The entrance exam accepted for admission to the BA LLB and LLM courses at the NLU Delhi is AILET. No other entrance exam is accepted for the admission to the institute. Candidates appearing in any other Law entrance exam such as CLAT, MHCET Law, SLAT, will have to appear for the AILET to increase their scope of admission to NLU Delhi.

AILET exam is conducted for admission to the 5-year integrated courses and LLM courses offered at the National Law University Delhi. Aspiring candidates will have to register for the entrance exam before the last date to sit for the exam. AILET (All India Law Entrance Test) is a national-level law entrance exam, conducted for admission to the law courses- UG (BA LLB) and PG (LLM). The exam is held once a year in online mode.

The National Law University Delhi has released the AILET admit card on November 26, 2025. The admit card can be downloaded from the official website using application number and password. It must be noted that only those candidates who are eligible and have submitted the AILET Application Form on time will be issued the AILET Admit card. Candidates must note that NLU Delhi will issue the AILET Admit card online and will not send it to anyone through speed post.

The AILET admit card will mention the examination hall number, the name of the candidate, course name applied for, and general guidelines. Candidates must ensure to have the error free details in the hall ticket. Do not forget to carry an identity proof for verification purpose.

To crack the AILET exam, candidates must target to achieve rank between 50-60, which means score above 75 will help you land at the NLU Delhi. Candidates must go through the AILET exam pattern, syllabus, and previous year questions to prepare for the exam effectively. The previous year questions will help candidates to get an idea about the kind of questions asked in the exam.

Candidates must note that the AILET Exam 2026 has negative marking too. The criteria for negative marking will be based on the formula 0.25*4=1 that means per wrong answer 0.25 Marks will be deducted. Therefore, four wrong answers will lead to deduction of 1 Mark. Candidates must be very careful while attempting the questions paper of AILET 2026. Candidates are advised to solve mock tests and previous years' question papers to get hand on things. The AILET admission process after the results are declared is as mentioned below: 

• AILET counselling: The number of candidates invited for counseling will be FIVE times the number of seats available in each category. The consortium will upload the list of eligible candidates on its website before the start of counseling registration.
• AILET cutoff: The NLU Delhi will release the AILET cutoff on its official website at the time of seat allotment. The cutoff is the minimum marks/rank that aspirants need to secure in order to get admission to a 5-year LLB or one-year LLB program.

The result for the AILET 2026 exam will be released soon after the exam. Candidates can check their scorecards using their login details created during the registration. 

AILET Scorecard 2025 will carry details like the marks, merit rank, and qualifying marks for AILET 2025. NLU Delhi also published the list of AILET 2024 qualified candidates. Candidates included in the list will be eligible to participate in the AILET 2025 counseling process. It must be noted that the counseling process is being conducted in online mode soon after the declaration of the results.

No, AILET Entrance Exam cutoff is released separately for the various categories. For instance, the cut-off is available for categories like Open, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PH categories. Note that open category candidates will not be considered for admission under reserved category seats. However, candidates belonging to reserved category will be considered for admission under both open and the reserved category they belong to. To be considered for admission under reserved category, the candidate must furnish the required category certificates. However, any candidate who is found using counterfeit documents can be disqualified at any stage of the admission process.

• It included the application number, roll number, total marks, and All India Ranks of candidates shortlisted for counselling.
• It also included the seat matrix and reservation for AILET admission process.

The AILET counselling fee of INR 30,000 (INR for reserved category candidates) will be refunded only to candidates who have successfully registered for the counselling and paid the fee but who could not find a place in the merit list. The refund will be initiated by NLU Delhi to the source on completion of the admission process, whichever is earlier.

The seat allotment process in AILET counselling is done based on the candidate's rank and scores. Once the results are declared, Candidates are issued the merit list through the official website and then they are required to make the fee payment before the deadline. Even though NLU Delhi is a National Law University but it is not a part of the Consortium of NLUs. All the NLUs in India have been granted the status by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Thus, there is no major difference in the courses offered at NLU Delhi as compared to the other National Law Universities. However, the NLU Delhi offers admission to is BA LLB and LLM program through the AILET entrance exam.
