NEET MDS 2025 exam will be conducted on January 31, 2025. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced the NEET MDS 2025 exam date through a common exam calendar. Apart from the exam date, no other schedule has been announced yet.

It is expected that the NEET MDS 2025 dates will be announced along with the information bulletin and application form in the second week of December 2024. The NEET MDS application process 2025 will likely be conducted from the second to fourth week of December 2024, followed by the edit window in the first week of January 2025. Q:   What is the date of NEET MDS 2025?

A:

NEET MDS 2025 exam will be conducted on January 31, 2025. NBE announced the exam date on November 27, 2024, through a common exam calendar. The NEET MDS 2025 admit card is expected to be released in the second week of January 2025. The application form will be released along with the information brochure in the first week of December 2024. The last date of application is likely to be in the fourth week of December 2024. The result will be declared by the fourth week of February 2025. NEET MDS is a computer-based test of three hours duration, scheduled from 9 AM to 12 noon.

Q:   Will there be any change in the NEET MDS 2025?

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is yet to release the complete notification or information bulletin for NEET MDS 2025. Changes, if any, would be reflected in the information bulletin. Based on a previous notification, the NEET MDS 2025 exam pattern or structure is likely to change. Within the eligibility criteria, the internship deadline may also vary as compared to last year. It is expected that the rest of the aspects of NEET MDS 2025 exam will remain the same as last year. Q:   Is there any limit to attempt NEET MDS exam?

A:

Yes, as per the official guidelines, candidates belonging to the General/OBC category have three attempts up to the age of 25 years while SC/ST category candidates are allowed three attempts up to the age of 30 years. Hence, candidates must note the NEET MDS eligibility criteria first, before applying for the exam.

What is NEET MDS?

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery abbreviated as NEET MDS is an entrance exam conducted by NBE for providing admissions to all the postgraduate dental courses offered by the institutions in India. NEET MDS exam is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination conducted annually in online mode. The scores are accepted by most dental colleges across the country. A total of 6,501 Masters of Dental Surgery (MDS) seats are offered under 50% All India Quota (AIQ), 50% state quota seats, and 100% seats in deemed/central universities and private colleges through the exam. After the declaration of the NEET MDS result, the counselling process will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). 

 

Q:   What is the selection process for MDS and what is the minimum NEET MDS score required?

The selection process for MDS is simple you need to apply for undergraduate medical counseling through your NEET mark.The NEET MDS cutoff 2023 score for general category students is 272, while for SC/ ST/ OBC category aspirants, the cutoff is 238.

The full form of NEET MDS is National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET) - Master of Dental Surgery (MDS). NEET MDS is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination for admission to various MDS Courses in India. The exam is conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBE). It is a computer-based test (CBT) or an online exam of three hours duration. According to NBE, the exam conducting body, qualifying for NEET-MDS is mandatory for entry to MDS courses under various Universities/Institutions in the country. However, NEET MDS scores are not accepted by AIIMS institutes for admission purpose as it conducts its own entrance exam.

The NEET MDS exam is conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). NBEMS or NBE is the conducting authority for the postgraduate medical entrance exams. NBE is an autonomous organisation of Ministryof Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The exam is conducted for over 6,000 postgradute Dental seats offered in India. Q:   How many attempts are permitted for NEET MDS?

A:

There is no capping on the number of attempts for NEET MDS. Candidates can take the examination any number of times. Candidates are advised to check all the eligibility criteria set by National Board of Examinations NBE before applying online for the exam. One of the eligibility criteria is applicants must not be younger than 20 years of age. They must have completed 12 months of compulsory rotatory internship on or before June 30, 2024.

Q:   Will I be eligible to participate in the NEET MDS counselling if I do not qualify for the exam?

A:

No, candidates have to qualify NEET MDS 2024 to become eligible for NEET MDS 2024 counselling.  It is also to be noted candidates have to qualify NEET MDS exam with the minimum cut off which vary for each category. The minimum cut off percentile for general category candidates is 50 while for SC/ST, the cut off is 40th. Elligible candidates have to register on the official website, mcc.nic.in to participate in the counselling for NEET MDS 2024. Registration is followed by choice declaration. Candidates can declare as many choices as they want to in order of their prefrences.

NEET MDS 2025 exam will be conducted by NBE on January 31, 2025, in a computer-based mode. NEET MDS 2025 Application Form Process

Aspirants of the PG Dental entrance test have to register themselves on the official website of NBE. After the completion of the registration process, candidates have to fill the NEET MDS 2025 application form. NEET MDS 2025 application process involved the following processes.

  • Register on the official portal to generate a User ID and Password
  • Fill the application form
  • Upload photograph and signature
  • Pay the requisite amount of fees
  • Take a printout of the filled application form with the transaction ID printed on it

Those who submitted the applications for NEET MDS 2025 within the given deadline will be allowed to avail the correction facility to modify details.

NEET MDS 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who wish to apply for NEET MDS 2025 are advised to read and understand the criteria set by NBE. It was also important that a candidate meet the requirements set by NBE for the exam. If at any point in time NBE found out that the candidate does not meet the eligibility requirements for NEET MDS 2025, his/her candidature will be cancelled. The eligibility criteria for NEET MDS 2025, as per MDS Course Regulations 2017 notified by the Dental Council of India with prior approval of MoHFW are as follows :

  • They must possess a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from a University/Institute recognised by the DCI

  • They must be registered with the Dental Council of India (DCI) or State Dental Council (SDC) (permanent/provisional)

  • They must have completed 12 months of compulsory rotatory internship on or before the stipulated date.

A:

NEET MDS application process is completely online. Candidates have to visit the official website of NEET MDS or the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) and after that, they will have to visit the NEET MDS section and follow the steps given below.

  • Go to the official website of NBE - nbe.edu.in
  • Click on "NEET-MDS"
  • In the Links section, click on "New Registration"
  • Enter the following details
    1. Name of Candidate

Q:   What is the application fee for NEET MDS?

A:

The NEET MDS 2025 application fee will vary according to the candidate categories. Last year, the NEET MDS application fee for the General and OBC category candidates was INR 3,500. For the reserved category candidates such as the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Person with a disability (PWD), the application fee was INR 2,500. Last year, the fee amount was reduced from the previous year, which was INR 4,250 and INR 3,250 for Open and reserved category candidates. It is expected that the NEET MDS 2025 application fee will remain the same as last year. The application fee has to be paid through Credit Card, Debit Card or Net Banking modes.

Q:   When will the NEET MDS 2025 application process begin?

The NEET MDS 2025 application process is likely to begin in the first week of December 2024. The last date of appliction is expected to be scheduled in the fourth week of December 2024. NBE is yet to announce the NEET MDS application dates 2025. Based on student rquests or other external factors, NBE may extend or reopen the application window.

The NEET MDS 2025 application form will be available only in online mode. Candidates have to fill the online application form, upload images and documents and pay the application fees in an online mode, with credit/debit card or net banking. Once the NEET MDS 2025 application form is filled and submitted, NBE will send an application confirmation to candidates.

Q:   Is it possible to fill NEET MDS application form in offline mode?

A:

No, NEET MDS application form can be filled in an online mode only. Candidates will have to visit the NBE website and click on the NEET MDS section and complete the registration and application procedure by filling in the mandatory details, uploading the documents such as certificates, photograph and signature, and paying the requisite application fee in an online mode. Even if a candidate plans to send the hardcopy of the filled up NEET MDS application form by post, it will not be accepted making the candidate ineligible to appear for the exam.

NEET MDS 2025 Pattern

As per the NEET MDS 2025 pattern, the exam will be conducted in online or computer-based mode. The test paper comprises 240 objective questions and candidates will have three hours to attempt them. The exam will be divided into two parts, Part A and Part B. While Part A will carry 100 questions, Part B will carry 140 questions. As per the marking scheme, candidates will get 4 marks for every correct answer and a deduction of 1 mark for a wrong response. Q:   In which languages is NEET MDS exam is conducted?

A:

NEET MDS is conducted in only one language, which is English. This exam, conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is held in a single language and window, in a computer-based test (CBT) mode.  Since BDS course is offered in English, it would not pose challenge to candidates in terms of attempting the NEET MDS exam in English. NEET MDS 2025 Syllabus

Q:   Who sets the NEET MDS syllabus?

A:

The NEET MDS syllabus is set by the Dental Council of India (DCI). The contents of the NEET MDS syllabus is similar to the BDS course. Explaining the same, NBE has stated, "The syllabus for the exam shall be that of BDS standard and shall cover all the subjects/syllabus taught during the BDS course as prescribed in the DCI Revised BDS Course Regulations, 2007 as amended from time to time."

NEET MDS 2025 Admit Card

The NEET MDS 2025 admit card is expected to be released by NBE for the eligible applicants in the second week of January 2025. The admit card of NEET MDS 2025 will carry important information like the name of the candidate, date of birth, exam date and timing, name and address of the exam centres and exam-day guidelines. The admit card for NEET MDS exam has to be carried to the exam centre in hard copy. It is released online and candidates had to download it through login credentials. 

NEET MDS 2025: Exam Day Guidelines

NEET MDS 2025 was conducted in an online mode. Each candidate was allocated a separate computer for taking the exam. A few guidelines for NEET MDS 2025 exam day are given below:

  • Visit the exam centre of NEET MDS 2025 one day before the examination to get an idea of the location
  • Three things that you must carry to the examination hall: NEET MDS admit card, valid photo ID proof and a passport-sized photograph
  • Report to the NEET MDS 2025 exam centre at least two hours prior to the examination
  • Do not carry bags, books, pens, papers, notes, etc. to the examination centre
  • Electronics such as calculators, mobile phones, smart watches, pagers, Bluetooth, etc. are prohibited inside the examination hall
  • Do not carry food to the examination hall
  • Wearing ornaments such as necklaces, pendants, earrings, nose pins, rings, brooches, etc. is prohibited. 

Q:   What is the process to download NEET MDS admit card?

A:

The NEET MDS admit card was released online by the exam conducting body NBEMS. Candidates had to download it by visiting the official website of the exam and logging in with their registration credentials. The step-by-step process to download the NEET MDS 2025 exam is given below:

  • Visit the official website of NBE - nbe.edu.in
  • Click on "NEET-MDS".
  • Select "Click here to download your admit card"
  • Check the admit card for errors.
  • Download, save and print the admit card.

Candidates must take multiple printouts of the admit card and preserve it till the admission process is completed.

Q:   How to download the NEET MDS admit card if I forget my login details?

A:

To download the NEET MDS admit card, candidates have to login with their registration credentials such as application number and password or date of birth. In case they have forgotten or misplaced the details, they will have to click on the Forgot Password link to retreieve the username or password. During this process, they should keep their mobile number and email id active as NBEMS will send the retrieving link through email or SMS. In case even the Forgot password option does not work, they have to contact NBEMS or NEET MDS helpline number. To avoid such a situation, candidates are advised to save the login details or registration credentials properly.

NEET MDS 2024 Analysis

The NEET MDS 2024 exam difficulty level was easy to moderate. According to candidates appearing for the exam, the difficulty level was easier than last year. There was an equal distribution of questions from all 17 topics of the NEET MDS syllabus. The number of image-based questions was higher as compared to last year. Moreover, the theoretical questions were tricky in nature, and not direct. Some students, who had appeared for last year's NEET MDS exam, said that some questions from last year were repeated this year, including the answer choices. Topics from which maximum questions were asked include Medicine and Pharma.

 

NEET MDS 2025 Result

NEET MDS 2025 result is expected to be declared in the fourth week of February 2025. Generally, NBE declares the NEET MDS result within a month of the conduct of the exam for those candidates who appear for the entrance examination. The NEET MDS results contain important details including the Roll number of candidates, the score obtained out of 960, and the NEET MDS overall rank. The NEET MDS cutoff marks are also released along with the result. NBE will release the NEET MDS 2025 scorecard a few days after the declaration of the result. Candidates can download the scorecard by entering the Roll number, date of birth, and captcha code.

Q:   What is the difference between the NEET MDS scorecard and merit list?

A:

NEET MDS merit list provides the overall record of the exam for all candidates. The merit list is released in a PDF format for all candidates. On the other hand, the scorecard is an individual document which is accessible only to the test-taker and carries detailed information regarding his/her exam performance in terms of subject-wise score, percentile and rank. Both the documents are prepared by NBEMS, the exam conducting body. The NEET MDS scorecard is issued only to candidates who can download it by logging in through their registration credentials and nobody else can access it. NEET MDS merit list, on the other hand, is released publicly and includes the candidates' Roll Number, scores and All India Rank.

Q:   Is it compulsory to download the scorecard of NEET MDS for counseling?

A:

Yes, candidates are required to enter the details printed on the scorecard of NEET MDS in the registration form of the counselling. They are thus advised to download the NEET MDS scorecard well in advance. The scorecard is downloaded from the official website with login ID and password. NBE will release the NEET MDS scorecard tentatively after 10 days to the declaration of the result. The NEET MDS scorecard will also be verified by the counselling authorities during the institute reporting process.

Q:   How can I download NEET MDS scorecard?

A:

NEET MDS scorecard can be downloaded online once NBE releases it on the official website. Candidates have to enter login ID and password to download the scorecard which comprises details such as roll number, application ID, marks scored All India Rank etc. The scorecard for NEET MDS must be preserved as candidates will need it at various stages of admission process such as counselling and institute reporting or document verification. The scorecard is available only in online mode and NBE will not send the hardcopy of the NEET MDS 2025 scorecard by post.

NEET MDS 2025 Counselling

MCC conducts the NEET MDS counselling for 50 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats, deemed/central university seats, ESIC and AFMC seats. To participate in the NEET MDS 2025 counselling, eligible candidates have to register themselves on the official website of MCC. They have to fill in their choice of colleges and courses as well. Four rounds of counselling are originally conducted including the online stray vacancy round for admission into Masters of Dental Surgery courses. Based on the marks and ranks of the applicants, choice filled, seat availability, and other criteria, MCC releases the seat allotment list for NEET MDS counselling. Selected candidates have to report to the allotted institute for confirmation of admission. In case of vacant seats, MCC will conduct additional rounds of counselling.

 

Q:   How many rounds of NEET MDS counselling will be held for seat allotment?

A:

A total of five rounds of NEET MDS counselling are conducted for seat allotment. Originally four rounds are conducted by MCC, after which an additional round is announced based on the seat vacancies. It must be noted that whole process of counselling is held online. Eligible candidates will have to register online to participate in the seat allotment process. Registration can be done in every round except last one where seats are allotted based on the choices declared in previous round. Apart from registration, NEET MDS counselling comprises steps such as choice declaration, seat processing, allotment result and document verification.

Candidates need to report to allotted college/institute for document verification. They have to carry following documents in original:

  • NEET MDS result 2024 or scorecard
  • NEET MDS Admit Card 2024
  • BDS degree certificate

  • Internship Completion Certificate (stating that the candidate has completed his/ her internship on or before June 30, 2024)
  • Registration Certificate from the Dental Council of India (DCI) or State Dental Council (SDC)

  • Photo Id proof (PAN card/ Driving Licence/ Voter ID/ Aadhaar card/ Passport)

Q:   Who is conducts the counselling for NEET MDS?

Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is the conducting body for the NEET MDS counselling. It must be noted, NBE only conducts the exam and declares the result of NEET MDS. MCC conducts counselling for allotment of 50 per cent All India Quota seats. For rest 50 per cent seats, respective state authorities conduct the counselling. NEET MDS stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery. The exam is conducted for providing admissions to all the postgraduate dental courses offered by the institutions in India.
