The candidates are required to score marks equal to or more than their category cutoff to get selected for the exam. There are no such passing marks which can ensure selection. SSC MTS exam is a competitive exam and the candidates can be selected even when they score low marks if the overall cutoff is decreased.

For each wrong response, the candidate loses 0.25 numbers of marks in the SSC MTS exam pattern. The exam follows a negative marking system only in Session II of the CBT that is Computer-Based Test covering areas of General Awareness and Reasoning Ability.
