Ordinal numbers

Numbers can be of different types, such as ordinal numbers, cardinal numbers, and nominal numbers. In this article, we shall discuss ordinal numbers. In the case of ordinal numbers, an exact position of something or a person at any place is indicated using the adjective terms to denote a number. The numbers indicating the positions are written as 1st or first, 2nd or second, 3rd or third, 4th or fourth, 5th or fifth, 6th or sixth, and so on.

Other numbers

Cardinal numbers are counting numbers in their noun form to represent the number of living or non-living things. For example, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, and so on. There are four books on the table. I take two spoons of sugar in my tea; she has ten different pens, etc.

Nominal numbers are the numbers used for different purposes, such as identifying objects, devices, or areas. Like area pin code, numbers on the vehicles, IP address of a device, or a player’s jersey number in any match. For example, Virat Kohli’s jersey number is 18, or an area pin code like 700001, etc.
