Not a good college. Don't come here based on NIRF ranking.

Placements: Placements are good enough but packages are quite low. We here get good companies like Microsoft, Qualcomm etc. But you can only get upto there if you have extraordinary skills of coding and language which are not being taught by them in a very brief way. We should learn them from outside.

Stay Away! No placements! No Future! The worst Department!

Placements: NIT Rourkela School of management is one of the worst departments of the National Institute of Technology Rourkela with no placement assistance from its core placement committee. The School of management is always left behind and not given any importance when placement season comes. Even after struggling for placement, our departments were not able to bring any good companies. I remember that in our batch only 2 were placed n TCS and 1 in synchrony. Even the toppers were unplaced. Beware stay aw...

Good infrastructure and facilities.

Placements: 100% placements are available in NIT Rourkela which we got placed in core companies. Many students have got placed in different companies like Bajaj, Hero, Honda, Hero Motor Corp, Tata Steel, Tata motors, many other core companies have visited our campus to recruit us. The placement coordinator is working hard to get more companies in college. It is good to pursue B.Tech in NIT Rourkela.

Good infrastructure, poor faculty and higher authority to them in terms of marks submission.

Placements: For our senior batch, the placements were quite well for both B.Tech and Dual Degree students as Coal India, Vedanta, Hindalco and Tata Steel were the core companies visited for campus recruitment. This year the scenario is different with Vedanta and Tata Steel recruiting and no sign of Coal India Ltd. to visit for placements which is a major setback for Dual Degree students as CIL is the only core branch recruiter for them. The lowest was 3.5 lacs from TCS and the highest was 14 lacs from Coal ...

It is ranked at the 8th position all over India. Among all the NITs, it is the best. Its world rank is 113. The environment is very good here for study. The faculty members are well trained, experienced, and very cooperative with the students. Classrooms are in good condition and suitable for studies. Hostel facility is available and well organized. It is an autonomous college. Labs are innovative and the library facility is the best among all.

The college has an excellent infrastructure that you cannot find in some IITs but infrastructure does not provide you your future, it’s the placement and education that does. 85% and above attendance is required in this college. Here, professors debarred students for only attendance and ruined the life of the students. First, the college does not give marks and then when your CGPA goes down, companies ask for a 7.5- 8.0 CGPA. Many students have to go for TCS, IBM, Coaching Institute, Pradhan (...

First of all, there is no definitive 'NIT' in this country. IIT's, or at least the original ones, keep a certain parity with each other whether it be the campus environment, curriculum, or infrastructure. NIT's, however, are very different from one another. So answering this question for, let us say, NIT Rourkela will in no way give you an indication of how it is like at NIT Surathkal. Each NIT is different, with its own idiosyncrasies, and they pretty much cover the entire spectrum from 'deplo...
