Calicut University, apart from offering various regular UG, PG and doctoral-level courses, offers a wide range of UG and PG programmes via distance education mode. Calicut University School of Distance Education application form can be downloaded from the official website of the University (www.universityofcalicut.info). The prospectus and details of fee can be obtained from the notification available on the website.

The School of Distance Education under Calicut University is one of the major departments established in 1981. A major education provider in Kerala, it has an annual enrolment of about 50,000 students.

Calicut University Distance Admission 2022: UG Courses

At UG level, Calicut University offers three-year BA, BCom, BBA and BSc programmes to the students via distance education. A candidate is required to meet the following eligibility to seek admission to distance UG courses at Calicut University:

A pass in Class 12 with Mathematics

Calicut University Distance Admission 2022: PG Courses

At the PG level, Calicut University School of Distance Education offers MA programme across 10 specialisations along with a few other courses. Admission to these courses is completely based on merit scores obtained by the students in Class 12. For reserved category students, a concession of 5% is given to OBC/OEC candidates and the SC/ST candidates only need to have a passing certificate to pursue these courses.

A pass in BA English Language & Literature (Main) / BA English & History / BA Functional English with at least 45% aggregate for English Main papers 

Hindi

A pass in BA Hindi Language & Literature / Functional Hindi / Hindi & History with at least 45% aggregate (50% aggregate if grade system)

History

Any UG degree with at least 45% aggregate (50% aggregate if grade system)

Malayalam

A pass in BA Malayalam Language & Literature (Main) degree with at least 45% aggregate (50% aggregate if grade system)

Political Science

BA in Political Science (Main), or any other degree with at least one main paper (BA Public Administration, BA West Asian Studies) or complementary/subsidiary paper in Political Science with 45% aggregate (50% aggregate if grade system)

Philosophy

Any UG degree with at least 45% aggregate (50% aggregate if grade system)

Sanskrit

BA Sanskrit (Main) with at least 50% aggregate

Sociology

Any UG degree with at least 45% aggregate (50% aggregate if grade system)

In addition to MA, the School of Distance Education under Calicut University offers a few other two-year PG courses via open mode of education, i.e. MCom and MSc in Mathematics. Admission to both these courses is merit-based. Also, a concession of 5% is given to OBC/OEC candidates and the SC/ST candidates only need to pass.

Calicut University Distance Application Process 2022

For admission to UG courses at Calicut University School of Distance Education, application form can be downloaded from the official website of the University, i.e. www.universityofcalicut.info. To access the online application, candidates are required to visit the home page of the website and click on the related link. Once the application form is filled, it needs to reach 'Director, School of Distance Education' within the prescribed date.

List of documents required for admission to UG courses at Calicut University SDE

The application form should be accompanied with the following documents:

  • Mark sheet of Class 12
  • Transfer certificate (original)
  • Challan receipt towards tuition fee, admission fee (original)
  • Challan receipt of matriculation fee of Rs 65 and Rs 15 towards cost of application form
  • Original community certificate (for those who seek relaxation in minimum marks under OBC/OEC category)
  • Original community certificate, nativity certificate, income certificate and two self-attested copies of the each (for fee concession in the case of SC/ST or OEC candidates within Kerala state)

Candidates seeking admission to Calicut University School of Distance Education for PG programmes must complete their registrations online within the prescribed date mentioned in the admission notifications, along with the following documents (in original). There is no restriction on the number of seats for admission.

  • Transfer certificate
  • Degree certificate or Provisional certificate of the qualifying exam
  • Score card of qualifying examinations
  • Original challan receipt (DD in case candidates are from outside Kerala)
  • Self-addressed stamped envelopes - 3
  • Community, nativity and income certificates in original (in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OEC/ OBC who are eligible for marks relaxation/fee concession)
  • Self-attested copy of Class 10 passing certificate for the date of birth proof
  • Certificate from the employer (to avail relaxation in minimum marks in the case of teachers, Govt. employees, university employees etc.)
