IGNOU launches online PG Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication programme in three languages

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication in online mode and in three languages – English, Hindi and Tamil. The School of Journalism and New Media Studies is now inviting application for the online programme. All those candidates who are interested can now apply by visiting the official website; i.e. ignouiop.samarth.edu.in.

The eligibility criteria for the journalism and mass communication programme is a bachelor’s degree in any discipline. The duration of the programme is one year and the fee is INR 12,500.

The programme was virtually launched by the IGNOU vice-chancellor professor Nageshwar Rao in presence of Professor G Ravindran, Head, Department of Journalism and Communication, Central University of Tamil Nadu; Professor Anand Pradhan from the Department of Indian Language Journalism, Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC); and Professor Umesh Arya, Dean and Former director, Faculty of Media Studies, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology.

The event was also joined in by the heads of Schools, divisions, centres and units at the headquarters and regional directors from across the country. It also saw the virtual participation of students and the general audience.

While speaking on the occasion, IGNOU Vice-Chancellor Professor Nageshwar Rao said that "the school is making significant strides towards fulfillment of National Education Policy (NEP) goals through its skill oriented and employment centric programmes."

He also said that "IGNOU has shown significant achievement especially in the pandemic times and the efforts of the team at the School are laudable."
