:
Paper 1: This paper is conducted for all registered candidates. On the basis of their performance in Paper-I, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in PET/ PST Examination. The commission will fix qualifying marks in Paper 1 to select candidates for the next round of the selection process.Â
PET/PST: PET/ PST is mandatory but qualifying in nature. Ex-Servicemen are not required to undergo PET.
Paper 2: Only those candidates who qualify PET/ PST are allowed to appear in the Paper 2 exam.Â
Medical Exam and Document Verification: On the basis of candidates' performance in Paper 1 and Paper 2, they will be shortlisted for appearing in medical examination. Candidates, who are successful in medical examination, will be called for detailed Document Verification.Â
Final Selection: Final selection and allocation will be made on the basis of the performance of candidates in Paper 1 and Paper 2 and the preferences of posts/force given by them at the time of document verification.

Q: Â What is the training period for SSC CPO?
The training syllabi for induction courses are confined to training institutions. The duration of training is usually of six to nine months. Indoor training involves imparting knowledge on various subjects under the law, police science, police rules, practical work, criminology, cybercrime and terrorism, human behavior, etc. The outdoor module trains the officers in several fields- physical exercise and drills, vehicle driving, handling of arms and weapons, and practice firing. Special emphasis is given to fitness and unarmed combat. Candidates selected through SSC CPO exam are appointed to the post of Sub Inspector with either the Delhi Police, the CAPF or as Assistant Sub Inspector in CISF. The CAPF is a Paramilitary force also known as the Central Armed Police Forces. It is not directly a wing of the Military and it comes under the Home Ministry.
