A resident of Gorakhpur, Satyendra Kumar Tiwari has bagged AIR 6 in CLAT 2017 PG exam with a score of 119 out of 150 marks. According to him, his concept-based in-depth knowledge of subjects helped him crack the prestigious law entrance exam. On being asked if he expected to be the topper of CLAT 2017, he shared, “Yes, I expected to be the topper because I was confident of my efforts with this exam.”
Satyendra’s father, Dhanushdhari Tiwari was a railway employee who retired last year. His mother is a homemaker. Satyendra loves playing Badminton as a sport. However, his hobbies also include writing blogs and sharing his nationalist thoughts as well as poems with others.

For Satyendra, law was always his first career preference. Talking about the same, he said, “I think society can be reformed by a better legal system only and I want to contribute in its reform.” In the past Satyendra has appeared for competitive law exams such as Provincial Civil Service-Judicial (PCSJ), Assistant Prosecution Officer (APO), and IBPS Specialist officer.
A third year LLB student, Satyendra appeared for CLAT exam for the first time. He shared, “I never took CLAT UG exam. Also, I gave CLAT PG for the first time. But I think based on knowledge of candidates at Class 12 level, CLAT UG would be tougher than CLAT PG.”
An extremely sincere and dedicated student, Satyendra did not take any coaching for the law entrance exam. He cleared the exam on the basis of self-study that he did with the guidance of his seniors. When we asked Satyendra how he dealt with his strengths and weaknesses he shared that his persistent efforts helped him achieve his goal.
Talking about his preparation strategy for CLAT exam, Satyendra revealed, “Deep analysis of books and bare texts, solving as much MCQs as possible, keeping a positive approach and being patient towards result, and target-based daily study are some of my success mantras.” He further shared that, “I generally referred books like Ascent’S Law Guide for LLM Entrance, Singhal’s SS Handbook for LLM Entrance Exam, and LexisNexis Guide for LLM. Besides, I also went through previous years’ LLM questions papers of different universities to prepare for the exam.”
According to Satyendra, competition to clear CLAT is getting tougher with every passing day. Therefore, he advises current CLAT aspirants that, “If you want to top this exam you are required to do SWOT analysis, be focused, be calm, stay cool, set your targets on daily basis, be confident but not overconfident, and avoid silly mistakes by doing exercises regularly.”
Finally, on being asked about his future plans, Satyendra expressed his will to work in a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) and said that he is currently preparing for interviews for the same.
