Is M.Sc. at Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS) Worth the Investment?

Here's a summary of the pros and cons of pursuing an M.Sc. at SHUATS:

Pros:

* Well-designed curriculum: The university's curriculum is considered relevant and industry-oriented, making students "industry-ready".
* Qualified faculty: Faculty members hold PhDs and are well-qualified, providing students with good learning outcomes.
* Placements: While placements may vary across courses, some departments have recorded decent placement rates, with packages ranging from INR2.5 Lacs to INR7 Lacs per annum.
* Research opportunities: The university encourages research and has collaborations with reputed organizations, offering opportunities for students to engage in research projects.
* Infrastructure: SHUATS has a good infrastructure, including well-equipped labs, classrooms, and a library.
* Supportive atmosphere: Students praise the university's supportive atmosphere, with faculty members being approachable and helpful.

Cons:

* Placement concerns: Placements are not guaranteed, and some departments may struggle to place students.
* Hostel conditions: Hostel rooms may be small, with shared spaces and basic amenities.
* Food quality: Mess food is considered average, and students often prefer to opt for external eating options.
* Old infrastructure: Some parts of the university's infrastructure are outdated, requiring renovation.
* Limited company interactions: Not all companies visit the campus for placements, reducing opportunities for students.

Conclusion: Pursuing an M.Sc. at SHUATS can be a worthwhile investment for those interested in agriculture-related fields. While placements may be inconsistent across courses, the university's focus on research, qualified faculty, and industry-relevant curriculum make it a good option for students seeking a strong educational foundation. However, potential students must weigh these benefits against the drawbacks, particularly the limitations in hostilities and food quality.

Shuats is a good college.
Placements: 60 % of students are placed and got an average of INR 3 to 4 Lacs package. Top recruitment companies are Agmark, Dehaat etc. Internships are mainly for ABM students and it also provides internships to dairy students in good dairies. It provides good courses and training programs to the students.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good and the lab is equipped well but old walls are there which needs renovation. Some departments are very good and has AC facility but some are old and has bad facilities during summer. Labs are good but it lacks new machines and all the other things.
Faculty: Exams are tough but they are good to judge students. Questions are asked from notes only and the provided books. Semester exams are conducted once in every six months. It includes assignments, practical, vivas etc. and then written exam. Written exams are conducted in the department itself.

A great college without placements.
Placements: 5% students were placed in my course. The highest package is 3.5 LPA, the lowest is 2.4 LPA and average is 2.9 LPA. None of the students got internship from my course. Top roles are field officer, etc.
Infrastructure: The facilities are good in our college and the infrastructure like labs, classrooms, library, etc. is excellent. The facilities in our college are excellent. The rooms are neat and clean. The food is not that great but it is okay. Canteens are available. For medical purposes, they have their own missionary hospital. For sports, there is a big ground and tournaments are also conducted.
Faculty: The teachers are great. They have good knowledge. All the teachers are highly qualified and have good knowledge. This course is curriculum relevant and it makes students industry ready. The semester exams are medium in difficulty and the pass percentage is around 67.
Other: I chose this course because by doing Masters, there will be good opportunities in the market. In terms of academics, it is good. The college is poor in terms of placement. I think they should work on placements. There are events going on every month. There will be an annual function every year.

It is a good college with average placements. You will experience the best greenery on campus.
Placements: In our batch, nearly 20 were placed in multinational companies. The highest salary package is up to 8 LPA, and the lowest is 3 LPA. The top recruiters are Gyan, Amul, VNR seeds, Infosys, etc. About 35 students got internships at ICRISAT, IIPR, and various private companies related to the department.
Infrastructure: Labs are well-equipped, and classrooms have good infrastructure. The university has a central library, and each specialisation has a separate library with good references. The central library now provides CAB abstracts too. The facilities of the hostel are fine. The quality of food in the mess and canteen is good, with reasonable prices.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and friendly. They are well qualified. They have good knowledge and good English proficiency. Exams are easy to a little tough, but we can write the exams with good practice. The college offers great books in the library, which are so helpful during exam time.
Other: The campus provides various cultural fests, sports meets, an NSS scheme, and many other extracurricular activities. I chose the course Genetics and Plant Breeding, which has good scope for a B.Sc. agriculture student who can work as a plant breeder.

Infrastructure and professors of the college are good.
Placements: The students are eligible for the placements starting in their third semester, and many companies have visited the campus for the placements. And the average package was 3,50,000 to the maximum of 7,00,000. Almost 65% were placed. My plan after this degree is to study abroad.
Infrastructure: There is a hostel facility outside the campus. Separately for boys and girls. The hostel fees range from 16000 to 18000 rupees with the mess. There are two students in one room, which has separate beds and a little fine infrastructure. There are lots of PGs available near the university roads in the range of INR 3500-5000. Hostel Fee : INR 18000 per year.
Faculty: I have chosen the course because the university curriculum is well-designed and provides great knowledge to the student in the desired manner. Most of the faculty available have doctorates from various central universities and from foreign universities. All the faculty members are post-doctoral and NET-qualified. The university has one mid-semester and one end-semester exam. Class size:-59 The course costs INR 60000 per year.
