A government college and a good option. Go for it.

Placements: Yes there is a placement. Many of our seniors were placed last year. There is a placement cell also. For my batch the placement is going on and some of us are placed also. The minimum wages we get is $500 but it depends on company. Two to three companies visit the campus.

The review of Indian Maritime University, Chennai.

Placements: Previously, the placement record is not good, but from 2017, the placements are remarkable. Around 80% of the student were placed, also the performance of students of IMU, Chennai campus is remarkable that the top 30 and also the university toppers are from IMU, Chennai campus. This institute is growing bigger day by day.

Indian maritime academy for mariners.

Placements: Very poor rating to placement facilities. Maganement is good but no placement options are available. The management is trying there best to do the placement. Hardily 7-10 cadets are able to get place out of 50 students. We can say that the company would be coming to the college by the next coming years.

The college is good, but getting on board ship is really difficult.

Placements: We are waiting for placements. It is better nowadays than before. We have both on-campus and off-campus placements. They will send you for a job for sure. Placement officer is trying a lot for placements of all cadets like B.Sc. B.Tech, DME, METO, PGDGME, BBA, MBA and some other.

As the college is under central government, less placements done, no faculty available.

Placements: Last year the first B.Tech marine engineers first batch completed their course and as their strength was only 32 cadets so they all were placed mostly Science, essar, fleet, dockandale visit this college for placement the average salary is about 45000 rupees per month firstly all are placed as trainee cadet on ship.

Good faculty with good placement, mess is good. Really good infrastructure with a lot of greenery.

Placements: Almost all of our pass out senior batch got placed in fleet management limited, few in seateam management limited and some in synergy through all india open test. About 40% of my batch is selected in fleet management and still some companies ought to come for placement.

The college is not up to the mark.

Placements: I didn't get any placement as companies approach of the university is quite weak. Out of 70 boys in our batch, only 11 got selected via college placements, and rest are wandering. Without placements, there is no need for joining this college. They just look for any open exams, and they put students name on their list. The college reputation is quite below average in the shipping era. When we say we are from IMU, Chennai they scold us and force us to leave the office.

Really good infrastructure and faculty that helps bring up future mariners.

Placements: Placements in Samundra are completed on the day you join, this is currently the only marine Institute in India promising 100% inhouse Placements. If you are selected from the interview then your placement is already complete, that is the best part and performance is the University exams does depend, it is based on this marks the order of placement is decided Ofcourse the guy who gets ranked 1st will get placed 1st.

Not satisfied with lots of rules and regulations as they are worthless and they also punish.

Placements: The placements are average. They are not getting too many companies, and still, only one campus interview is done and not more than that. If you get placed, the college will take it. If you make any minor mistake on the campus, there will be no placements for you. You cannot ask for placements from college. If you ask then, they say that you are not showing good performance.

In short, we can say it's good college for the students who really wants to learn marine.

Placements: Talking about placements, we can say there are only 5-6 students get placed out of 40. However, they send students for off-campus interviews on their behalf. They give chances to all students. In a year, they call 5-6 companies to the college for the placements. They give references to join the internship.

More focus on placement is needed.

Placements: Placements aren't too good here. Only those who re extremely good have the chances of campus placement. Besides they provide off-campus placements to the remaining. Around 20% cadets got placement from campus and they joined ship as trainee marine engineer with an avg pay of $600 per month.

SIMS has a really good infrastructure.

Placements: Everyone will get in-house placement in executive ship and management ship. But, there will be a short waiting period according to the ranking. You just have to clear the IMU, medical and other tests. You will also have a chance to get a placement in British petroleum.

Dissatisfied with the placements and infrastructure on the campus.

Placements: For our seniors, they made the false report regarding the placements, but nowadays, the placement team is doing well and trying their best to increase the number of placements. In the years 2017 and 2018, many companies came to the college for campus placements.

On the whole, it is good. If you want to be a mariner, welcome here.

Placements: The placements are good compared to other fields. In this college, if you just pass all the subjects, your placement is sure, that too with better salaries than other fields. After 10 years of working on the ship, if you are a captain, you can get a minimum of 10 lacs per month.

This college is good for B.Tech. Better Join B.Sc. They have a better placement and teachers.

Placements: The placements are very less, but the placement cell is doing their best. Rest Chennai campus is the worst. I have been for four years, and there is no permanent faculty, where the faculty are all contractual. At present, the companies are recruiting the students. It will take more 4-5 years for the effective placements. The placement from college is approximately 5-10 % of the total batch in B.Sc. The placement is good, but not good for engineering.

Absolutely satisfied with courses and college.

Placements: My college, Maritime Training Institute has 100% placement. It is affiliated to the Indian Maritime University. The placements are sponsored by Shipping Corporation of India Limited (sole government shipping company). 70% of the shipping fraternity belongs to MTI.

Satisfied with everyone that provided on the campus.

Placements: The placements on the campus are good. Nowadays, the college is giving the good placements. Ultimately, it is your talent and hard work, which pays off. So, it is necessary to work on your skills. The university is great because it is a central government university and also it is a headquarter of all the IMUs.

Best college in shipping industries of India.

Placements: Actually, I studied in Maritime Training Institute, Powai which is managed by Navratna company Shipping Corporation of India. Mti-Science university campus is Indian maritime University Chennai. The students who studied in MTI-SCIall get placement in Shipping Corporation of India. But you have to top-ranked in Indian maritime University CET exams, and then you can get Science- MTI.
