SSC CPO Vacancy 2024: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released SSC CPO vacancies along with the notification. SSC CPO 2024 recruitment is being conducted for a total of 4,187 vacancies. The vacancies announced for Sub-Inspector (Exe.) in Delhi Police-Male were 125, 61 for Sub-Inspector (Exe.) in Delhi Police-Female and 4001 for Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs. The highest number of vacancies were announced for Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs. The selection process of SSC CPO comprises Paper 1, Physical Standard Test (PST)/ Physical Endurance Test (PET), Paper 2, and Detailed Medical Examination (DME). SSC CPO vacancies are announced separately for different posts and categories. Selected candidates are liable to be posted anywhere in India. 

SSC CPO salary for SI (GD) in CAPF is between INR 35,400 to 1,12,400. The salary for Sub Inspector (Executive) -(Male/ Female) in Delhi Police is INR 35,400 to 1,12,400. The salary for Assistant Sub-Inspector (Executive) in CISF is INR 29,200 to 92,300. SSC CPO exam is conducted to select candidates for the post of Sub-Inspector (SI) in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).

SI in Delhi Police is the most selected post in SSC CPO because of the promotion and social status it provides. The grade pay of Delhi Police SI is INR 4300. It also contains other allowances as per DA, HRA, TA, etc. The gross in-hand salary is INR 35400 to INR 1,12,400.

Sub Inspector in Border Security Force (BSF)

The grade pay of SI in BSF is INR 4200. In-hand salary ranges between INR 35400 to INR 112400.

Sub Inspector in Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB)

The job profile of SSB is border guarding and armed defense to Intelligence Bureau and other topmost authorities in India. Grade pay is INR 4200. Inhand salary ranges from INR 35400 to INR 112400. The promotion opportunities are similar to that of BSF.

Sub Inspector in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)

The job profile of CISF personnel contains guarding our PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings). The grade pay of CISF personnel ranges between INR 2400 to INR 4200. On Adding all other bonuses and allowances the in-hand salary ranges between INR 20,200 to INR 34,800 regarding the rankings.

Sub Inspector in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)

They are determined to maintain law and order in the country. The grade pay is INR 4200 and after adding all other allowances, the in-hand salary ranges between INR 20,200 to INR 80,000.

Sub Inspector in Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)

Their duty contains maintaining security along with India- the Tibet border and stopping illegal immigration from Tibet. The grade pay is INR 2000 and after adding all other allowances, the in-hand salary ranges between INR 6,460 to INR 80,000.

Assistant Sub Inspector in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)

Grade Pay of INR 2800. With all other allowances and perks, the in-hand salary would be INR 5200 to INR 20,200

CPO is a Central Police Organization. The exam is held by the Staff Services Commission. Staff Selection Commission (SSC) was established in 1975, it is  mandated to select staff for various Group B and Group C posts that come under various ministries in the Government of India. SSC CPO is a national-level exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission. The full form of SSC CPO is Staff Selection Commission Central Police Organization. The recruitment is done for the post of Sub Inspector and Assistant Sub Inspector.

Q:   What is SSC CPO selection process?

A:

SSC CPO selection process comprises Paper 1, PET/PST, Paper 2, medical exam and document verification and final selection. On the basis of their performance in Paper-I, candidates are shortlisted for appearing in PET/ PST Examination. PET/ PST is mandatory but qualifying in nature. Ex-Servicemen are not required to undergo PET. Only those candidates who qualify PET/ PST are allowed to appear in the Paper 2 exam. On the basis of candidates' performance in Paper 1 and Paper 2, they are shortlisted for appearing in medical examination. Candidates, who are successful in medical examination, are called for detailed Document Verification. Final selection and allocation is made on the basis of the performance of candidates in Paper 1 and Paper 2 and the preferences of posts/force given by them at the time of document verification.

SSC CPO Selection Process

The stages of SSC CPO recruitment process are explained below:

Paper 1: This paper is conducted for all registered candidates. On the basis of their performance in Paper-I, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in PET/ PST Examination. The commission will fix qualifying marks in Paper 1 to select candidates for the next round of the selection process. 

PET/PST: PET/ PST is mandatory but qualifying in nature. Ex-Servicemen are not required to undergo PET.

Paper 2: Only those candidates who qualify PET/ PST are allowed to appear in the Paper 2 exam. 

Medical Exam and Document Verification: On the basis of candidates' performance in Paper 1 and Paper 2, they will be shortlisted for appearing in medical examination. Candidates, who are successful in medical examination, will be called for detailed Document Verification. 

Final Selection: Final selection and allocation will be made on the basis of the performance of candidates in Paper 1 and Paper 2 and the preferences of posts/force given by them at the time of document verification.

Q:   What is the training period for SSC CPO?

A:

The training syllabi for induction courses are confined to training institutions. The duration of training is usually of six to nine months. Indoor training involves imparting knowledge on various subjects under the law, police science, police rules, practical work, criminology, cybercrime and terrorism, human behavior, etc. The outdoor module trains the officers in several fields- physical exercise and drills, vehicle driving, handling of arms and weapons, and practice firing. Special emphasis is given to fitness and unarmed combat. Candidates selected through SSC CPO exam are appointed to the post of Sub Inspector with either the Delhi Police, the CAPF or as Assistant Sub Inspector in CISF. The CAPF is a Paramilitary force also known as the Central Armed Police Forces. It is not directly a wing of the Military and it comes under the Home Ministry.

The CAPF includes the following forces:

  • BSF (Border Security Force)
  • Protecting the border between India & Pakistan
  • Promoting the sense of security in the citizens of India
  • Prevent crimes across the border and illegal refugees
  • CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force)
  • Responsible for controlling riots & Naxalites.
  • ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police)
  • Protecting the border between India & China (from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh)
  • Providing security at northern borders that are close to Pakistan and China
  • Preventing the violation of border
  • Preventing smuggling, anti-national activities and illegal immigration across the border.

Central Reserve Police Force
