IIT Kharagpur offers a joint MTech/ MCP PhD programme to students who have completed their UG degree in the relevant stream. Under this programme, at the end of the first year, interested students with a CGPA of 8.0 and above are eligible to appear for a written test and/or interview to check their suitability to enrol for PhD. Those who do not qualify for PhD can continue with their two-year MTech/MCP programme. Students selected for PhD will have to complete the two-year academic requirements of MTech/ MCP programme before enrolment for PhD. For these students, the MTech/MCP and PhD degrees will be awarded together upon successful completion of PhD. The answer is both yes and no. It is possible to get admission in any IIT without JEE, but in other courses than BTech. A student can enter into IITs via IIT JAM (Joint Admission Test) for MSc, GATE for MTech, via UCEED and CEED for BDes and MDes and via CAT for MBA. The total fee of BSc at IIT Kharagpur ranges between INR 8 and INR 10 Lacs for Integrated MSc programmes. This fee, however, is sourced from unofficial sources. Hence, is indicative. Yes, IIT Kharagpur does accept GATE scores for admission to its M.Tech programme. Applicants must have a valid GATE score relevant to the discipline of their qualifying degree. In cases where there is no specific GATE paper available for a particular discipline, XE/XL/XH papers of the GATE examination can be considered. GATE is the accepted entrance exam for admission to IIT Kharagpur's M.Tech programme.

Note that the IIT graduates having CGPA of 8.0 or above will be eligible for direct admission at IIT Kharagpur without a GATE score 2023. The institute has scrapped the written tests/interviews of shortlisted candidates. The admissions will be conducted on the basis of the GATE 2023 score only.

Master in Medical Science and Technology (MMST/ MMRT) is a three-year course offered by the School of Medical Science and Technology, IIT Kharagpur. The selection for the MMST is based on a computer-based test conducted by the institute. The cut off rank in Round 6 for BTech (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering is 3294 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota.
