Manipal Academy of Higher Education started its operations in 1953 and established the first self-financing medical college as a public-private collaboration model.
Over the years several colleges have been formed and in June 1993, the government finally declared the group of institutions as a Deemed to be University by the Govt. of India.

Manipal University's Department of Manipal Institute of Technology offers a four-year BTech course. Those who are seeking admission to BTech course are required to fulfil the basic eligibility criteria as per the course requirements.
