Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) - Batch of 2026
Offered by Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh

My personal experience at Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh in BCA.
Placements: I am in my second year, so till now, I don't have any real or personal experience about the placements. As there is no such placement cell, and as per seniors' experiences, big companies don't come to this college. So, the scope of getting placements in tech companies isn't possible at this college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, but the washrooms are not so good. There is no Wi-Fi available in the college or in the computer labs also. But there is a lot of greenery on the college campus, which is a plus point. The hostel infrastructure is too good, and the washrooms are also nice with a warm water supply during winter.
Faculty: As my course is BCA, it is one of the hardest courses. Still, there is no practical experience as teachers expect us to cram answers. They don't guide us properly. They don't even take proper classes. Exams are conducted in a proper way, but the faculty for the BCA course isn't appropriate.

Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) - Batch of 2026

Highly affordable, good amenities, and good sports facilities.
Placements: The placements of my college are average. The placement report of previous years shows that the campus has an average placement report. The college has recruitment of students by Mohali-based and Chandigarh-based local companies. The students who got placed were nearly 10 out of a batch of 85 students. The highest package was 3 lac, and the lowest package offered was 1.2 lac per annum. The company that came for recruitment was Cognizant last year. The internships are not provided by the college. Students need to take personal initiative to apply for internships on their own. The roles that were offered through college placement were offered to junior computer operators. Data typist, website developer, coding for Mohali-based MNCs. etc. are the top roles offered.
Infrastructure: My course is BCA, and for this there are 4 to 5 labs for BCA students. The lab's infrastructure is good. Computers are intact with good software that is up to date. All the computers have Windows 11 installed in them. The hostel rooms are spacious; there are two to three students in a single room. The quality of food offered is poor. There are various amenities in this college of sports: library, canteen, cozycove, beauty parlor, gym, and games. The hostel has timing restrictions; otherwise, the overall experience is worth it.
Faculty: The BCA department has approximately 10-15 teachers. All the faculty are well-knowledgeable, well-mannered, and polite; all are UGC qualified and are Ph.D. holders. The course is designed in such a way that students get in-depth knowledge about the applications of computers. But this does not mean that this makes the students industry-ready; the students need to study and conceptualize and apply the practical knowledge of algorithms and coding language. The semester exams are easy to moderate; they are not difficult. The passing percentage of each subject is 33%. Generally, the questions come from previous year papers.
Other: I did choose this course because the course is highly affordable with a good ROI for the future. This gives me in-depth knowledge about the applications of computers. What I want to improve about this course is that there should be an exclusion of Punjab and English subjects. And the addition of other computer-oriented subjects that give more practical knowledge about coding and C language. There are regular events and fests held in my college, like Science Fest, Techzeal, etc. every 2-3 weeks.

Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) - Batch of 2026
Offered by DAV College, Chandigarh
2.8

Small Campus and Crowded.
Placements: In BCA, we usually have a batch of around 150 students every year. Regarding placements, only a few students with strong skills secure positions in companies like Infosys, Wipro, etc. The highest package recorded was 21 LPA, possibly from D. E. Shaw, and the average package ranges from 2.5 to 3 LPA. The college does not provide any internships.
Infrastructure: The college has more than five computer labs, with internet working only in 1 to 2 labs. The rest of the labs could be considered outdated. Wi-Fi is almost negligible. Classrooms are decent, and some are equipped with projectors, specifically in the computer science department. The college library is quite good, with proper ACs, and it even has an outer reading hall for those who prefer studying with their own books. I haven't stayed in the hostel. There are two canteens, one juice bar, and one Nescafe. The prices in the canteen are expensive, and the food is decent but always crowded. Regarding sports, the campus has a cricket ground with nets, a basketball court (with one broken backboard), a volleyball court, and a gymnasium, as well as a volleyball court that is always closed.
Faculty: Teachers regularly come to class and teach. The teaching quality is sufficient for making notes with the help of teachers. You don't need to worry about the faculty staff (at least for BCA, they are good). Regarding the course curriculum and preparing students for the industry, you need to hustle yourself and work hard to secure a job because the college may not teach you the right skills. Stay updated on the current technology used in the industry and learn by doing. The pass percentage is 40% in semester exams.
Other: I have a passion for coding—not the theoretical stuff but the practical side. The subjects are the most interesting aspects of the course (subjects like C programming, C+, DBMS, Java, computer organization, web development, etc.). You will study such subjects throughout the course. The campus is quite crowded (which I dislike), washrooms are often a mess, sometimes water coolers do not work in summers, and the campus is not very big.

Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) - Batch of 2025

Good faculty and academics but lacks in co-curricular activities.
Placements: Placement opportunities are not as they are started by the college. Placement opportunities are very less and companies visiting are also less. Placements are usually taken off-campus only and whoever got recruited through college, their package is not very good.
Infrastructure: College infrastructure in terms of benches and classes is not good but labs are very facilitated and accessible to students. The Wi-Fi connectivity of the college is also fine and accessible. Hostel mess food is good but facilities like AC and laundry are not available in the college.
Faculty: The college faculty is good. Professors are well-qualified and helpful. They are friendly and also provide mentorship and guidance to students in every aspect of life. The curriculum is religiously followed in college. Course exams are familiar and fine in difficulty level; if you have attended classes, you will pass easily.
Other: The course faculty is good at this specific college, so I chose MCM for BCA. The events and fests don't happen often. College lacks in this area.

Our college is not very good.
Placements: In our course, the lowest salary offered is Rs. 40,000 per month. Students don't attend internships. Various companies visit our college to visit our course students. Mostly students get jobs in Chandigarh, Bangalore, and abroad. Around 20% of students got placed in our course.
Infrastructure: Computers of our college are very outdated. There is Wi-Fi in our college, but it is not for students. It is only for teachers. There is no hostel facility in our college. The canteen is not good in our college. The food items are not at reasonable prices.
Faculty: Teachers are not helpful. They don't have full knowledge. The teaching quality is also not good. This course curriculum is not relevant. It does not make students ready for the industry. Exams are very difficult. We studied very hard but did not get successful.
Other: Students of our college are not cooperative. They have attitude. Our college fees are very high. It is not good in terms of education.

Absolutely dissatisfied with faculty .
Placements: Most of BCA students get placement but most of them didnt get any placement In terms of placement, there are only few companies which come to our college after SD. top recruiters are mostly wipro Infosys, etc. the highest package was around 5 LPA And the lowest was 2–3 LPA..
Infrastructure: I would say infrastructure is kind of below average; most of the building is under construction, and they didn't have the particular I.T. room since it was under construction, and the hostel is also under construction. This college feels like I'm in some hospital or something. All the infrastructure is complete or not that great.
Faculty: Since our college is affiliated with Panjab University, the exams are kind of perfect. The syllabus is nice, and the exam timing as well as the holidays in between exams are justified. Also, exams are not that difficult from my perspective, but you know there are a few subjects that are quite difficult, but exams are mostly easy.
