Satisfied but there is a huge scope of improvement for NIT DURGAPUR.
Placements: In the previous passing batch of 2023, placement percent was near about 84%, with the highest package being 70 LPA and the average being 13 LPA. In total, 746 jobs were offered in that season. Some of the top companies were JP Morgan, TCS, Samsung, Adobe, Amazon, Axis Bank, Oracle, and many more.
Infrastructure: The facilities that are available for each department are many. Labs, new classrooms, and libraries are all air-conditioned. Labs are well-equipped with most of the machines that are necessary. Hostels are good. However, the quality of mess food is not up to the mark in some of the hostels. Medical facilities are somewhat lacking in terms of necessary equipment.
Faculty: Most of the professors here are just excellent. They are highly qualified and knowledgeable and are always there to help. The course curriculum is also good. They continuously modify the syllabus to make sure that the course is relevant according to modern-day requirements. Semester exams are mostly easy to pass. But if someone wants to get 90+, they must have a good understanding of the subject.
Other: I chose this course because I am interested in semiconductors and want to build a career in it. Also, this was the best option that I was getting at the time of counselling. Many events take place every year. Two annual fests that take place are Aarohan (the technical fest) and Recstacy (the cultural fest). The alumni network of this college is also strong.

National Institute of Technology Durgapur.
Placements: I am from the Mathematics and Computing branch. This branch is new in NIT Durgapur. It is also a part of Computer Science Engineering. Internships in NIT DGP are valuable, with strong industry connections offering opportunities in top companies. In CSE, above 89% were placed. Top companies like Microsoft and Amazon recruit for Maths and coding.
Infrastructure: All are good. Wi-Fi and labs are available. Hostel facilities are also good. The mess is also nice and tasty. Sports are also there, including a basketball court, cricket court, and all games. A medical unit is also there. The mess in NIT DGP has good culinary expertise, providing different options, though the standard may be questionable. The food is usually healthy.
Faculty: Teachers are good and always help, clarifying our doubts. Yes, it is a little bit difficult to pass the semester. The pass percentage is 35%. Many of the students are seen practicing a great deal of training, solving coding contests, and undertaking interviews to get high-responsibility and high-paying jobs in the industry in software.
Other: Fests are held well. Scholarships are there if they are applicable, and students can apply. NIT Durgapur offers a vibrant campus life, blending academic excellence with extracurricular activities. The campus features a strong placement record, making it a hub for engineering students aspiring for success.

Pros and Cons of NIT Durgapur
Placements: After finishing the 5th semester, students can participate in campus placements held at the Career Development Center on campus. The placement rates have been consistently high, like 98.88% in 2020, 88.3% in 2022, and 95.97% in 2023. Big companies like TCS, IBM, Google, Infosys, Adobe, and Amazon recruit students. The median salary for undergraduate (UG) four-year degrees was around 6.4 lakhs in 2020, 7.98 lakhs in 2021, and 6.8 lakhs in 2022. While many students go for placements, some may also decide to pursue further studies like MTech or MBA. It depends on the type of internship you want, whether it's research or industrial. For industrial internships, companies come to campus during your third year. You apply, take tests, and if you pass, you get selected easily.
Infrastructure: Students struggle to find internships. Hostel conditions are not great. Some teachers are strict and rude. There aren't enough sports facilities on campus. The mess food wasn't good; there was too much sweetness in every dish, and potatoes seemed to be in every meal. Variety was lacking in the menu, with limited options available each day.
Faculty: Our college has a top-notch curriculum, rated 9 out of 10. It's designed by experts within the college and includes additional tech-related activities to enhance students' education. We have two semesters each year, with one midterm exam per semester. If we attend lectures regularly and keep up with our work, the midterm exams are easy to manage.
Other: The atmosphere on our campus is truly exceptional. Although not sprawling, the infrastructure is top-notch. With three distinct auditoriums, two outdoor recreational areas, and the impressive SAC auditorium, our campus even boasts a serene duck pond, perfect for unwinding in the evenings. Our library serves as a center of knowledge, housing over one lakh books and providing high-speed WiFi connectivity. Operating from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., it caters to diverse study schedules. Beyond academics, the college hosts a variety of sports events, including Inter NIT tournaments, Hit Hall competitions, and inter-branch contests, including eSports. The lively club scene encompasses technical societies like GLUG, RECurrison, Math and Tech, CCA, SAE, IEEE, ISTE, as well as cultural groups like Strokes, Dance, Music, and Prakrit. Festivals such as E-SUMMIT, AAROHAN, AAVISHKAR, and RECSTACY punctuate the academic calendar, injecting excitement into campus life throughout the year.

Satisfied by the faculty and campus life. Happy with the placement assurance.
Placements: I am from the electronics and communication engineering department. Honesty most of the software companies allow us to sit for the placements and this is also a good place for internships as an ECE student. 75% + have been placed in good companies with packages on par with CS students. 50 LPA was the highest. While 6 was the lowest. The average stands at 17.5 LPA. Microsoft and Google were the top recruiters.
Infrastructure: For my course, the electronics and VLSI labs are top-notch. The equipment is good too. For research too. It's one of the best places. As for hostels and dorms, we do have comfortable rooms, the mess is not the best I would say, but it's acceptably fine with us.
Faculty: Faculty members were good teachers mostly. The teachers are well qualified. Sem exams are considerably difficult. If we study well enough it's easily approachable. The passing percentage is above 80%.
Other: Fests and campus life is fun, it's fun to hang out with friends. There are places to not miss out. The garden, duck pond, the fest avenues, are all so good!

Yes! It's worth our money, but somehow some buildings' infrastructure needs to be improved.
Placements: Placement Percentage: Approximately 61.85% of ECE students secured placements during the 2023-2024 placement season. Top Roles Offered: ECE graduates have been offered roles including: Software Developer, Design Engineer, System Engineer, Research and Development Engineer, VLSI Design Engineer, Embedded Systems Engineer. Salary Packages: Highest Package: 51,00,000 per annum Average Package: 16,19,000 per annum Lowest Package: 6,00,000 per annum Top Recruiting Companies: Prominent recruiters for ECE students include: Microsoft, TCS Digital, CDOT, Sankalp Semiconductor.
Infrastructure: Facilities are average. Sports Facilities: NIT Durgapur boasts a variety of sports facilities, including a swimming pool, badminton courts, a gymnasium, basketball courts, and football grounds, supporting a range of athletic activities. Extracurricular Activities: The campus hosts multiple sports grounds and offers coaching, encouraging students to participate in various sports and recreational activities. Overall, NIT Durgapur provides a well-rounded environment with adequate facilities to support both academic pursuits and personal well-being. Accommodation: The campus includes multiple hostels for both male and female students. Newer hostels like Hall 14 and Hall 11 offer modern amenities, while some older hostels may have more basic facilities. Wi-Fi: All hostels are equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing students to access the internet from their rooms. Cleanliness: Hostel premises, including washrooms and corridors, are cleaned daily to maintain hygiene standards.
Faculty: At the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Durgapur, the faculty is generally regarded as qualified and knowledgeable. Many professors are experienced and hold advanced degrees, contributing to a solid academic environment. The curriculum at NIT Durgapur is designed to align with industry standards, aiming to equip students with relevant skills. The institute offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with curricula that are periodically updated to reflect current industry trends. Despite these efforts, some students feel that the curriculum could benefit from further updates to enhance its relevance and effectiveness. Regarding semester examinations, students have reported that the difficulty level is moderate. The assessment structure typically includes continuous assessment and end-term exams. The pass percentage is generally high, with many students successfully completing their courses.
Other: I chose this course because in NIT Durgapur, other courses' timetables are somehow tight. But for ECE, it is somehow free. So I chose it. Fests will occur, but they will not meet our expectations. But the fest which happens in April will be a boom.

Hi suman! You are not qualified as your score is 51. The cut off for general caste is 81. So, you cannot write JEE Advanced. Getting NIT is not easy with this score as many people would have been qualified. So anyway, you apply for counselling in www.josaa.nic.in All the best!
