Unscripted Success: My MBA Journey at RBSMTC

3 mins readUpdated on Oct 15, 2024 11:51 IST

My name is Khushi Gupta and I am from Agra. I completed my MBA in HR and Marketing from Raja Balwant Singh Management Technical Campus (RBSMTC), AKTU University. I am a very curious person, and I love learning new things and solving different problems. My hobbies include socialising with new people and listening to music. My objective is to sharpen my abilities in my field through an internship so that I can achieve professional growth while contributing to the firm.
I am a very adaptable person and always ready to help others. I like to explore new things and learn something at every opportunity. The motto of my life is to be clear, helpful and resourceful in whatever interaction I have.

My Unplanned Journey into MBAs and Internships

My academic journey was not planned. After completing my schooling from Manglick Shiksha Kendra in 2019, I joined Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University (DBRU) for a BCom degree. Choosing an MBA as my postgraduate degree was also not planned. After completing my BCom, I was a little clueless about what to do next. MBA appeared to be a good choice where I could get the overall exposure and it would open up opportunities for me as well. So, without really thinking too much about it, I just went ahead and was admitted to RBSMTC under AKTU University with a dual specialisation in HR and M. Little did I know that this one impulsive decision of mine would bring so much learning into my life.

Discovery my Passion

I had not considered MBA in the first place, but eventually, it turned out to be a fulfilling experience. I did a couple of internships and worked on several projects and gradually, I found myself interested in both HR and Marketing. In the third semester, I did an internship in Marketing with a leading EdTech organisation. The internship was informative in the aspects of management of clients and marketing and it was during this time that I started to understand the role of marketing in the success of a business.

A:

Here's what current students and alumni have to say:

* Infrastructure: While the building is not too big, it has an auditorium, playground, badminton court, library, and computer labs. However, the quality of canteen food is poor, and there is no hostel facility.
* Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified, experienced, and supportive. They offer individual solutions when students face problems with their studies.
* Placements: About 30% of students are placed, with the highest package being INR12 Lacs per annum and the minimum being INR2.5 Lacs per annum. Top recruiting companies include Lenskart, Kotak Mahindra, and HCL.
* Internships: Around 40% of students secure internships, with 20% getting opportunities from the hotel industry and tourism sector.
* Course structure: The curriculum provides a solid foundation in each subject, making students industry-ready. However, some students feel that more practical knowledge would be beneficial.
* Supportive environment: The campus has a positive atmosphere, with various competitions and events held throughout the year.

While the college has its strengths, such as highly qualified faculty and good placements, it lacks in terms of infrastructure (no hostel facility) and canteen services. Additionally, some students may find the course structure too focused on theory.

In conclusion, whether or not the MBA/PGDM programme at Raja Balwant Singh Management Technical Campus is worth the investment depends on individual preferences and goals. For those seeking a supportive learning environment, good placements, and industry connections, the college might be a suitable choice. However, potential students should carefully weigh the pros and cons before making a decision.

At the same time, I worked as an HR recruiter at MindCampus Consultants. This was a good opportunity that enabled me to learn more about recruitment and the relevance of getting the right people in companies. In the next semester, I took on the role of a Sales onsultant at MG Motors, where I also had hands-on experience in customer relationship management and dealing with consumer tendencies. These internships were not scheduled in advance for any particular objective, but every position helped me learn new important skills and created further curiosity towards both the worlds.

The role of friendship and connections in my development

The life on campus of RBSMTC was one of the most fulfilling periods in my life. I made several friends for life, which made my trips filled with fun. Interaction with students as well as tutors belonging to different cultures was a valuable experience that expanded my horizons and contributed to the development of my interpersonal and group working traits.
I recall attending college and busying myself with class assignments, projects, and other participating in sponsored events and activities, which aided my growth. For example, such experiences trained me to balance several things at once and also to become more versatile in different situations. I was shaped by friendships and contacts that I embarked on and the pictures painted in my mind of such relations are very dear to me.

The Next Step: Looking Into the Future

I am looking forward to being a proper market leader and owning the market. I have been lucky to acquire many things, and one of them is the understanding that life is not meant to be lived by a definite regulation. It is not bad once in a while to just go with the waves and hope for the best.
