CLAT 2025 Colleges - Being the pre-eminent law entrance exam in the country, the CLAT exam 2025 attracts the highest number of test-takers. But the problem with many students is they aren't aware of the full scope of the CLAT score. For example, it is common knowledge that CLAT scores will be used for admission to 5-year integrated and one-year LLM programs offered by the NLUs. But, many other private, self-financed law colleges also accept CLAT scores. This means if you manage to secure even a decent rank or marks in the CLAT exam, you have a chance of getting admission to one of these colleges even if you miss out on an NLU. The good thing is many of these colleges, especially the affiliate colleges, have some popular names like Amity University, Bennet University, and GGSIU.

Q: What is a good rank for CLAT?
Students who wish to be admitted to this university should strive for a score of roughly 70% (80-84 marks) or above under the revised pattern. Because the CLAT cut-off marks are lower for reserved categories, a rank of about 4000 would be suitable for admission. According to CLAT 2024 analysis, candidates from the general category should aim for a score of 90 or more in order to be admitted to one of the top three NLUs. In CLAT 2024, 60–70 points are considered a decent score for SC/ST categories. The Consortium of NLUs will release the closing rank of candidates for each round at the time of CLAT counselling.
Q: After CLAT, which college is the best?
Among the top NLUs that take CLAT scores into account are NLIU Bhopal, NLSIU Bengaluru, and NALSAR Hyderabad. In addition to NLUs, a large number of privately funded law schools also accept CLAT results for admission. This means if you manage to secure even a decent rank or marks in the CLAT exam, you have a chance of getting admission to one of these colleges. Even among the participating NLUs, there is great diversity as far as seat intake and reservation criteria are concerned. Only recently, RGNUL has updated its seat matrix and introduced the EWS category for UG and PG. Further, a New category – Backward Category of Punjab has been added for UG.
Q: Which is the No. 1 university in CLAT?
Since 2018, the National Law School of India University in Bengaluru has maintained its position as the top-ranked law college in India according to the NIRF rankings.
CLAT 2025: Law Schools Accepting CLAT Scores
Three types of law schools will accept CLAT 2025 scores to provide admission to their undergraduate and postgraduate courses:
CLAT Colleges 2025 - Participating NLUs
There are a total of 25 NLUs that are participating institutes of CLAT 2025.
- 5-year LLB - The integrated law program is offered by all the 25 NLUs, with the seat intake standing at 3,213 seats.
- One-year LLM - The program is offered by 21 NLUs, which have a combined intake of 1,217 seats.
Affiliate Colleges of CLAT 2025
These colleges have signed MOUs with the consortium and use CLAT 2025 scores for admission purposes. However, unlike the NLUs, affiliate colleges may also offer admission based on other entrance exams. For instance, while GITAM University uses CLAT scores, it also conducts its own entrance exam, the GITAM GAT. In all, there are 61 affilates that are listed on the consortium website.
Other Private law colleges
Unlike the affiliate colleges which have signed an MOU, some colleges that haven't signed any MOU may still use CLAT 2025 scores for admission purposes. The colleges that fall in this category may fluctuate the most in terms of their academic abilities as we move from one college to the next. So, you need to do robust R&D before you get admission into any of them.
Q: Is 4000 a good rank in CLAT?
A CLAT rank of 4000 is not considered as a good rank to get admission to one of the top NLUs. However, candidates who belong the reserved category still have chance to secure admission to NLUs with a CLAT Rank of AIR 4000.With the exam pattern for CLAT changing, candidates must aim to score above 100 to secure admission to one of the best NLUs in the country. Before starting the CLAT Preparation 2025 candidates need to understand how the marks are divided in each section.
Q: Is 95 a good score in CLAT?
Aspirants who are preparing for the CLAT Exam should have a clear idea about a good CLAT score. CLAT is a very competitive exam and candidates need to score high to clear the cutoff. All those candidates who are appearing for the CLAT are advised to check out the previous year's CLAT cutoff scores and get a fair idea of the trends that are being followed by the NLUs in the country. A score above 100 is definitely considered as a good score for CLAT Exam. Candidates must note that the expected CLAT cutoff score for NLUSIU Bangalore is 100 plus, whereas, for NLU Kolkata, NLU Jodhpur and NLU Bhopal, the expected score is between 94 to 98. Candidates who wish to take admission into NALSAR Hyderabad they need to score between 98 to 100.
CLAT Seat Intake 2025 - List of NLUs
As per the latest revisions, the NLUs accepting CLAT scores have seat intake as under:
Note: Sikkim National Law University, Gangtok (w.e.f. 2022) is also reported to be a participating institute for CLAT 2023. However, no official confirmation is published on the consortium website yet.

Q: How many universities/colleges accept CLAT score?
Around the country, there are 60 public and private colleges, 22 NLUs, and 60 CLAT universities that accept CLAT results. The Consortium of NLUs and these CLAT Colleges have an agreement in place that allows the applicants to be accepted based just on their rank. Candidates who are looking forward to taking admission through CUET must note that in all the subjects, candidates will be evaluated on their reading skills, critical thinking and analytical ability. Further, check the detailed CLAT 2025 syllabus for all the sections of the exam as released by the Consortium.
Q: What is the validity of CLAT Score?
No, the CLAT score is valid for 1 year only as previous year scores will not be considered to get admission in upcoming years. The CLAT paper duration is only 2 hours and 120 questions are answered in this time. The syllabus of this course is Legal Reasoning legal general knowledge, English comprehensive, mathematics and Current Affairs. It is valid until the admission procedure of all the institutions accepting CLAT score is closed and expires at the occurrence of the next CLAT exam.

No domicile certificate is required to be produced while filling up the application form for CLAT. It is mandatory only while counseling if you are opting for the domicile based reservations by producing certificates. It is normal for most NLUs to reserve 10%-50% of the number of seats for the state
