IMU CET 2025: The Indian Maritime University will conduct the IMU CET 2025 exam in June. IMU CET Application Form 2025 will be released in March. IMU offers various courses in marine engineering, naval architecture, shipbuilding, nautical science and ocean engineering at diploma, UG and PG levels. IMU also offers management courses in maritime logistics.

Interested candidates can apply online by filling the application form. IMU CET 2025 application form will be available online only at the institute website imu.edu.in. The schedule of application form and exam will be announced soon. Candidates planning to appear in the entarnce exam can check IMU CET 2025 syllabus, exam pattern and previous year papers here. The IMU CET exam is conducted online at various cities across the country.

Indian Maritime University (IMU) has 6 Campuses at Navi Mumbai, Mumbai Port, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Chennai, and Kochi. Admission to various courses at IMU and its affiliated colleges is based on IMU CET only. However, there are a few courses where admission in based on GATE/CUET. Q:   In what mode is the IMU CET exam held?

A:

IMU CET is conducted through Computer based Online Test in multiple centres across India. Thousands of students apply for this exam every year to seek admission to courses in Marine Engineering or related fields. In the year 2025, the IMU CET 2025 exam is expected to be held in June. Students must keep a check on the official websites for all exam related updates. The admission to Lateral Entry will be through concerned campus where the programme is being conducted. However, IMU CET for PhD courses is held in offline mode.

Q:   What is the application date for IMU CET?

A:

The online IMU CET application form will be out in March 2025, tentatively. The official date for application form and other events will be announced by the Indian Martime University. Candidates can apply for IMU CET 2025 through Online mode only. The link is made available on IMU’s website. The IMU CET online application form consists of three portions:

  • Personal Details
  • Academic Details
  • Payment Details

Candidates have to fill in these three portions. Once the payment is successful, the candidate’s dashboard will appear, from which they can download the filled-in application.

Q:   Can I apply for IMUCET before passing plus two exams?

A:

Yes, you can apply for IMU CET. But make sure at te time of IMU CET counselling you have completed class 12 and have passed the board exams. Make sure to check the eligibility criteria needed for the course you wish to apply for.

Q:   What is the IMU CET?

A:

IMU CET is conducted by Indian Maritime University for admission of suitable students to UG (except Bachelor of Business Administration), PG, and Research programs. The exam is held annually in CBT mode. IMU CET scores are acceptable at IMU campuses and collges affliated to IMU. Candidates can join MBA and MTech courses via IMU CET or they can apply via CMAT/CAT/MAT and CUET PG/GATE/PGCET scores. Preference in admissions will be given to candidates with IMU-CET ranks. Hence the candidates are encouraged to register for IMU CET.

What is IMU CET?

The Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU CET) is a national-level admission test. It is conducted in CBT mode annually for admission to 6 campuses of the Indian Maritime University (IMU). The candidates desirous of joining Diploma in Nautical Science, BSc (Nautical Science) and BE/BTech (Marine Engineering) courses have to appear for IMU CET. Candidates can also join MBA and MTech courses via IMU CET or they can apply via CMAT/CAT/MAT and CUET PG/GATE/PGCET scores. Preference in admissions will be given to candidates with IMU-CET ranks. Hence the candidates are encouraged to register for IMU CET. All admission is based on merit through the IMU online counselling process.

IMU CET Eligibility for 4-Year B.Tech (Marine Engineering) – Residential

Criteria

Description

Educational qualification

  • 10+2/equivalent (PCM-Average: Minimum 60% and a minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th / 12th Examination).
  • Marital status – Unmarried.

Age Criteria

Maximum age: The reference date for the calculation of the age will be 01.08.2025.

  • For Males: General-25 years, OBC (NCL) - 28 years, SC/ST-30 years
  • For Female: General-27 years, OBC (NCL) - 30 years, SC/ST-32 years.

Relaxation

For SC/ST candidates: There will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks of PCM; however, it will not apply to English Marks. A relaxation of 5% in English marks will apply to candidates who are natives of the Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and belong to their Scheduled Tribes and who & both of whose parents were born in those islands & belong to the Scheduled Tribes of those islands.

Medical conditions

 

Physical Fitness: Candidates seeking admission to this Marine Engineering Programme must be medically fit including eyesight and hearing as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, as amended.

Eyesight:

  • There shall be no evidence of any morbid condition of either eye or of the lids of either eye which may be liable to risk of aggravation or recurrence.
  • Candidates must possess good binocular vision (Fusion faculty and full field of vision in both eyes). Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation.
  • Normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara Test Chart. Distance Vision unaided 0.5*(6/12) in each eye or 0.67*(6/9) in the better eye and 0.33 (6/18) in the other eye.

 

Medical certificate requirement

At the time of admission, candidates will be required to produce a certificate of medical fitness issued by doctors approved by the Directorate General of Shipping.

Note: Transgender are eligible for the B.Tech. (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering) & B.Tech. (Naval Architecture and Ship Building) and they should meet the requisite eligibility criteria.

Also, candidates who have qualified in the following exams can seek admission:

  • CUET(UG): Can seek admission to UG Programmes at the time of spot counselling for the residual seats available after the third List. For Admission to BBA programmes, candidates with CUET scores will be given preference.

IMU CET 2025 Application Form

Candidates can apply for IMU CET 2025 through Online mode only. The link is made available on IMU’s website when the registrations are open. The IMU CET online application form consists of four portions:

  • Personal Details
  • Academic Details
  • Uploading of Documents
  • Payment Details

Candidates have to fill in these three portions. Once the payment is successful, the candidate’s dashboard will appear, from which they can download the filled-in application.

Steps to fill the IMU CET application form 2025:

  • Step 1: Fill out the online application with Basic details.
  • Step 2: Fill out the online application with Personal Details.
  • Step 3: Fill out the online application with Qualification Details.
  • Step 4: Upload scanned images of the photograph and signature. The image should be in jpg/jpeg format only. Upload scanned images of documents. The documents should be in pdf/jpg/jpeg format.
  • Step 5: Pay the application registration fee through online payment mode.

Documents needed to apply for IMU CET

Applicants are required to register online by uploading the following scanned documents

  • Passport size photograph
  • Signature of the candidate
  • 10th Standard Mark Sheet
  • 12th Standard Mark Sheet (wherever applicable)
  • UG Degree Mark Sheet / Certificate (wherever applicable)
  • Category Certificate in respect of SC / ST / OBC (NCL) candidates
  • Economically Weaker Section Certificate in respect of GeneralEWS Candidates
  • NCC Certificate (if applicable)
  • Special State / Nativity Certificate (if applicable)
  • MEO-I / COC Certificate (Applicable for MTech candidates who are Seafarers)

Application fee: IMU CET application fee is given below:

Automated e-mails/SMS is sent to every registered applicant on successful registration of the application, uploading of admit card, publication of results, etc.

Important: The candidates who wish to apply based on CUET scores for UG (except BBA) are not required to register for IMU CET and should apply later during Spot Counselling registration for UG Programmes (except BBA).

IMU CET 2025 Result

The IMU CET result 2025 will be released in June. The result of IMU CET 2025 will have details of marks and rank obtained by the candidates. Candidates apply for the counselling and admission process through their IMU CET rank. Candidates are advised to download the result for future use. Only qualified candidates will be able to participate in the counselling process. The IMUCET 2025 result is made available as a rank list for UG, MBA and MTech courses separately. IMU CET 2025 rank card is also published under the respective logins of the candidates. To access the rank card/result of IMU CET 2025, the candidates will have to log in using the required credentials.

IMU CET 2025 Counselling

IMU conducts the IMU CET counselling in online mode for admission in 6 campuses of IMU. In the first step, the candidates will have to exercise registration by making a payment of INR 10,000. The fee can be paid online i.e., through a debit card/credit card/net banking. After that, the candidates will have to select the programme and campus for admission through IMU CET according to their preference.

Shortlisted candidates are called for appearing in the counselling. Candidates have to go through various stages which are registration, choice filling, seat allotment, document verification, fee payment etc. The registration for IMU CET 2025 counselling shall be available online. The university will conduct the counselling in online mode only. Online counselling will not cover admissions to the affiliated institutes. IMU CET counselling will take place in two phases.
