Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   Does SHUATS have good placements?

A:

SHUATS placements may vary depending on the specific programme you're considering for placements. Here's a breakdown:

SHUATS has a Directorate of Career Planning and Counseling (DCPC) that actively works with students on career development and placement opportunities. They organize workshops, mock interviews, and career counseling sessions to help students prepare for the job market.

Some sources report that around 75% of students get placed through on-campus placements. This can vary depending on the program, with some like Food Technology, Dairy Technology, and Agriculture having better placement rates than others.

Well-known companies like Nestle, ITC, and Parle Agro have been known to recruit from SHUATS.

A:
{Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

Is M.Sc. at Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS) Worth the Investment?

Here's a summary of the pros and cons of pursuing an M.Sc. at SHUATS:

Pros:

* Well-designed curriculum: The university's curriculum is considered relevant and industry-oriented, making students "industry-ready".
* Qualified faculty: Faculty members hold PhDs and are well-qualified, providing students with good learning outcomes.
* Placements: While placements may vary across courses, some departments have recorded decent placement rates, with packages ranging from INR2.5 Lacs to INR7 Lacs per annum.
* Research opportunities: The university encourages research and has collaborations with reputed organizations, offering opportunities for students to engage in research projects.
* Infrastructure: SHUATS has a good infrastructure, including well-equipped labs, classrooms, and a library.
* Supportive atmosphere: Students praise the university's supportive atmosphere, with faculty members being approachable and helpful.

Cons:

* Placement concerns: Placements are not guaranteed, and some departments may struggle to place students.
* Hostel conditions: Hostel rooms may be small, with shared spaces and basic amenities.
* Food quality: Mess food is considered average, and students often prefer to opt for external eating options.
* Old infrastructure: Some parts of the university's infrastructure are outdated, requiring renovation.
* Limited company interactions: Not all companies visit the campus for placements, reducing opportunities for students.

Conclusion: Pursuing an M.Sc. at SHUATS can be a worthwhile investment for those interested in agriculture-related fields. While placements may be inconsistent across courses, the university's focus on research, qualified faculty, and industry-relevant curriculum make it a good option for students seeking a strong educational foundation. However, potential students must weigh these benefits against the drawbacks, particularly the limitations in hostilities and food quality.

Everything that glitters is not gold.
Placements: There are approximately 30 students in my batch. But the college is not good regarding teachers and studies. It does not provide any opportunity to students of jobs after the completion of graduation. No companies come here and even if any comes then only 1% students get placed.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is superb for those who are not serious toward studies. The only best thing in the campus is their infrastructure and building but the hostels are quite okay as compared to the other infrastructure of the college. The quality of food in the mess is also average, I mean it is edible.
Faculty: No extra curricular activities happen here. Tre college focuses on studies but that also is the worst here. The office staff and teachers are non-cooperative and have very rude behavior. The semester exams are easy because the teachers know what level they teach in. The papers are very easy. More than 86% students easily clear the exams.
Other: The college is not value for money because they only give out degrees. No proper knowledge is provided which one should have after completing the graduation. The college spends billions on infrastructure but it slowly recovers the amount by taking a cut from student’s pockets. If you come from a very rich family then you should take admission in this college otherwise this college is the worst for middle class students and poor background students. They don't provide scholarships also but make students fool by taking their money in the name of tours but never take students on any tour and don't refund their money.

Absolutely dissatisfied with the college in each and every aspect.
Placements: 1. Since more than 5 years, there are no placements in Mass communication from the side of the college. 2. They show the degree of Journalism but forcefully directly or indirectly indulge in filmmaking. 3. Internships have to be taken by self, there is no involvement of the college.
Infrastructure: 1. There are only three to four classrooms, with one shooting floor, one editing lab (not in working condition). There is no reading room, anchoring stand, etc. The library constitutes of limited number of books. There is Wi-Fi but network is more than worse. 2. The hostel is same in the worse condition, not good food as well, etc. There are sports and games but very few come in access to them as there is lack of information conveyed.
Faculty: Only one or two, moreover I personally feel that many of them are not qualified. As they keep on repeating the same syllabus for the whole course, even the topics. I felt and faced that the teaching quality is the worst. 2. The curriculum is not properly made keeping in mind the various aspects of journalism and Mass communication.
Other: I chose this for content writing and photography. 2. It cannot be improved because the situation is deteriorating day by day. 3. Yes, there are extracurricular activities. Scholarship is granted only to Christian students. The campus is well constructed.
