Imu Kolkata one of the best marine college in the world.

Placements: Placements are good when compared to other marine colleges. In our senior batch out of 208 cadets 180 have been placed in good companies like Nyk, Anglo Eastern, M.Sc. Essar, etc. There is a saying in our college that if you have all clear then you don't have to worry about placements.

College is awesome but the problem is shipping market today is flooded with engineers.

Placements: Placements now is not so good as there are too many marine colleges in india now and market is totally flooded with new marine engineers. Still it is not as bad as other private colleges. At least 60% placement is there in campus. Rest seniors and passouts of the college who are at good positions do help in off campus placement but still not enough.

The faculty members and placements are good.

Placements: The placement percentage was 100% for our seniors and our batch. All the cleared students got placed. Due to the students increasing in a marine field, the competition has increased a lot. There are still many good companies coming for placement, and deserving guys get the best of them.

All in all a good campus. Focused on sports.

Placements: Considering current trend in marine sector, placement is pretty good here. Because of the college alumni most people get placed. Companies like fleet management, M.Sc. Science frequently take considerable amount of students. Nyk takes its cadets from 3rd year itself. Regarding placement a lot of things matter like studies, sports, activeness in college activities etc.

Completely satisfied with the college.

Placements: More than 70 percent candidates were placed, but be careful as the college does not allow you to sit for placement in case you have a supplementary paper. 130 candidates got placed from a total of 160 (approximately) candidates eligible for placements. Sports certificates have a huge value in this field. NYK shipping lines offer the best salary among the lot. If the latest placement cell is successful, then MAERSK lines could top the list.

Everything is good but dissatisfied because of the faculty.

Placements: The placements of 2013 graduate batch were close to 90%. Since placements take place in 6th and 7th semester, in 2016, our placements percentage was close to 75%. The salary for the junior engineer or trainee marine engineer varies from Rs. 10,000 to Rs 70,000 monthly. Private companies give more salary. Companies like the Shipping Corporation of India, Mediterranean Shipping Company, Anglo Eastern Shipping, Great Eastern Shipping, American Prudential Line, Pacific IL and a few more visited for ...

It is the oldest marine college in India.

Placements: It is one of the oldest marine engineering colleges in the world. The college enjoys a magnificent legacy. The placement status of the college has always been above par. There was a time once when the college enjoyed 100 percent placement record. From the time the college has come under Indian Maritime University. Their placement states have gone down to 80%-85%. The fall in the stats can be attributed to the new set of guidelines by the university. According to which, one can sit for a placemen...

It is a good college to be a part of only if you are sure about marine field.

Placements: The placements are good if you keep scoring well in all the semesters. You need to keep on working on your studies and keep on performing in all aspects of securing an on-campus placement. Though if you don't get placed on campus, Mumbai is always an option for Marine Engineers.

The college standard is improving day by day.

Placements: The placement result of college is good as compared with other institutes if you were able to maintain your academic record clear up to 5 semesters your probability of getting placed in any company is very much higher because most of the companies approach to college after 5th-semester result. One more thing as compared with other colleges which are in this field already set criteria for students to sit in the interview is you should have minimum 70%. Everybody who is going join this field alrea...

A better campus and better environment for Marine Engineering.

Placements: The placement is good and remarkable nowadays for the college. Previously, there used to be less number of cadets, so the placement was 100%, but now, it has approximately 90-95% in the campus and outside the campus in the shipping industry. From the 5th semester onwards, the placement starts on the college campus by various companies throughout the world.

If you want to be a good marine engineer, then I advice u to join this campus.

Placements: The placements on our campus are overall good. Previously, the placement was 100 percent of the outgoing batch, but due to the more intake of students on the campus, the placement has reduced to 60 percent. But, while comparing to other campuses, the placement ratio is very good.

The industry knows this institute's worth.

Placements: More than 25 companies hire cadets from MERI each year, of which 10 are on campus. The highest stipend I have seen is Rs. 70,000 per month with lowest of Rs. 13,000. The largest shipping companies such as Anglo Eastern, Nyk, Fleet, M.Sc, science, Great Eastern and many more visit campus almost everyone gets placed within 5 months from the last semester.

DMET- The best college for marine engineering aspirants.

Placements: The recruiters who visited our campus looked for both curricular and co-curricular participation of the students. The placement of the last pass-out batch was roughly around 80% which was kind of good as compared to other colleges. The students were offered the roles of junior engineer on the ship. Some of the major recruiters were NYK, GESCO, TORM, etc. The students got paid around 400-750 USD during the internship.

DMET- Making the best mariners in the world

Placements: It is good here. If you study well and have good extracurricular records then you can easily grab the best here. Physical fitness is also considered here at the time of placements. Many companies come here to provide placement you can grab a good package if you come here. A salary in USD is always a nice feeling. You will board a ship as a fifth engineer then after passing MEO Class IV, you will be promoted to fourth engineer.

Not completely but partly satisfied with the college and tactics it follows to train the cadets.

Placements: Regarding the placements of our college, not exactly 100% yet. It is quite okay in accordance with the lower demands of marine engineers in present days, due to increase in the automization of ships, which has hence lowered the minimum number of sailors required onboard including the marine engineers and deck cadets. Approximately 50% of students get placements within the boundaries of the campus premises.

Marine Engineering and Research Institue, IMU(Kolkata Campus).

Placements: Placements are still good if not the best as it used to be in times when the college was D.M.ET under Jadavpur University. Many Indian and foreign shipping companies like NYK, Fleet, Anglo Eastern, and Sci visit the campus every year to recruit almost 75-80% of the cadets every year. Rest 20-25% cadets are normally not eligible for sitting in placement interviews due to some supplementary or other issues. But overall the campus performs far better than its counterparts considering the current ma...
