My journey from a small town to FBB Colours Femina Miss India 2019 stage: Simran Gandhi
I have always dreamt of bigger things. I pursued my secondary education from my hometown itself and for higher education, I opted MM(DU), Mullana.
I came to know that Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University) is the best place to give wings to your dreams. Frankly speaking, earlier I was not sure, but now I can brag about being a part of the university.
Because of my good height, I always wanted to opt for modeling but my parents gave preference to studies. Thus, I always focused on my studies but also dreamt to be a part of a beauty pageant at least once in a lifetime.
Being a part of MM(DU) campus, every year I participated in several competitions. In the third year of my law degree, my faculty members and friends inspired and encouraged me to compete for the title of campus princess and at least try my luck. I was nervous and wasn't confident but my teachers and parents told me that participation is important, winning isn't. Somehow, I failed but that failure was a lesson to me. I got the confidence to overcome my fear. It's a saying that opportunity doesn't knock twice but for me it did.
I came to know about FBB – India’s Fashion Hub Colours TV Femina Miss India 2019 Haryana auditions. My university completely supported me with my lectures so that I could prepare for the competition. I started getting up early to work out and prepared for the competition and then later attended my classes. When my mates used to hang around after classes, I opted to again work out and then studying my course at night.
After registration, my parents weren't sure whether I would go ahead in the competition or not. I just wanted to participate and had no plans that I could go that further. After every round, I became confident and always kept that sportsmen spirit with me.
As a law student, there is a need for studying every day. You cannot cover the whole syllabus in a night or two. Many students thought that I had gone crazy as I was spending my whole time either in studies or in the preparation of the beauty pageant.
Finally, I got the title of one of the top 3 finalists at FBB – India’s Fashion Hub Colours TV Femina Miss India 2019 Haryana auditions and it was a dream coming true for me. To achieve this position, I struggled a lot and it wasn’t easy at all. But the never-ending support I received from my university, family, and friends is worth mentioning.
Now I have the far sight vision and I see myself as a contender of Miss India and hope I could make my parents and university proud and could set an example to other girls that nothing is impossible when you carry the spirit to take your dreams to the next level.
