Bharath University Highlights 2024
Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER) was established in Chennai, Tamil Nadu in 1984 by Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust, established by the academic visionary Dr. S. Jagathrakshakan. It is a deemed-to-be university. The university was ranked 73rd in the University by NIRF in 2024. Additionally, the university ranks 1501+ in the Times Higher Education Rankings 2024 and 189th in Southern Asia by QS World Rankings 2024. It has four institutions Sree Balaji College of Nursing, Chennai, Sree Balaji College of Physiotherapy, Chennai, Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH), Chennai and Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SLIMS), Puducherry. Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and a Member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
BIHER is also accredited with the Highest Grade ‘A’ by NAAC, Government of India. How to reach Bharath University?
There are multiple modes of transportation available to reach the Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research. However, it depends upon the starting point of the journey. Students coming from the side of Chennai International Airport (MAA) can hire a taxi or take a cab service to reach the university. BIHER is approximately 25-30 kilometres away from the airport and thus the travel time is about 1-1.5 hours (may increase in case of heavy traffic). Moreover, the nearest railway station to the university is Tambaram Railway Station.
