IIEST Shibpur- A brief overview.
Placements: Placements in IIEST Shibpur are decent. There are both on-campus as well as off-campus placements. Reputed companies such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Texas Instruments visit our college for recruitment. The average package is around 7.5-8 lacs per annum, and the highest package touches 50+ lacs per annum. Generally more than 75% of students get placed.
Infrastructure: Since both the semiconductor and telecom sectors are on the rise recently, I have opted for the Electronics and Telecommunication course. The curriculum here is well suited to the needs of the industry and for higher studies as well. As in teaching methods, professors could also use projectors and smart boards instead of whiteboards or blackboards. A library named Ramanujan Library is also there.
Faculty: Professors of all the courses are well-trained and highly qualified. While most of them are helpful and solve students, doubts when approached, a few of them are not so. Class schedule is generally hectic on some days, with lots of assignments given. Generally, mid-semester exams are on the easier side as compared to end-semester ones.
Other: Extracurricular activities are given as much priority as academics at IIEST Shibpur, and this is where clubs come into play. We have clubs for dancing, singing, debating, coding, photography, and many more. A variety of fests are also held in our college. Instruo—the tech fest—is held in January, while Rebecca—the cultural fest—is held in April.

Our college is full of greenery. With good campus and supporting professors and seniors.
Placements: Approximately 80 percent of the students are placed from our department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and the average salary of our department is 16 LPA and multinational that hire us are Google, Microsoft, Texas, HP etc.
Infrastructure: There is an option of free Wi-Fi in our hostel but the accommodation is not so good with old buildings and not so good Ed's and equipment and living space is very small accommodating 4 people in a single room of 2 by 2. The mess food is particularly good compared to other things.
Faculty: Faculty members are good in our department with a high level of education as well as giving good support in our studies. And they take exams very seriously, conducting class tests per week as well as giving sheets for practicing problems. But there is one problem with some teachers; they are not so good and need to be changed, but there is no option of voting against the teacher.

Learnt a lot about myself.
Placements: One of the best Engineering colleges in West Bengal and one of the oldest in India for Engineering. The research opportunities are very good, but the placements are not that great! The top recruiting companies are PWC, TCS, as they take most of the students, but also in our time, companies like Google, Texas Instruments visited the campus. The highest package was 45 Lacs and the lowest was 3.3 Lacs.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is not on par with IITs, but it is getting better. The hostels are very old, but a new hostel building is under construction. All facilities are provided, like Wi-Fi, labs, and the library is accessible to students all the time. You will get the basic facilities at the hostel. The mess food is good and basic medical facilities are also provided.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are helpful and very knowledgeable. The course curriculum is very relevant. The exams are tough, but if you study well, you will ace it as the questions come mostly from classes. The pass percentage is around 95 percent. Rely on previous year papers, as they are also a good source to pass the exams.
Other: I chose Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering because it has a lot of scope. I would like the placements to be better.

Review of Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology.
Placements: I'm still in my early years at IIEST, Shibpur studying Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, but I have heard great things about our placements. Apparently, most students from recent batches got placed. Some landed really high packages (up to 45 LPA). Different companies like Microsoft, Texas Instruments, and Tata offer placements here and internship opportunities are high.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good but could be better. Washrooms need to be maintained properly. 1st-year hostels are not good enough. Mess food is not of good quality. Although Ramanujan Central Library has lots of helpful books. There are 4 canteens and most of them are good.
Faculty: Faculty is good but classes are not good enough. I am sure professors are really good in their fields but most of them can't do teaching. We have to rely on books and YouTube. Semesters are compared to other colleges. Although it is a little bit old. We have to constantly polish ourselves.
Other: I chose this as an alternative to IIT. I heard that the ETC department is good here. So I chose it so I can prepare for my postgraduate. Fests and events are really good here.

Students also asked

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.

Q:   Can I get admission at IIEST Shibpur in BTech if my rank is between 23000 and 24000?

A:

IIEST Shibpur JEE Main Round 6 cutoff for Aerospace Engineering is 23280 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one can not afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing from round to round, better ranks definitely increases your chances of getting admission in IIEST Shibpur.
