NIMCET 2025 exam pattern will be released online at nimcet.admissions.nic.in. Q:   In which year should I start preparing for NIMCET?

A:

Generally, a candidate should start preparing at least six months before the exam date. The NIMCET 2025 exam date has not been announced yet. The authorities will release the NIMCET exam pattern along with the brochure on the official website at nimcet.admissions.nic.in. With the help of an exam pattern, candidates will be able to check the details on which the NIMCET paper is structured, as well as the marking scheme.

  • Every correct answer will be awarded 12 marks
  • For every wrong answer, 3 marks will be deducted

Part II - Analytical Ability & Reasoning

  • For every correct answer, 6 marks will be awarded
  • For every wrong answer, 1.5 marks will be deducted

Part III - Computer Awareness

  • Every correct answer will be given 6 marks
  • For every wrong answer, 1.5 marks will be deducted

Part III - General English

  • For every correct answer, 4 marks will be awarded
  • For every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted

Q:   Which subjects are compulsory in NIMCET?

A:

According to the NICMET exam pattern, the examination paper will consist of topics from Mathematics, Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness and General English. All of these subjects have to be prepared for the examination. The official syllabus of NIMCET is released online.

Q:   Is there any negative marking for wrong answers in NIMCET?

A:

As per the information brochure of NIMCET, each correctly answered question will give full marks, while each incorrectly answered question will result in deduction. For Mathematics, 12 marks will be awarded for the correct answer, and 3 marks will be deducted for the wrong answer. For Computer Awareness, Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning, 6 marks will be awarded for the correct answer, and 1.5 marks will be deducted for the wrong answer. For General English, 4 marks are awarded for the correct answer, and 1 mark is deducted for the incorrect answer. Candidates are advised against attempting questions if they are unsure of the correct answer. However, no deduction will be made if a question is left unanswered. Selecting multiple answers to a question will result in negative marking.

The total duration of the NIMCET 2025 exam is 2 hours. Every part of the NIMCET 2025 question paper is allotted a timeline that the candidates will have to follow.

  • Part I - Mathematics - 70 minutes
  • Part II - Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning - 30 minutes
    Part III - Computer Awareness and English - 20 minutes

The candidates will have to select the correct option out of the total given options. It is to be noted that if more than one answer is indicated, then the question will be negatively marked.

Q:   What if a candidate marked more than one answer to the NIMCET question?

A:

As per the exam pattern of the NIMCET, for every correctly answered question, full marks will be awarded, and each wrongly answered question will lead to a 25% negative mark. Also, if a candidate marked more than one answer against a question, then it will be negatively marked.

NIMCET 2025 Exam Pattern - Important Points

  • The authorities will conduct the NIMCET 2025 exam online i.e., as a computer-based test.
  • For every question, four options will be given. The correct option has to be selected and submitted.
  • All sections should be completed within the allotted time.
  • Candidates can use the test booklet for rough work and calculations. No other paper will be allowed for rough work.
  • Since there is a negative marking, the candidates are advised to not attempt questions that they are unsure about. 
  • Multiple answers for one question will lead to negative marking.

Q:   Will there be any break between the NIMCET exam duration?

A:

No, there will not be any break during the NIMCET exam. The NIMCET exam will be conducted with single paper containing 120 multiple-choice questions, and the questions will be asked in English language only. The three parts of the CBT will appear to the candidate one after the other. Time assigned for each part is fixed. Candidate should complete each part in allotted time only as movement to one section from other is not permitted.

A:

No, it is not mandatory to attempt all the questions of the NIMCET entrance examination. The NIMCET exam pattern describes the structure of the question paper. Candidates will come to know about the types of questions asked, the difficulty level, the marking scheme, etc. The question paper will consist of a total of 120 multiple-choice questions.

Q:   Is calculator allowed in NIMCET exam?

A:

No, calculator or any other electronic equipment such as mobile phones, pagers, etc. will not be allowed to carry to the NIMCET exam centre. Candidates need to report at the examination hall in the allotted test center with admit card before one hour as NIMCET is an online examination, the candidates are required to follow the instructions given at the test center for entry and allotment of terminal.

Q:   Will there be papers or sheets provided to do rough work or calculations for NIMCET?

A:

Yes, papers will be provided to the NIMCET candidates for doing rough work or calculations. Candidates have to submit the same at the end of the exam to the invigilators. The authorities released the NIMCET exam pattern along with the brochure on the official website. With the help of the exam pattern, candidates will be able to check details on the pattern in which the NIMCET paper is structured and also the marking scheme. It is advised for the candidates to check the exam pattern and strategize accordingly for the preparation of the NIMCET exam.

Q:   Will there be any partial marking in NIMCET on the basis of the steps taken to derive the answer, even if the final answer is wrong?

A:

No, there is no step marking in NIMCET. Each correctly answered question will be awarded full marks and each wrongly answered question will lead to 25% negative mark. The candidates are advised not to attempt such questions if they are not sure of the correct answer. No deduction from the total score will, however, be made if a question is unanswered. More than one answer indicated against a question will be negatively marked. The candidates have to mark the responses as per the instructions appearing in the screen of NIMCET online examination.
