Satisfied by the faculty and campus life. Happy with the placement assurance.
Placements: I am from the electronics and communication engineering department. Honesty most of the software companies allow us to sit for the placements and this is also a good place for internships as an ECE student. 75% + have been placed in good companies with packages on par with CS students. 50 LPA was the highest. While 6 was the lowest. The average stands at 17.5 LPA. Microsoft and Google were the top recruiters.
Infrastructure: For my course, the electronics and VLSI labs are top-notch. The equipment is good too. For research too. It's one of the best places. As for hostels and dorms, we do have comfortable rooms, the mess is not the best I would say, but it's acceptably fine with us.
Faculty: Faculty members were good teachers mostly. The teachers are well qualified. Sem exams are considerably difficult. If we study well enough it's easily approachable. The passing percentage is above 80%.
Other: Fests and campus life is fun, it's fun to hang out with friends. There are places to not miss out. The garden, duck pond, the fest avenues, are all so good!

Absolutely good faculty members.
Placements: Placements are very good at NIT Durgapur. The percentage of placement is increasing gradually every year. A maximum number of students get placed every year at NIT Durgapur. Students who get low CGPAs also get placed in good jobs at NIT Durgapur.
Infrastructure: At NIT Durgapur, the infrastructure is very good. We have a healthy environment in our college. Our college is full of trees. We have fresh air and a super environment here. Hostels are very good. A maximum of two or three students are allowed in a room in the boys' hostel.
Faculty: Our faculty members are very good at what they teach. They always think about students. The curriculum at NIT Durgapur is good. Exams here are very useful to students. Teachers teach us everything that everybody can attempt in the examination at NIT Durgapur.
Other: We have full enjoyment in our college during even semesters. The even semester consists of full of fests. Our college celebrates every fest expensively. Every student will enjoy our college fests.

Pros and Cons of NIT Durgapur
Placements: After finishing the 5th semester, students can participate in campus placements held at the Career Development Center on campus. The placement rates have been consistently high, like 98.88% in 2020, 88.3% in 2022, and 95.97% in 2023. Big companies like TCS, IBM, Google, Infosys, Adobe, and Amazon recruit students. The median salary for undergraduate (UG) four-year degrees was around 6.4 lakhs in 2020, 7.98 lakhs in 2021, and 6.8 lakhs in 2022. While many students go for placements, some may also decide to pursue further studies like MTech or MBA. It depends on the type of internship you want, whether it's research or industrial. For industrial internships, companies come to campus during your third year. You apply, take tests, and if you pass, you get selected easily.
Infrastructure: Students struggle to find internships. Hostel conditions are not great. Some teachers are strict and rude. There aren't enough sports facilities on campus. The mess food wasn't good; there was too much sweetness in every dish, and potatoes seemed to be in every meal. Variety was lacking in the menu, with limited options available each day.
Faculty: Our college has a top-notch curriculum, rated 9 out of 10. It's designed by experts within the college and includes additional tech-related activities to enhance students' education. We have two semesters each year, with one midterm exam per semester. If we attend lectures regularly and keep up with our work, the midterm exams are easy to manage.
Other: The atmosphere on our campus is truly exceptional. Although not sprawling, the infrastructure is top-notch. With three distinct auditoriums, two outdoor recreational areas, and the impressive SAC auditorium, our campus even boasts a serene duck pond, perfect for unwinding in the evenings. Our library serves as a center of knowledge, housing over one lakh books and providing high-speed WiFi connectivity. Operating from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., it caters to diverse study schedules. Beyond academics, the college hosts a variety of sports events, including Inter NIT tournaments, Hit Hall competitions, and inter-branch contests, including eSports. The lively club scene encompasses technical societies like GLUG, RECurrison, Math and Tech, CCA, SAE, IEEE, ISTE, as well as cultural groups like Strokes, Dance, Music, and Prakrit. Festivals such as E-SUMMIT, AAROHAN, AAVISHKAR, and RECSTACY punctuate the academic calendar, injecting excitement into campus life throughout the year.

Good college for further studies. Placements were good in 2023.
Placements: Placement percentage in 2023 was good; it's above 95% and another 5% went for higher studies. As of 2024, due to the recession, it's average but you can still land with any small package company. As a package, if you land in big companies like Nvidia, it gives around 26–28 LPA, and if you land in tech companies in the IT sector, you can find 15–40 LPA based on company .
Infrastructure: Good hostel for girls, as you can get everything inside the girls hostel fences. And about food, it was below average. And you can also find small food centre where you can find hygienic food, as she will be doing in front of us. And you can find Strike, where you can find snacks, stationery, batch essentials, and so on. Laundry service is also there, which is little expensive.
Faculty: Pass percentage depends on the branches, as faculty is different. If you get a good GPA in the first year, you can maintain an 8 CGPA until the 4th year; otherwise, it will be difficult for the ECE and EE branches, as in CSE, you can get an 8 above the CGPA. But in civil, mechanical, BT and chemical, you should study hard.

Inside NIT Durgapur: A Student's Review.
Placements: For the academic year 2022-2023 in our ECE department, 88.37% of students got placed with the average package being 17.39 LPA, the highest package being 51 LPA, and the lowest package being 3.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Qualcomm, JP Morgan, Microsoft, IBM, Samsung Electronics, and Bharat Electronics visit our campus to recruit ECE students. Nearly 50–55% got internship opportunities in top companies such as JP Morgan, Microsoft, etc. The top roles offered are Software Development, Data Analyst, Technical Consultant, Electronics engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: The facilities are good. The infrastructure is average. Our campus is Wi-Fi-enabled. All labs are highly equipped with all the needed machinery. The classrooms have good infrastructure. There is a central library in our college in which all the needed books are available and we can take any book for further reference. The facilities at hostels are good. The mess food is okay but you'll get bored within a few weeks. There are canteen facilities. There is also a medical unit that offers OPD and emergency services. If we are having any issues, they will come to pick us up in an ambulance. There are two major grounds: the oval and the Lords, for games and tournaments.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are very helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. They always clarify our doubts and also support us in all aspects. The teaching quality is too good. Yes, this course curriculum is good enough to make the students ready for industry. The semester exams are moderately difficult; it depends on the department too, but anyway, you can manage to get a good pointer by referring to notes and previous papers.
Other: I chose this course because NIT Durgapur is one of the oldest NITs in India. The ECE branch is also very good, with good placement rates. Our campus organizes many festivals and events, such as technical, cultural, sports, etc. Two major events are conducted, such as Aarohan and Recstacy. The campus connectivity is good, and the campus crowd is average. Our campus is full of greenery with shady trees and flowers. Many scholarship opportunities are offered by the WB government, and eligible students can avail of them easily. For extracurricular activities, students may join clubs like CCA, Recursion, Dance Club, Music Club, EDC, etc.

Sure, but first of all, what is your JEE rank? Last year, the cut-off range was 4.5K to 13.6K for WB state and 3.8K to 9.7K for other state (General Category).

Hi suman! You are not qualified as your score is 51. The cut off for general caste is 81. So, you cannot write JEE Advanced. Getting NIT is not easy with this score as many people would have been qualified. So anyway, you apply for counselling in www.josaa.nic.in All the best!
