The Humanities and Social Science Entrance Exam (HSEE) is set to be conducted on September 9, 2020, as scheduled. Through HSEE, students can get admission to five-year integrated MA programmes offered at IIT Madras. The entrance exam will be conducted in online mode i.e. Computer Based Test (CBT). Earlier, for the long answer questions, students had to write their answers on pen and paper, however, in order to maintain less contact, the students can now attempt Part II of the section on the computer itself.
The HSEE 2020 exam was to be conducted in the month of May, however, due to the impact of the global pandemic known as COVID-19 (Coronavirus), entrance exams all over India were postponed. Students have had ample time to study for HSEE 2020, however, it all comes down to September 9, 2020, when students appear for the national-level entrance exam. Last-Minute Prep Tips and Guide
The main day has finally approached and students who have applied have been impatiently waiting to appear for the entrance exam. However, it is not just about giving the paper, but also being precautious and secure at every point of time. Your health should come first. Carry clean masks, bring your own hand sanitizers and dress appropriately. The HSEE admit card will have all the details which students need to follow strictly. Here are a few prep tips and guides which you can follow before appearing for the entrance exam.
Do Not Panic
The first point is not to stress out. Do not panic. You have to maintain your calm and composure. This is the day which students have been waiting for so long. There is no need to study thoroughly once again as that is going to make you all the more anxious. On the day of the entrance exam, maintain your distance from others, to be precise, maintain at least six feet distance from others around you.
Revise
Go through what you have studied once again. It always better to make pointers so that you can remember the content easily. There is no need of going through the entire syllabus once again at the last minute as it will lead to forgetting other study material which you have earlier studied.
Solve Sample Papers and Previous Years’ Question Paper
Challenge yourself by attempting to complete the question paper according to the duration of the entrance exam. You are in a way, training yourself on how to utilize time and make the best of the time you have on you. Through this way, you will know in the sections where you lag behind, what your strengths and weaknesses are and which sections you have difficulty in attempting. Through the previous years’ question papers, you will also get an idea of the weightage of marks, what type of questions that can be asked, the distribution of marks, the chapters which are given more importance.
Get Proper Rest
The day before the entrance exam, do not tire yourself out and deprive yourself of sleep. You need a fresh and energized mind before you go to give the entrance exam. Revise what you have to a day before and get a proper 7 to 8 hour sleep. You will feel way better and refreshed.
Exam Day Instructions
The student has to take safety measures on the main day of the entrance exam. Remember the following pointers which are as follows:
- Carry your HSEE admit card and your government authorized IDs.
- Carry your own water bottle and hand sanitizers. However, the bottles should be transparent.
- Dress appropriately.
- Reach one hour before the scheduled time. The candidate should be at the exam centre by 8:15 AM latest.
- Do not be late as the gates will close at 8:30 AM sharp. Thereafter candidates will not be allowed to appear for the entrance exam.
- Maintain social distancing at all times.
- Do not carry any electronics such as your smartphones, smartwatches or anything which can lead to disqualification.
- Be careful at all times and be vigilant.
