The college has helped me grow as a professional: Naresh Suresh Pawar

After the completion of 10th standard, I was not sure about where to go. At that time, lots of things were going on in my mind, I had various options for my career like a diploma, 11th in arts, commerce, science, etc. I always had an inclination towards Maths and I also wanted to try my luck for MBBS, so I decided to go for science and opted both the subjects, Mathematics and Biology. After 12th I got good marks in both subjects but as my inclination was more towards mathematics so I decided to pursue engineering.

After the completion of undergraduation, I joined a company and worked for almost one and half year. While I was working, I started trading in the equity market and developed an interest. I wanted to develop my personality and skills and I realised that MBA would be the best platform. Finance is a booming sector and has lots of opportunities, hence I went for that sector.

I chose Sydenham Institute of Management Studies Research and Entrepreneurship Education because it is the  2nd best college in Maharashtra through CET and in India, it comes under top 30 B-schools. Following things attracted me to take admission in this college: government college, high ROI, all facilities, located in the financial capital of India, knowledgeable faculty, etc.

There are lots of entrance examinations for MBA. If you want to take admission in IIM and top B-schools like SP Jain, then you need to appear for the CAT examination. To take admission in Symbiosis, you have to give SNAP. I wanted to take admission in a top B-school in Maharashtra so I focused on CMAT and MAH-CET for MBA. I started to study according to the syllabus of MAH-CET as I wanted to take admission in one of the top 5 colleges like JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research, PUMBA, etc.

I didn’t join any private coaching class for preparation. It totally depends on the person if he/she wants to join the coaching classes or not. I prepared from books and online videos. But I would suggest you join a coaching class because it keeps us on the right path and helps us do quality study. I took mock test packages of ELC and Test Funda. It helped a lot in cracking the examination. MAH-CET is conducted by the Maharashtra government for MBA colleges which are presented in only Maharashtra. The exam has a total of 200 questions of logical reasoning, verbal, quantitative and visual reasoning and you have 150 minutes to solve it. The cut-off for Sydenham was 99.80 percentile. I got my admission on the basis of MAH-CET.

I have always loved college life because it gave me unforgettable and memorable memories. During my undergraduation days, I loved spending time in college with friends. I always find reasons to stay back in college. The college has lots of indoor games and an amazing crowd so you never get bored to spend time in college. The college does not have any fixed schedule of lectures as almost all faculty members are external. Lectures timings can be anything between 7 AM– 9 PM. The faculty members have 10-20 years of industrial experience so they always share their practical live experiences with students. It is always interesting and fun to attend all the class. I love to attend all the classes especially Marketing Management and Finance because the faculties for these subjects are extraordinary. The college regularly organizes guest lectures to help the students gain knowledge and to get industrial exposure. The college has a great alumni base and they also come to guide students.

The college has a student-driven culture so lots of extra-curricular activities are conducted at the college. Students get lots of opportunities to volunteer and groom themselves by managing the events. Workshops for all specializations like marketing, finance, and operation, etc. are organized. The college also organizes sports events like badminton, cricket, volleyball, chess, carom, basketball, pool, etc. Lots of national level competition where from all India students come to show their talent. If I have chance to something else to do then I would love to increase academic rigor, soft skills, personality development of students and to make college number one.

The college has helped me to improve my soft skills and has aided in personality growth. It has given me lots of opportunities to enhance my skills and gives chances to work along with talented students. All these small things have helped me grow as a professional. I have developed a habit of reading and my presentation skills have improved because of the college. I had a very good experience here.
