TANCET 2024 analysis has been released. Candidates found the TANCET 2024 exam for MCA course on an easier side. All the candidates for MBA and MCA have said that the test pattern and syllabus was in line with the previous exam sessions.

Q: What is the difficulty level of TANCET exam?
TANCET exam is considered moderate in terms of difficulty. For MBA exams, the difficulty standards is typically compared with the CAT exam. In comparison with the CAT difficulty level, TANCET is considered easy to crack. This is because the total number of test takers is less if compared to CAT exam, additionally, the difficulty level of the questions asked is easier than the CAT exam.
Q: Is there a set pattern of distribution of questions in the TANCET exam?
Yes, the TANCET MBA question paper will have 20 questions each from five sections i.e. Business Situation Analysis, Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, Data Sufficiency and English Usage. In TANCET MCA exam, there are four sections, therefore with equal weightage each section has 25 questions.
Q: What is considered a good attempt in the TANCET exam?
If a candidate has attempted around 80 out of the 100 questions with 80 to 85 accuracy, that is considered a good attempt. However, the percentile score may vary depending upon the number of test takers and performance of all the candidates in the TANCET exam. Candidates must try to attempt all the questions where they know the answers and incorrect responses will also lead to deduction of marks, which in turn decreases the percentile score.
Q: Is there any defined pattern over the topic-wise distribution of questions in the TANCET exam?
No, there is no definite pattern of the questions from certain topics in the TANCET exam. The candidates are required to cover all TANCET sections and topics under these sections. Anna University can cover any topic to define the questions from the section stipulated in the TANCET syllabus.

Q: Is the syllabus for CAT and TANCET same? Can I prepare for TANCET exam using CAT study material such as mock tests and question papers?
CAT is a national level exam for MBA admission, while TANCET is a state level exam for MBA admission. Syllabus for both CAT and TANCET are on a similar lies with slight changes in the sections. TANCET exam includes an additional section for Business Situation analysis. Candidates who have prepared for CAT exams section, including DILR, VARC, and QA, need a minimal study plan to prepare for TANCET. Candidates who took the CAT exam must drive deeper into the section for analysis of business situations. Study material, including books, question type remains similar for CAT and TANCET exam.
Practising mock tests for CAT and TANCET must be done individual as the difficult standards, exam duration, number of questions and other elements of test pattern will vary. Mock test will provide a better understanding of taking TANCET and CAT exam.
Q: Which section of the TANCET exam has the highest weightage?
The TANCET exam has five sections, namely,

As per the TANCET exam pattern, a total of 100 questions are asked collectively from all sections of the TANCET exam. All five section of TANCET MBA exam have equal weightage. Therefore, candidates have to answer a total of 20 questions, irrespective of the section. Since all sections of the TANCET exam have equal weightage, candidates must take all sections seriously. Each section of TANCET exam holds identical importance.
Q: How many questions will be there in Business Situation Analysis section of the TANCET exam?
Business Situation Analysis and the other four sections of the TANCET MBA question paper will have 20 questions each. The section has two different passages. Candidates have to answer 10 questions after analysing the business situation presented in each passage. These questions have four options, candidates need to choose the correct option and answer the same in the OMR sheet. The marking scheme for these 10 questions remain the same.

Section-wise TANCET 2023 Analysis
In this year’s TANCET exam, Data Sufficiency and Business Situation Analysis sections were difficult while the General English section was relatively easy. Shared below is the section-wise analysis of the TANCET 2023 exam:
Business Situation Analysis
The Business Situation Analysis section of TANCET 2023 was moderately difficult as compared to last year’s question paper. Problems were based on the business situation in the form of paragraphs. Exam takers had to also answer questions on percentage and equivalence among other topics. There were two caselets, that included XYZ Company manufacturing traditional pickles, and 'Farm foods’ a company engaged in organic food production and sales. Noth the passages had 10 questions each.
Reading Comprehension
Last year, the Reading Comprehension (RC) section had four passages with a varied number of questions. The topic of passages and the number of questions are given below:
- Union efforts for public sector worker (five questions)
- The Effects of Food Intake on the Production and Release of Serotonin (five questions)
- Japanese automobile workers and their efficiency (five questions)
- biases of United States history textbooks (five questions)
The passages were of easy to moderate difficulty level.
Quantitative Aptitude
The Quantitative Aptitude section of TANCET 2023 was easier as compared to last year’s question paper. The questions were broadly based on Average, Ratio & Mixtures, Interests, Rates and Set Theory.
General English
The General English section was relatively easier than last year. It had five questions each from Synonyms, Antonyms, Prepositions and Appropriate Words.
Data Sufficiency and Reasoning
Data Sufficiency & Reasoning continues to be the most challenging section of the TANCET 2023 exam for the past few years. This year too, the difficulty level of this section was on the higher side. Questions were broadly based on Pie Chart, Syllogism, Blood Relation Analogy, Coding-Decoding, Direction, Sitting Arrangement, Series.
