On B.E. / B.Tech Admissions

Q:   I've scored less than 50% in 12th boards, can I get admission in KUK for BTech?

A:

The basic eligibility criteria for pursuing a BTech at KUK require a candidate to have passed Class 12 with at least 45%. Hence, a candidate scoring more than 45% is eligible to apply for BTech admission at the university. However, scoring 45% in Class 12 does not guarantee admission to the KUK BTech programme. Admission to the programme is based on a cut-off list prepared by the Haryana State Technical Counseling Society (HSTES) based on JEE Main ranks, followed by a counselling process. In case a candidate fails to clear the cut-off required for admission to the regular BTech courses, they can check out colleges offering Online BTech courses.

M.Sc. in Chemistry (Physical) - Batch of 2025
Offered by Faculty of Science, Kurukshetra University

Best for academics and worst for placements.
Placements: Placements in Chemistry department are simply average. The average salary package offered ranges from 3 LPA - 4 LPA. Not much bigger companies visit our college, only coaching institutes and pharmaceutical companies come for placements. Only 25-30% of students are able to secure jobs in placements and rest all go ahead in the field of research.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good. All classrooms have a projector. Lab is equipped with all necessary items and also lab staff is very cooperative in nature. They are always ready for help. Also, campus has inbuilt Wi-Fi connection of its own which is open only for students and research scholars. Also department has its own library.
Faculty: Faculty members are really very supportive and helpful. They are strict but they are also very friendly. Curriculum is very similar to the syllabus of NET and GATE which helps students to clear national-level exams while covering syllabus of department itself.
Other: I got admitted in 2023 batch, and I am currently in my last semester preparing for GATE exam and targeting jobs in PSU like ONGC and Indian Oil. Other recreational activities are also very good in the department like Lohri celebration, industrial trips, and many other activities like sports day.

A student prospective - Kurukshetra University.
Placements: There are 120 students in our course batch. In the final year, students are eligible for placement. Many companies and industries have visit departments in recent years to offer jobs to students. Every year 5-6 students get job offers from companies and industries. It is total 4-5% of students are getting job offers. Students get jobs in pharmaceutical companies. Top role offered is assistant manager.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of the department is very good. All buildings of the department are new. There are a lot of facilities like library and Wi-Fi. Classrooms are very nice. Labs of the department are very good. All things are present in lab for study or performing experiments. There are projectors in classrooms for quick study. Hostel buildings are very good. There are also a lot of facilities available in hostel. The mess food quality is good. There is a variety of food. There is a health center at university for students that is free for all students. A sports complex is also present for various sports activities.
Faculty: Faculty members of the department are very good. They are highly qualified and knowledgeable. They help students in every condition possible. The teaching quality of the department is very high. It is the best department in the region of India in theoretical knowledge. Exam happens after every 6 months and the beautiful level of the exam is very moderate. The passing percentage is 80%. The department lab work makes students ready for industries here. We can learn how to synthesizer various compounds and minimise the wastage.
Other: I chose this course because I want to become a professor. Chemistry is my favourite subject so thats why I choose that course for my future study in Chemistry. The best thing about the course is that we get enough knowledge so we can earn in life and make our responsible. They have many job open opportunities in companies industries for medical companies. MLN College: Unseen Review.
Placements: The percentage of students who get placed is very low, around 15-20%. The highest package is around 5 LPA, and the average package is around 2-3 LPA. Top recruitment companies might be TCS and Mahindra. No one got an internship from my course. Mainly sales companies come here.
Infrastructure: The facilities provided by the college include classrooms, labs, and a library. No Wi-Fi is available on campus. The quality of facilities in the hostel is below average, and the food in the mess is not good. However, medical facilities are adequate, though the quality of games and recreational activities is average.
Faculty: Teachers are somewhat helpful but not highly qualified or knowledgeable. The quality of teaching is not good, and the course is not industry-relevant. Exams are not difficult, and students can easily pass them.
Other: I chose BCA because I have an interest in coding. However, the faculty and fee collection need significant improvement. There are few events, and while the campus is decent, it is not as good as it should be. Scholarships are available for students.

B.Tech. in Information Technology - Batch of 2025
Offered by PIET - Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology
4.8

It offers strong academic and good placements but need improvement in industry collaboration.
Placements: PIET has a good reputation for placement and academic support. For our batch of 2025 in B.Tech, around 80% of students are placed in reputed companies. The highest salary package offered is 38 LPA, while the lowest salary package offered is 3.5 LPA. The average salary package offered is 5.25 LPA. Some of the top recruiting companies included Amazon, Infosys, Wipro, IBM, TCS, Infogain, Virtusa, etc., providing excellent career opportunities. Approximately 90% of students from our batch secured internships in companies like Cognizant, Solitaire, Infosys Pvt. Ltd., Gate, etc. The top roles offered included software developer and data analyst.
Infrastructure: Department provides excellent facilities, including high-speed Wi-Fi, modern computer labs, well-equipped classrooms with projectors and LED screens, and access to a vast library with a variety of books and e-resources. Hostel facilities are comfortable, with clean and spacious rooms available for students. Mess serves hygienic and nutritious food with a variety of options to cater to different tastes. Medical facilities include a dedicated health center in the pharmacy block. For recreation, the PIET campus provides ample sports facilities, including grounds for cricket, volleyball, basketball, football, and indoor games like table tennis, chess, and foosball.
Faculty: Teachers are approachable and provide valuable guidance to help students understand complex concepts, both in theory and practical application. The teaching quality is commendable, with a mix of traditional and modern teaching methods, including the use of technology and real-world examples to enhance learning.
Other: I am part of the 2025 batch in the B.Tech (IT) program at PIET. I chose this course because of my interest in programming and the growing demand for IT professionals in the industry. The best things about the IT course include the strong focus on practical learning through coding labs and live project work. It could be improved with more opportunities for live projects and internships tied directly to industry collaboration. The campus hosts events and fests (like Freshers, and Maestros). It offers scholarships based on merit and financial assistance, which motivate students to perform well.

East or West Kurukshetra University is the best. Infrastructure and facilities are very good.
Placements: Students with having SGPA above 8 are allowed to sit in the placement opportunity. The highest salary package offered is 3 LPA. As our course is not vocational. We have to clear the CSIR NET exam for further interviews or higher qualifications. I have only heard about Ranbaxy. Mostly Organic Chemistry students get placed. Pharmaceutical courses play a huge role in this field.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is very good. Labs are well-equipped. All chemicals are present in lab. The whole university is fully Wi-Fi enabled. Hostel facility is very good. I am living in Yamuna Bhawan hostel no 13. Food facilities and infrastructure all facilities are up to the mark.
Faculty: Faculty members and course curriculum are very good. Faculty members are very supportive. All teachers are Ph.D. holders. The way they teach is very good. I'm very much satisfied with the university. Course curriculum design is very appropriate for future studies. Semester exams are very difficult as many students get to reappear in the examination.
Other: I have a keen interest in chemistry that's why I chose this course. The best thing is that the course provides theoretical as well as practical knowledge related to days today's life. I don't think the course needs some kind of improvement. Many fests are conducted like Ratnawali and Geeta Jayanti. They are the most awaited festival of Kurukshetra University.

Not satisfied with the placement of 2024 batch.
Placements: We are not satisfied with the placement cell at this institute. It doesn't bring in enough IT companies for placement purposes, so students don't get the opportunities they want. Instead, they bring in startups, which don't always provide the best opportunities.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of this college is not that great, but it is adequate. There is no personal ground, so students often go to the MLN college grounds. Facilities include wifi, labs with seating for 40–50 students, and classrooms with seating for 60 students.
Faculty: The faculty were quite helpful in understanding the seminar topics assigned to each student once per semester. This helped me improve my presentation skills. The teachers were well-qualified in their fields and were able to easily answer any questions we had.
