Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   How can I get admission in Jamia Millia Islamia?

A:

Aspiring students are required to register on the official website of CUET fill the application form online. In the form, fill all the details asked, upload the required documents and pay the application fee. Starting 2022, for BA, BSc and BVoc, JMI started accepting the scores of CUET UG. For the same, students need to register for the exam, appear for it and qualify it. Qualified students of CUET UG are required to register for JMI counselling after which merit lists will be released with the name of the shortlisted students. For the remaining courses, however, the university is still accepting national and university-level entrance exam for final selection.

Q:   Is Jamia Millia Islamia good for M.Com?

A:
{Source: M.Com students & alumni}

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) - Is it Good for M.Com?

Based on reviews from current students and alumni, here's what they say:

* Placement Record: While the college claims to have a good placement record, the reality seems to be different. According to students, only about 20% of students get placed, with the highest package offered being INR5.5 LPA.
* Recruiters: Companies like Samsung, Kotak Mahindra, DMI Housing Finance, and Acxiom visit the campus for placements, but the number of recruiters is relatively small.
* Course Curriculum: The M.Com course is well-structured and covers finance, accounting, and purchasing, making students industry-ready.
* Teaching Quality: Some students feel that the teaching quality could improve, while others appreciate the support and guidance received from faculty members.
* Infrastructure: The college has a beautiful campus with modern infrastructure, including a large library, laboratories, and a sports complex.
* Scholarships: JMI offers scholarships to deserving students, including the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

In conclusion, while Jamia Millia Islamia has its strengths, particularly in terms of infrastructure and course structure, the placement record for M.Com appears to be inconsistent. Prospective students should weigh these factors carefully before deciding whether JMI is the right fit for them.

Review of Jamia Millia Islamia.
Placements: The placement cell is active. The placement cell helps us with recruitment. Many top recruiting companies visit our college for recruitment. Around 5 students out of 32 students got placed in this course.
Infrastructure: The facilities are very good. The infrastructure is better. Digital classrooms are available. Laboratories are average. Reading room is available on campus. We need heavy computers with high storage capacity and RAM, but they have 2 computers which are not helpful. There is a decent library in this college.
Faculty: Faculty members are the best. They are helpful. Mostly, professors are from computer science backgrounds. The course curriculum is relevant to make students ready for the industry.

The life on our campus is amazing.
Placements: There are about 40 students admitted per year to the M.Sc. in Bioinformatics. There are no placements in our course, but the future scope is broad, like becoming a good researcher, having a role in a PhD, doing technical jobs, etc. There are various institutes and universities for research and PhD. Also, networking companies hire interested students. Students in our college got internships in various institutions or universities because internships partially fulfil degree requirements and enable them to become young scientists, research scholars, programmers, etc.
Infrastructure: Our college is one of the best universities in the country, matching the international standard in terms of infrastructure. The university has a centrally air-conditioned classroom with Wi-Fi-enabled LCD projectors, a tutorial room, a library, a state-of-the-art seminar room, and a fully equipped auditorium with a seating capacity of 1000 people. Our hostel facilities are very good and one of the best hotels in Delhi. Meal quality is well managed. The daily menu is different from the previous day's. The registration process is as easy as bread and butter. You have to go to the registrar's office and talk to him. In sports, one of the top-ranked universities is Jamia Millia Islamia.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are helpful and highly qualified. Their teaching quality is quite good. They are friendly, so the environment is good. Our course curriculum is relevant and makes the students industry-ready. There are external and internal exams for each subject. You get 40 or 50% in internal exams and around 35% in end exams (external exams), so the total pass marks will be 40 (in most cases) or 50 (in some universities).
Other: I have always enjoyed helping others learn, so I knew I wanted to pursue a career in education. I have enjoyed my other education courses so far, but it's important to me as an educator that I am able to assist all types of students. I have chosen to enrol in this course about special education to learn more about students with different abilities so I am able to help them learn. I want every student in our classroom to feel respected and supported. Reflect on how the course contributes to the students' big picture of learning, and invite guest speakers. The importance of extracurricular activities on college campuses is well established. The primary goals of extracurricular activities are to focus on the individual student level, the industrial level, and the broader community level. These activities exist to complement the university academic curriculum and augment the students' educational experience.

Bioinformatics at JMI is truly recommended as it is the best course in a decent university.
Placements: There are no placements for bioinformatics students in healthcare, bioinformatics and biotech companies. They have to apply for IT companies that come for MCA students. Many internship opportunities are provided for all students in the whole department, not relevant to bioinformatics students only.
Infrastructure: Two spacious and comfortable labs are available in the department of computer science, JMI. Except for labs, the classrooms and department library are just okay, but not in their best form. Classrooms are not too big but have projectors and everything. There is no separate hall for the department, so we had to celebrate freshers in the classroom. So, the infrastructure is average overall. Being a resident of Delhi, I have no clue about the hostel facilities.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members are friendly and helpful. The teaching quality is like any other course. You have to self-study as well to do your best in exams. The course curriculum is great too. Bioinformatics is a great domain with a lot of scopes.
Other: In this era, everything is going digital, and bioinformatics is an emerging science with a lot of spectrum not just in India but worldwide. This is the perfect combination of biological sciences with computer sciences. It involves the study and development of bioinformatics tools and resources that give quick insights to researchers and the biological community.

Satisfied because of the opportunities provided to study.
Placements: There is no proper placement for M.Sc. Bioinformatics' students. They are made to give interviews of companies looking for MCA students. The college provides internship to 5-7 bioscience students with a stipend of Rs. 5000. Separate internship opportunities for M.Sc. Bioinformatics' students are not provided.
Infrastructure: College is Wi-Fi enabled and has one central library and one departmental library. Classrooms are easily accessible to physically challenged students. Hostel rooms are quite good. Medical facilities are provided in the college. Girls common room and boys common rooms are good. Food is affordable and hygienic.
Faculty: There are a maximum of 30 students in this course/class. Teachers are more qualified than required but variations in teaching methods will be better for future students. Faculty is always happy to help. Course curriculum has loop holes and repeated topics and can be modified for better results. Six months' dissertation gives you an industry exposure as well as experience.
Other: Students can apply for scholarships. The annual fest is enjoyable and well organized. College supports and promotes extracurricular activities. Departmental fest are organized as well. Students are given opportunities to perform and express themselves. Crowd is quite sophisticated and friendly.
